Abstract

The phenomenon of individualism in contemporary Christian congregations has become a serious concern that displaces solidarity values as the foundation of communal life. This study aims to analyze the principle of solidarity in social philosophy as a normative basis for Christian congregational life of mutual burden-bearing, and to evaluate individualistic tendencies in congregational life from social philosophical and theological perspectives. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings indicate that social philosophy affirms the social nature of human beings who cannot live apart from one another, and solidarity constitutes the primary bond of communal life. Durkheim's theory of solidarity and Paul's exhortation in Galatians 6:2 together construct a solid argument that individualism within Christian communities represents a deviation from both the call of faith and the social nature of humanity. The study concludes that the solidarity principle of social philosophy critically exposes congregational individualism as a form of both spiritual and social regression that urgently requires correction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the concept of the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Luke and its relevance to contemporary life. The main issue discussed is how the meaning of the Kingdom of God is understood in the Gospel of Luke and how this concept can be applied in the context of modern life. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method, by examining various relevant theological sources. The results of the study show that the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Luke is not understood as a kingdom in a physical or political sense, but as the real work of God present in human history through Jesus Christ. The term Basileia tou Theou emphasizes the active and dynamic reign of God. This Kingdom is characterized by its concern for the poor, the values of love and forgiveness, and its universal nature. In addition, the Kingdom of God has both a present and a future dimension. In the context of contemporary life, the values of the Kingdom of God can be realized through social concern, economic empowerment, attention to mental health, and responsibility toward the environment. Thus, the Kingdom of God is not only a theological concept, but also a reality that must be lived out in everyday life.

Abstract

The study of Qur’anic interpretation continues to develop with the emergence of various methods and approaches in the modern era. Within this diversity, there is a need for tafsir references that are based on the primary sources of Islam. One of the tafsir works grounded in these sources is the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, which is well known for its tafsir bil ma’thur approach. This approach relies on the main sources of Islam, namely the Qur’an, hadith, and the opinions of the Companions and the Tabi‘in, as the primary basis for interpretation. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a library research design. The data are obtained from Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azhim by Ibn Kathir, supported by several relevant secondary literatures in the field of tafsir studies. Previous studies generally focus on Ibn Kathir’s method as a form of tafsir bil ma’thur based on the Qur’an, hadith, and the opinions of the Tabi‘in. However, this study does not only examine the method but also analyzes its relevance within the context of modern tafsir. In conclusion, Ibn Kathir’s tafsir has made a significant contribution to the study of Qur’anic interpretation, particularly in preserving the authenticity of narration-based interpretation. It remains highly relevant as a foundational reference for understanding the Qur’an. The method not only strengthens textual understanding but also provides a solid scholarly foundation for the development of tafsir studies in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of patient culture in understanding illness and treatment from a Hadith perspective and its implications for healthcare services. Using a qualitative approach and a library research method, this study analyzes various scientific literature, including Scopus-indexed journal articles, books on medical anthropology and cultural competence in healthcare, and Islamic sources, particularly Hadith related to health, illness, and treatment. The findings indicate that patient culture significantly influences illness perception, treatment choices, and adherence to medical therapy. In Muslim societies, understanding of illness is not solely based on biomedical explanations but is also shaped by religious beliefs, spiritual values, and traditional practices. The Hadith perspective reinforces the idea that illness is a test and that treatment is a form of effort (ikhtiar), thereby encouraging a balance between medical intervention and spiritual practices. Furthermore, the study reveals a gap between modern medical approaches and patient cultural beliefs, which may lead to miscommunication, low treatment adherence, and reduced quality of healthcare services. The concept of cultural competence is identified as a crucial approach to bridging this gap by integrating patients’ cultural and religious values into clinical practice. This study proposes a holistic healthcare model that combines three dimensions: medical (evidence-based treatment), cultural (patient beliefs and traditions), and spiritual (Hadith-based ethical values). The novelty of this research lies in integrating Hadith perspectives into the discourse of cultural competence in healthcare, which has been predominantly dominated by secular approaches. The study contributes theoretically by enriching interdisciplinary research between health sciences and Islamic studies, and practically by providing insights for developing culturally sensitive, value-based healthcare policies. The findings highlight the urgency of transforming healthcare systems into more inclusive, humanistic, and culturally responsive services.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of humans as khalifah and its connection to self-management from the perspective of the hadith. The findings indicate that the role of humans as khalifah is not only spiritual in nature but also has practical implications in daily life, particularly in self-management and social responsibility. The hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasizes that every individual is a leader who will be held accountable, making self-management the primary foundation for fulfilling this trust. Self-management involves the effective management of time, emotions, and resources. This study is also supported by empirical findings showing that self-management skills contribute to increased productivity and quality of life. Thus, the integration of Islamic values and self-management skills is key to realizing humanity’s role as responsible and effective khalifah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ understanding of the laws of thaharah from a fiqh perspective and the factors influencing it. The main problem addressed in this research is the low level of students’ understanding, which is not only conceptual but also practical in daily life. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving students and fiqh teachers. The results show that students generally possess basic knowledge of thaharah, such as its definition and types; however, their understanding remains superficial and limited to memorization. Students face difficulties in comprehending more complex concepts, such as distinctions between types of impurity (hadas), categories of najis, and proper purification methods. In addition, students’ practical application of thaharah is not fully aligned with fiqh regulations. Factors affecting students’ understanding include less interactive teaching methods, lack of practical learning experiences, and family background. Therefore, more interactive, contextual, and practice-oriented learning strategies are needed to improve students’ understanding of thaharah effectively.

Abstract

The reality of violence in contemporary society is undergoing increasingly complex transformations, taking the form not only of physical violence but also of structural, symbolic, digital, and religiously based violence. This phenomenon points to a spiritual crisis, social disintegration, and a weak foundation of ethical consciousness in modern life. Previous studies on non-violent societies have tended to be dominated by sociological, political, and legal approaches that have not sufficiently integrated theological, psychological, and spiritual dimensions as the basis for social transformation. On the other hand, studies on Islamic counseling generally remain oriented toward individual-therapeutic approaches and have not yet been developed as a paradigm for the reconstruction of a peaceful society. Addressing this gap, this study aims to construct the “Transformative Tawhid Theology” paradigm through the Integrative-Holistic Tawhid Counseling Approach as a model for creating a non-violent society. This study employs a qualitative method with a philosophical-critical approach and integrative conceptual analysis of literature in Islamic theology, Sufism, spiritual psychology, and peace studies. This study argues that Tawhid functions not only as a normative doctrine but also as a transformative consciousness capable of shaping emotional regulation, social empathy, collective resilience, and a culture of peace. The integration of spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions in Tawhid counseling yields a model of social healing focused on the transformation of consciousness and the reconstruction of human relationships. The scientific contribution of this research lies in the formulation of a new interdisciplinary paradigm that links theology, Sufism, Islamic counseling, and social transformation as the epistemological foundation of a nonviolent society based on the value of rahmatan lil ‘alamin.

Abstract

This study analyzes the principles of tafsir related to mufrad (singular), jamak (plural), and dhamir (pronouns) in the redaction of the Qur'an. These linguistic elements play an important role in understanding the meaning and interpretation of Qur'anic verses. The objective of this research is to explain how the use of singular, plural, and pronouns in the Qur'an influences the interpretation of verses and provides deeper insight into the intended meaning. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature review by examining classical and contemporary works of Qur'anic exegesis and Arabic linguistic studies. The results show that the use of mufrad and jamak forms in the Qur'an often carries specific rhetorical and contextual meanings, while dhamir functions to maintain cohesion, emphasize meaning, and sometimes indicate general or specific references. Understanding these linguistic patterns helps interpreters avoid misinterpretation and reveals the depth and precision of Qur'anic language. Therefore, mastery of these tafsir principles is essential for scholars and students in comprehending the Qur'an accurately and contextually.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the phenomena of polarisation and truth claims in comments on religious content on TikTok, and to formulate a conflict resolution model based on Qur’anic values. Employing a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach that integrates thematic analysis and thematic social interpretation, user comments were analysed through the stages of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results indicate that religious polarisation in the digital space can be classified into five main themes: tabayyun (verification of information), constructive dialogue, ishlāḥ (reconciliation), justice, and unity. The conflicts that arise are generally triggered by misinformation, confrontational communication, group bias, and identity polarisation. This study produced a Qur’anic-based conceptual model of conflict resolution that identifies the construction of religious meaning and the regulation of responses as formative factors, and dialogical awareness, social reconciliation, and community integration as its primary manifestations. These findings confirm that religious conflict on social media is not merely communicative in nature, but also epistemic and ethical, thus requiring a normative approach grounded in Qur’anic values for its management.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine the issue of the division of religious authority on social media through the lens of the Qur’an utilizing a thematic exegesis (maudhū‘i) method. The quick evolution of social media has greatly changed how religious information is shared, with authority shifting away from conventional scholars or religious organizations to individuals who actively spread religious messages online. This change has resulted in the appearance of various sources of religious guidance, possibly creating variations in interpretation within the community. This study uses a qualitative approach rooted in library research, applying a thematic exegesis method to gather and examine Qur’anic verses concerning religious authority, knowledge, and the moral duty in delivering religious teachings. The data undergo a descriptive-analytical analysis to uncover the Qur’anic notion of religious authority and its significance in relation to modern challenges. The results indicate that the Qur’an prioritizes the significance of religious authority based on genuine knowledge, ethical integrity, and accountability in sharing truth, while also forbidding the spread of religious teachings without credible knowledge. The division of religious authority on social media presents both advantages and obstacles: it allows wider access to religious information, but it also poses the danger of confusion and misunderstanding because of the lack of definitive standards of authority. Consequently, a discerning and careful approach to religious information, coupled with the enhancement of religious literacy, is vital for preserving the integrity of religious authority in the digital age.
