Abstract

Introduction: 3-month injection KB (Depo Progestin) is a contraceptive method that can be used effectively and has good working power for mothers. The use of 3-month injectable birth control aims to delay or prevent pregnancy, space pregnancies, and terminate pregnancies. Mother's knowledge plays an important role in choosing birth control; the more knowledge the mother has, the more influential she is in choosing injectable contraceptives. Based on Indonesia's profile data in 2019, there was an increase in contraceptive use in women, namely 50% to 64% in the 1991–2017 period, but in 2019 it decreased to 62.5%. The most dominant contraceptive method used in 2019 was the injection contraceptive method as much as 63.7% (Central Statistics Agency data) and based on health profile data for Central Java province in 2021, there is an increase in the use of injectable birth control among married women aged 15–49 years, namely 57.68%. Objective: This study aims to determine the determinants of mother's knowledge on the accuracy of choosing 3-month injectable birth control (Progestin Depo) in the working area of the Pringapus Health Center. Metodes: This research method uses a cross-sectional research method and a purposive sampling approach. The sample used in this study was 92 respondents, and the location of this research was in the working area of the Pringapus Health. Results: Based on data analysis the result is that mothers with good knowledge are 53 (57.7%) respondents, and the accuracy in choosing the answer "Yes" (correct) is 83 (90.2%) of respondents. Then the results obtained have a p-value of 0.002 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between the mother's knowledge and the accuracy of choosing 3-month injectable birth control (Progestin Depo) in the working area of the Pringapus Health Center.

Stress due to anxiety about facing labour impacts the length of the labour process and the welfare of the fetus. Providing CIE can increase mothers' knowledge and reduce the appearance of psychosocial factors such as ignorance and lack of attention from health workers, which have a negative impact, so that pregnant women are better prepared and anxiety in facing childbirth can be minimized. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of CIE preparation for delivery to reduce anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women facing labour. Sample: The sampling technique used accidental sampling and obtained a total sample of 54 respondents. Results: The results of the study were that Communication Information Educational (CIE) for childbirth preparation was effective in reducing anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women facing labour with a value of 0.00 (<0.005), where every single delivery of CIE for childbirth preparation can make third-trimester pregnant women potentially 6,280 times more likely to experience a decrease in the level of anxiety in facing childbirth (Z = 6,280). Of the 54 respondents, 52 (96.3%) experienced a decrease in their level of anxiety, there were no (0%) respondents who experienced an increase in their level of anxiety, and there were 2 (3.7%) respondents with a constant level of anxiety.

Abstract

The simultaneous use of herbal medicines and cardiovascular drugs is prevalent in Indonesia, a country rich in ethnomedicinal diversity. However, such combinations may lead to clinically significant herb–drug interactions, potentially compromising therapeutic efficacy and safety. This narrative review aims to summarize and evaluate the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions between commonly used Indonesian medicinal herbs and cardiovascular agents. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The included studies reported interactions involving cytochrome P450 modulation, P-glycoprotein activity, and receptor-level mechanisms. Medicinal plants such as Panax ginseng, Allium sativum, Ginkgo biloba, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Zingiber officinale, and Cassia species were found to affect drug absorption, metabolism, and bioavailability. These interactions, primarily through CYP3A4 and P-gp modulation, altered the pharmacokinetic profiles of drugs such as warfarin, digoxin, verapamil, and simvastatin. Some herbs also exert synergistic or antagonistic pharmacodynamic effects, particularly against anticoagulants and antihypertensives. Given the chronic nature of cardiovascular therapy, herb–drug interactions pose serious clinical concerns. Enhanced awareness and monitoring are essential to prevent adverse events and therapeutic failure. Further research is needed to establish safe and evidence-based integration of herbal medicines into cardiovascular care.

Abstract

Decision Making is an essential part of our daily living for private and public matters. These range from trivial to life-and-death situations. Man is endowed with the capacity and ability to make decisions on all earthy activities. Throughout this process, Islam demands that rationality and crucial analysis are applied before, during and after the event. In Sicknesses, intermittent or continuous decisions are often required. Apparently, the decisions are personal. However, as a patient, the recommendation or advice from the Healthcare Providers are almost mandatory for most. This is offered at the Point-of-Care. For Muslims, all advices and treatments must be lawful. Nevertheless, there could be bioethical controversies that need to be revealed and analyzed. Healthcare Providers and the patients are exposed to lots of information that may be conflicting, deceiving or irrelevant. Relying on such information may result in erroneous decisions. Healthcare Providers and Patients are in need of a common platform to direct and discuss about the most optimal options. The authors propose an Algorithmic Model, that incorporates maqāṣid shari‘ah, to simplify Decision Making at the Point-of-Care. This consists of determination of the primary medical condition(s) or issue(s), identification of key bioethical issue(s), information gathering and filtering, identification of permissibility and/or prohibitions, availability and limitation of relieves to reverse prohibitions, inputs from patient and other stakeholders leading to the recommended option. Uterus Transplantation has been advocated as treatment for Absolute Uterus Factor Infertility that is not uncommon in Muslim Countries. Through the discussion and analysis of its causes, importance of progeny, availability, permissibility and ethical considerations of various treatment options from the Islamic perspectives, this Algorithmic Model can be successfully applied at the Point-of-Care and assists patients and Healthcare Providers to make the lawful decision.

Abstract

Adolescents constitute an age group particularly vulnerable to psychological stress due to biological changes, social transitions, and academic demands. This study aims to analyze the role of the family as a protective factor in maintaining and enhancing adolescents’ psychological well-being. Employing a qualitative approach based on literature review, data were obtained from classical literature, books, and scholarly journals. The findings indicate that the forms of family support with the greatest influence include emotional support, open communication, and familial warmth. These results reinforce the theory that the family functions as a protective factor capable of mitigating the negative impact of stress and social pressure on adolescents. The study further recommends the importance of family empowerment programs to enhance the active role of parents in supporting adolescent mental health. Accordingly, strengthening family functions emerges as a strategic step toward fostering a younger generation that is more psychologically healthy and happy.
