Abstract

Background Managerial competence of school principals in Islamic educational institutions is often underdeveloped due to the absence of a systematically grounded development model that integrates Islamic leadership values with contemporary management science. Objective This study aims to construct a conceptual model of managerial competence development for school principals based on Islamic leadership principles and to identify strategic dimensions that support its implementation in Islamic educational institutions. Methodology Library research methodology was employed, utilizing reputable academic books and internationally indexed journal articles published within the last five years. Data collection was conducted through systematic documentation, followed by content analysis and referential adequacy verification for data validity. Results Findings establish a five-component Islamic leadership-based model encompassing visionary, ethical, communicative, strategic, and adaptive managerial competencies, each grounded in Quranic and Hadith principles.

Abstract

fabric bears a strategic responsibility to cultivate multicultural competencies among its students, yet the management of multicultural education curricula within madrasah contexts remains a largely undertheorized and inconsistently practiced domain. This study investigates the conceptual and implementative dimensions of multicultural education curriculum management in madrasah, pursuing three specific objectives: (1) to analyze the theoretical foundations of multicultural education and its epistemological compatibility with Islamic educational philosophy, (2) to identify the principal challenges in the managerial implementation of multicultural curricula in madrasah, and (3) to formulate an integrated model of multicultural curriculum management grounded in Islamic values of rahmatan lil'alamin, ta'aruf, and 'adl. Employing a systematic library research methodology drawing on thirty-two peer-reviewed sources published between 2020 and 2025, the study proposes the Islamic Multicultural Curriculum Management Model (IMCMM), comprising five interconnected components: multicultural needs analysis, value-integrated curriculum design, inclusive pedagogical implementation, authentic multicultural assessment, and sustainable curriculum evaluation. Implications for madrasah curriculum developers, principals, and educational policymakers are elaborated.

Abstract

The pesantren, as Indonesia's oldest and most distinctive Islamic educational institution, stands at a critical crossroads between the imperative to preserve its classical tradition of Islamic scholarship and the growing pressure to align its curriculum management with national education standards. While the enactment of Law Number 18 of 2019 on Pesantren formally recognized pesantren as a distinct educational entity within the national system, the managerial transformation of pesantren curricula toward national standards remains a complex and largely underresearched process. This study investigates the transformation of pesantren curriculum management toward national education standards, pursuing three specific objectives: (1) to analyze the conceptual tensions between pesantren's traditional curriculum paradigm and national education standards requirements, (2) to identify the principal challenges in the managerial transformation of pesantren curricula, and (3) to formulate an integrative model of pesantren curriculum transformation that preserves classical Islamic scholarly tradition while fulfilling national education standards. Employing a systematic library research methodology drawing on thirty-three peer-reviewed sources published between 2020 and 2025, the study proposes the Pesantren Integrative Curriculum Transformation Model (PICTM), a four-pillar framework balancing tafaqquh fiddin preservation with modern curriculum management principles.

Abstract

Interpersonal conflict within Islamic educational institutions constitutes a persistent yet underexamined Quality standards in Islamic education represent a critical and contested domain wherein national accreditation requirements, Islamic educational philosophy, and institutional governance practices converge with considerable complexity. Despite the Indonesian government's substantial investment in developing accreditation instruments for madrasah and Islamic educational institutions through the National Accreditation Board, persistent evidence indicates that accreditation processes frequently fail to capture the distinctive qualitative dimensions of Islamic educational excellence. This study investigates Islamic educational quality standards through the dual lens of accreditation and institutional governance, pursuing three objectives: (1) to critically analyze the conceptual architecture of Islamic educational quality standards and their relationship with accreditation frameworks, (2) to examine the gaps between accreditation-based quality measurement and authentic Islamic educational quality, and (3) to formulate an integrated quality governance model that reconciles accreditation requirements with holistic Islamic educational excellence. Employing a systematic library research methodology drawing on thirty-four peer-reviewed sources published between 2020 and 2025, the study proposes the Islamic Holistic Quality Governance Framework (IHQGF), a five-dimensional model integrating substantive Islamic educational quality with rigorous governance accountability mechanisms.

Abstract

Islamic educational institutions are currently facing increasingly complex challenges in terms of quality improvement, particularly in integrating universal quality management values with Islamic educational principles. This study aims to construct a conceptual model of Total Quality Management (TQM) grounded in Maqashid Sharia as a comprehensive framework for quality improvement at Islamic educational institutions. Employing a qualitative library research methodology, this study systematically examines primary and secondary sources consisting of books, reputable scientific journals, and relevant policy documents. Data were gathered through systematic documentation techniques, followed by a content analysis approach to identify patterns, relationships, and constructs relevant to TQM and Maqashid Sharia. The findings demonstrate that the five principal elements of Maqashid Sharia—encompassing the preservation of religion (hifzh al-din), intellect (hifzh al-aql), lineage (hifzh al-nasl), life (hifzh al-nafs), and property (hifzh al-mal)—can be organically integrated into TQM dimensions covering curriculum, human resources, institutional culture, service quality, and financial management. This integration offers a more holistic, values-driven, and contextually relevant quality management model for Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The accelerating pace of digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped organizational administration across sectors, including Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. Despite widespread discourse on digitalization, the specific application of digital office management within Islamic educational administration remains understudied, particularly in terms of its optimization strategies and contextual alignment with Islamic organizational values. This study aims to analyze the conceptual framework of digital office management, identify key optimization strategies applicable to Islamic educational institutions, and examine the implications of digital administrative systems for organizational effectiveness in Islamic education. A qualitative library research methodology was employed, drawing systematically on reputable academic journals, textbooks, and policy documents published within the last five years. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify patterns and propositions relevant to the research objectives. The findings reveal that optimized digital office management encompassing electronic document systems, integrated information platforms, digital communication protocols, and data-driven decision-making significantly enhances administrative efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Islamic educational institutions. The integration of Islamic organizational values within digital management systems is found to be essential for sustainable optimization.

Abstract

Program evaluation in Islamic educational institutions constitutes a critical yet persistently underperforming dimension of educational management, characterized by irregular practice, methodological inconsistency, and an absence of culturally responsive analytical frameworks. While Islamic educational institutions are mandated to conduct systematic program evaluations to ensure continuous quality improvement, evidence indicates that most institutions lack both the technical competency and the conceptual framework to deploy management analysis techniques effectively within their specific institutional contexts. This study investigates the effectiveness of management analysis techniques in the evaluation of Islamic education programs, pursuing three objectives: (1) to analyze the conceptual landscape of program evaluation and its applicability within Islamic educational management contexts, (2) to examine the principal management analysis techniques and their comparative effectiveness for Islamic education program evaluation, and (3) to formulate an integrated model of management analysis-based program evaluation grounded in Islamic values of muhasabah, islah, and hikmah. Employing a systematic library research methodology drawing on thirty-three peer-reviewed sources published between 2020 and 2025, the study proposes the Islamic Program Evaluation Management Framework (IPEMF), an integrated five-technique model that contextualizes established management analysis methods within Islamic educational values and practices.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has introduced novel forms of cybercrime that existing legal frameworks including Islamic jurisprudence have yet to fully address. This study examines the normative construction of Islamic law (fiqh) in responding to AI-generated crimes within the contemporary digital landscape. The primary objective is to identify foundational Islamic legal principles applicable to cybercrime facilitated by artificial intelligence and to formulate a coherent jurisprudential framework referred to as Cyber Fiqh (Fikih Siber). Employing a qualitative library research methodology, this study draws upon classical Islamic legal texts, contemporary fatwa documents, and peer-reviewed academic literature published within the last five years. Data were collected through systematic documentation and analyzed using content analysis and interpretive legal reasoning (ijtihad). The findings reveal that Islamic jurisprudence possesses robust principles—including maqashid al-syariah, maslahah mursalah, and the prohibition of dharar (harm)—that can be systematically applied to regulate AI-driven crimes such as deepfake manipulation, algorithmic fraud, autonomous cyberattacks, and AI-assisted surveillance. This study contributes to the emerging discourse on digital Islamic ethics and offers practical normative guidelines for Islamic educational management institutions navigating the challenges of the AI era.

Abstract

The managerial capacity of school principals constitutes the primary foundation in realizing effective, accountable, and quality governance of educational institutions. Field realities indicate that the majority of school principals, particularly in Islamic-based educational institutions, still face limitations in internalizing Islamic leadership values into their daily management practices. This study aims to examine, construct, and propose a model of school principal managerial competency development that organically integrates Islamic leadership principles as the spirit of every managerial dimension. The approach employed is qualitative with a library research method, relying on primary sources consisting of contemporary reference books and reputable national and international scientific journal articles. The analytical procedure was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the resulting model encompasses five main dimensions, namely: planning competency based on divine values, human resource management that emulates the character of the Prophet, development of an Islamic school climate, decision-making based on deliberation (musyawarah) and spiritual consultation (istikharah), as well as programmatic evaluation that is transparent and trustworthy (amanah). This model is expected to serve as a conceptual and practical reference for educational stakeholders in strengthening the capabilities of school principals in the era of national educational transformation.

Abstract

Pesantren educational institutions as indigenous Indonesian educational entities are currently facing multidimensional pressures of change, encompassing technological transformation, shifts in labor market needs, national accreditation demands, and increasingly high community expectations toward graduate quality. Amid such dynamics, many pesantren still rely on traditional management patterns without the adoption of adequate strategic management instruments, thereby potentially losing relevance and competitiveness. This study aims to identify, analyze, and formulate development strategies for pesantren educational institutions that synergistically integrate modern strategic management principles without abandoning the pesantren's value-based identity. The method employed is qualitative with a phenomenological approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies at several selected pesantren that are considered to have implemented elements of strategic management. Data analysis was conducted using source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that effective pesantren development strategies encompass four main pillars, namely: strategic planning based on contextual SWOT analysis, value-based human resource capacity development, diversification of educational programs that are adaptive to industry needs, and strengthening of a quality management system rooted in pesantren culture. The resulting model is expected to serve as an operational guide for pesantren administrators in facing the challenges of the educational globalization era.
