Abstract

Water hyacinth is an aquatic weed whose life cycle is floating in waters or raising roots in mud in shallow waters. The purpose of this water hyacinth itself is to be able to minimize abandoned plant gardens on Lake Toba, so that water hyacinth in the area grows to be more useful, both for the environment and for society. This study uses literature studies, the object of this research is information systems and previous research related to the phenomena discussed, this aims to develop solutions and related problems. The results showed that organic fertilizer from water hyacinth has the potential to improve the household and community economy. This organic fertilizer can also help reduce the population of wild water hyacinth plants in Lake Toba. Processing methods for organic fertilizer from water hyacinth include picking, grinding, microdeck sowing, and decomposition. Implementation of this activity can provide benefits such as reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and increasing soil fertility. Liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth contains important nutrients such as nitrogen which can help plant growth. The use of organic fertilizer from water hyacinth can also contribute significantly to the length of plant cobs. In addition, composting water hyacinth can produce organic fertilizers that can be used by farmers as an alternative to chemical fertilizers. The use of water hyacinth as organic fertilizer has the potential to improve the economy of the people in the Lake Toba Region. However, this application also faces certain constraints and challenges. Therefore, policy recommendations and actions need to be taken to facilitate the sustainable use of water hyacinth organic fertilizer and contribute to improving the economy of the people in the Lake Toba Region

Abstract

The implementation of preventing environmental damage due to industrial activities in Indonesia, AMDAL is a very important document to be prepared. AMDAL contains instruments to prevent environmental damage and prevent environmental pollution (Law No. 32 Year 2009). The development process and the implementation of EIA must really pay attention to environmental sustainability, so as not to cause great harm to current and future generations. This research aims to gather sufficient information on the effectiveness of AMDAL implementation in preventing environmental damage due to industrial activities in Indonesia. This research uses the literature study method by collecting several previous studies to answer the effectiveness of EIA implementation in preventing environmental damage due to industrial activities in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that the effectiveness of the implementation of EIA activities is very important and must be implemented by all business actors, companies or industries in order to prevent environmental damage and pollution around these business activities, companies or industries

Abstract

Palm oil waste is a waste or by-product produced during the palm oil processing process. During the palm oil extraction process, some parts of the oil palm fruit are not used and are considered waste. The use of empty coconut bunches as agricultural organic fertilizer is an interesting topic in the field of sustainable agriculture. Empty coconut bunches are waste generated from the palm oil industry, and can be converted into organic fertilizer which is beneficial for increasing soil fertility and crop productivity. The use of empty coconut bunches as organic fertilizer also has environmental benefits. By processing this waste into fertilizer, empty coconut bunch waste can be reduced, thereby reducing its negative impact on the environment in North Labuhan Batu Regency. In addition, the use of organic fertilizers reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers that can pollute soil and water. This research uses literature studies, the object in this study is information systems and previous research related to the phenomena discussed, this aims to develop solutions and related problems. The results showed that organic fertilizer from empty coconut bunches has reduced environmental pollution of greenhouse gases. This organic fertilizer helps reduce fertilization costs from farmers' dependence on chemicals. In addition, EFB also contains a number of important nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and magnesium (Mg) which can delight the soil. Organic fertilizers derived from EFB have an additional advantage, namely releasing nutrients slowly into the soil thereby reducing the risk of environmental pollution and increasing the efficiency of nutrient use

Abstract

Garbage is a problem that needs attention because it can have a negative impact on the environment and human health. The city of Medan, including North Sumatra, has problems with waste management that are not yet optimal. One of them is the Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Medan City, namely TPA Niagara. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the impact of the waste management system at the TPA Niagara City of Medan. The method used by researchers is a descriptive-qualitative approach. Primary data was obtained through observation and interviews with 4 informants, including TPA Plunge officers and the surrounding community. The research was conducted from March to May 2023. The results of this study found that TPA Niaga uses the open dumping method in waste management. This method causes environmental pollution, including soil, groundwater, and air. This pollution can disrupt ecosystems and threaten human health. In waste management, TPA Niaga also cooperates with the Pangkalan Susu PLTU to use organic waste as an alternative fuel

Abstract

Undoubtedly, human resources play an important role in the success of any company or entity. HR is a critical asset that requires special attention and care. This research focuses on workers at PT PLN (Persero) due to their non-compliance with the requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which causes significant safety hazards. There is a real need to improve managerial oversight given the lack of employee involvement in Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) training and the workplace environment. Researchers at PT PLN (Persero) conducted an analysis to determine the causal relationship between Occupational Safety and Health (K3) and worker productivity. The aim of various initiatives that fall under the scope of "Occupational Safety and Health" (K3) is to provide employees in industrial environments with a safe and healthy working environment. This research uses a qualitative research approach, with the main emphasis on collecting data through extensive library research from various sources such as books, journals, and scientific papers. This study focuses on three variables, namely occupational safety, occupational health, and integrated occupational safety and health, and aims to investigate the impact of these three on the productivity of employees of PT PLN (Persero). The statistical analysis carried out shows that there is a correlation between Occupational Safety and Health (K3) and the work productivity of PT PLN (Persero) employees. In short, it is very beneficial for PT PLN (Persero) in all fields to prioritise occupational safety and health. Ensuring the physical and mental well-being of employees in the workplace is essential for optimising productivity

Abstract

Occupational Health and Safety is an important matter that must be seriously considered in construction work to minimize the potential for work accidents, material and moral losses which will later be used to support effective and efficient performance improvements. PTPN VI has buildings with various forms and different functions and very busy work activities, so it is very important to take into account preparedness in dealing with emergencies so that excessive panic, losses and even fatalities do not occur. In the production environment, work accidents still occur on a moderate to severe scale. The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) is described. Data collection for this study was carried out through observation of the field and work environment as well as distributing questionnaires to respondents. The results of the study show that all procedures in dealing with emergencies have been complied with and carried out by the management of the Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee (P2K3) in accordance with the provisions stipulated by Government Regulation Number 50 of 2012 concerning Implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3)

Abstract

This research is motivated by dangerous events and risks that can occur in an industrial activity. Therefore, in order to obtain information about the hazards that may arise in a production, it is necessary to identify potential hazards. The activity of identifying potential threats in a work activity is carried out by the JSA method. Identification of potential threats in this research uses literature research methods, searches of national literature in the form of articles, journals and research. This research uses a comprehensive article search strategy in research journal databases and internet searches. The results of this study indicate that there are 36 identified hazards, the highest risks are in the loading phase of mining workers, namely dust exposure/inhalation, buried accidents and landslides. In the loading phase, during loading activities (transportation) is exposure/inhalation of dust, as well as in the unloading phase, namely subsidence due to underground collapse

Abstract

Waste can form as long as tofu processing is still running. Waste that is not disposed of properly can pollute the environment (Indah et al., 2014). This also occurs in the tofu manufacturing factory located in the Tanjung Morawa area, or more precisely Jalan Sultan Serdang, where tofu waste is available in solid and liquid forms. The froth that forms when washing soybeans is known as solid waste. The remaining pulp is usually called tofu dregs; However, when washing tofu, liquid waste is produced. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of liquid waste in tofu factories on environmental pollution in Kec. Tanjung Morawa to clarify the entire scope of the problem. This study uses a qualitative description approach, which assists in providing information, facts, and data. The research technique used was by interviewing and documenting the tofu factory workers. According to a study of liquid waste at the tofu factory on Jalan Sultan Serdang, Tanjung Morawa District, it has positive and negative impacts. Tofu Solid Waste has a good impact because it can be sold to cattle breeders to be processed into animal feed. Of course this will increase the income of the owner of the Tofu Business, but the negative impact will be pollution of water sources. This is because the liquid waste from the tofu industry is discharged directly into large trees which then flow into the river. There is a possibility that an unpleasant odor will be produced if it is not processed properly and disease will occur in workers due to the incomplete PPE used
