Abstract

Islamic organizational culture represents a foundational yet underexplored determinant of management quality in Islamic educational institutions. While organizational culture has received extensive attention in management literature broadly, its specific manifestation within Islamic educational contexts, and its operational relationship to management quality, remains insufficiently theorized. This study aims to analyze Islamic organizational culture as a foundational element of quality management in Islamic educational institutions, examining its conceptual dimensions, manifestations, and functional contributions. A systematic library research approach was employed, utilizing peer-reviewed articles, scholarly books, and policy documents published between 2019 and 2024. Findings demonstrate that Islamic organizational culture, when operationalized through values of tawhid, amanah, shura, and 'adalah, creates enabling conditions for quality management by fostering collective commitment, ethical accountability, and purposive collaboration. The study identifies a critical research gap: existing literature treats Islamic values and management quality as parallel concerns rather than as causally integrated phenomena. This paper proposes a Values-Driven Management Quality (VDMQ) framework that positions Islamic organizational culture as the transformative foundation of institutional excellence.

Abstract

The administrative management of Islamic educational institutions is undergoing profound transformation driven by the rapid proliferation of digital technologies and evolving governance expectations. Despite widespread acknowledgment that digital transformation is reshaping educational administration globally, the specific dynamics of this process within Islamic educational settings in Indonesia remain insufficiently documented and theorized. This study aims to examine the reform of administrative management in Islamic educational institutions within the context of digital governance, identifying the drivers, dimensions, and implications of this transformation. A systematic library research methodology was employed, utilizing peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and policy documents published between 2019 and 2024. The findings indicate that digital governance reform in Islamic educational administration encompasses three interconnected dimensions: technological adoption, institutional restructuring, and value alignment. A significant research gap was identified in the absence of frameworks that reconcile digital governance imperatives with the normative values of Islamic institutional management. This study proposes the Digital-Islamic Governance Integration (DIGI) model as a conceptual contribution toward bridging this gap.

Abstract

Islamic education financing management holds a strategic position in establishing institutional accountability and public trust. This study aims to examine the conceptual dimensions of transparency and accountability in Islamic education financing management through an in-depth literature review approach. The methodology employed is a qualitative library research method by systematically analyzing primary and secondary sources consisting of books, scientific journals, and relevant policy documents. The results of this study indicate that transparency and accountability in Islamic education financing are not merely technical administrative obligations, but are deeply rooted in the principles of Islamic governance (Islamic governance values), namely amanah (trustworthiness), adl (justice), and masuliyyah (responsibility). The study further reveals that the integration of a sound financial governance framework, robust internal control mechanisms, and a participatory culture among educational stakeholders significantly reinforces the quality of financial reporting and the credibility of Islamic educational institutions. The conceptual gap identified in this study pertains to the absence of a comprehensive and integrative model that holistically bridges the Islamic normative values with modern financial management practices in the context of Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Madrasah as Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia faces a persistent challenge in building a sustainable quality culture that is simultaneously aligned with modern educational standards and rooted in its distinctive Islamic identity. This study aims to construct a conceptual model of madrasah quality culture development grounded in pesantren-based values, encompassing ikhlas (sincerity), tawadhu (humility), ukhuwah (brotherhood), tafaqquh fi al-din (deep religious understanding), and istiqamah (consistency). Employing a systematic library research methodology, this study analyzed authoritative books published within the last five years and reputable peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus and national accredited journals. Findings reveal that pesantren values are not merely spiritual ornaments but serve as structural pillars of an authentic quality culture that shapes collective behavior, strengthens organizational commitment, and drives continuous improvement. The proposed model integrates five interconnected dimensions: value internalization, leadership exemplification, systemic habituation, reflective evaluation, and sustainable renewal. This framework offers practical and contextually grounded guidance for madrasah principals and educational policymakers seeking to strengthen institutional quality from within.

Abstract

The accelerating wave of digital transformation has created both opportunities and challenges for Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia, particularly in reforming their administrative management systems. Traditional pesantren, which have long relied on paper-based and manually operated administrative processes, are now increasingly pressured to adopt digital solutions to meet modern demands for efficiency, transparency, and accountability. This study aims to examine the conceptual foundations, implementation strategies, and institutional outcomes of digitalization in pesantren administrative management through the lens of efficiency and accountability. Employing a systematic library research methodology, this study analyzed peer-reviewed journal articles, authoritative management textbooks, and relevant policy documents published within the last five years. Findings indicate that digitalization significantly enhances administrative efficiency by reducing processing time, minimizing human error, and improving data accessibility. Furthermore, digital systems strengthen institutional accountability by enabling transparent financial reporting, traceable decision-making processes, and improved stakeholder communication. The study concludes by proposing a contextually grounded framework for sustainable digital transformation in pesantren administration.

Abstract

Institutional risk management in Islamic educational institutions faces the dual challenge of navigating modern organizational uncertainties while adhering to Islamic theological principles. This study examines the conceptual and practical integration of ikhtiar (earnest effort) and tawakkal (complete reliance on God) as foundational principles in managing institutional risks within Islamic educational organizations. The objective of this research is to construct a comprehensive theoretical framework that synthesizes contemporary risk management models with the aforementioned Islamic principles, thereby offering a contextually relevant approach for madrasah and pesantren administrators. Employing a systematic library research methodology, this study analyzed peer-reviewed academic sources, authoritative Islamic scholarly works, and reputable institutional management texts published within the last five years. Findings reveal that the integration of ikhtiar and tawakkal does not contradict rational risk management practices; rather, it enriches strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and organizational resilience. Institutions that operationalize these principles demonstrate greater adaptive capacity, ethical governance, and community trust. This framework offers practical implications for policymakers, school principals, and educational managers seeking to strengthen governance quality in Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to construct a madrasah governance model integrating Good Governance principles and Islamic values as a framework for improving the quality of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. The urgency of this research stems from the persistent gap between normative governance standards and their actual application in madrasah environments, which are characterized by unique socio-religious dynamics. Through a systematic library research (studi pustaka) methodology, this study examined and synthesized relevant academic literature, policy documents, and empirical findings published over the last decade. Data were gathered from reputable national and international journals, as well as reference books in Islamic educational management. The analysis employed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that an effective madrasah governance model must integrate five core dimensions: transparency, accountability, participation, rule of law, and responsiveness — each reinterpreted through the lens of Islamic values such as amanah, shura, adalah, and mas'uliyyah. This integrated model bridges the structural demands of modern governance with the spiritual foundations of Islamic education, offering a comprehensive and contextually sensitive framework.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has fundamentally reshaped how educational institutions communicate their value propositions to prospective students and stakeholders. Islamic educational institutions, however, have been considerably slow in adapting their marketing management strategies to this digital transformation, particularly in harmonizing contemporary digital branding practices with Shariah principles. This study aims to reconstruct a marketing management model for Islamic education grounded in the concept of digital branding Shariah an integrative framework that synthesizes digital marketing strategies with the ethical and theological imperatives of Islamic teachings. Employing a systematic library research methodology, this study analyzed and synthesized relevant academic literature, including reputable national and international journals and reference books published within the last five years. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings propose a reconstructed model comprising four interrelated dimensions: Shariah-compliant digital identity, value-based content marketing, halal digital community engagement, and ethical digital accountability. This model offers a contextually grounded and operationally feasible pathway for Islamic educational institutions to enhance their competitiveness while preserving their identity and integrity.

Abstract

Contemporary humanitarian crises encompassing climate change, forced displacement, social inequality, and biotechnological ethical dilemmas increasingly demand that Islamic scholarship offer coherent, contextually grounded, and morally authoritative responses that transcend the limitations of classical textual interpretation. This study investigates the epistemological reconstruction of maqashidi tafsir as a methodological framework for responding to contemporary humanitarian crises, pursuing three specific objectives (1) to analyze the epistemological foundations and developmental trajectory of maqashidi tafsir as a distinct hermeneutical approach within Islamic thought, (2) to identify the principal epistemological limitations of classical tafsir methodologies in addressing the complexity and urgency of contemporary humanitarian crises, and (3) to formulate a reconstructed epistemological framework for maqashidi tafsir that enables generative, justice-oriented, and contextually responsive interpretations of the Quran in confronting contemporary humanitarian challenges. Employing a systematic library research methodology drawing on thirty-five peer-reviewed sources published between 2020 and 2025, the study proposes the Reconstructive Maqashidi Hermeneutics Framework (RMHF), a five-dimensional interpretive model integrating classical maqashid theory with contemporary humanitarian ethics.

Abstract

Concerns about declining academic performance in public primary schools in Nigeria have increasingly been linked to inadequate provision and poor maintenance of learning facilities. These facilities are essential for creating a conducive learning environment and supporting effective teaching and learning processes. This study examined the relationship between learning facilities and pupils’ academic performance in public primary schools in Ondo North Senatorial District, Nigeria, with a specific focus on the availability and maintenance of such facilities. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design complemented with an ex post facto approach. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 130 teachers from 39 public primary schools. Data were collected using a researcher-developed Learning Facilities Questionnaire (LFQ) and a Pupils’ Academic Performance Proforma (PAPP). The reliability coefficient of the LFQ was established at 0.79. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that the availability and maintenance of learning facilities in the study area are generally low. However, pupils’ academic performance was found to be high. The results further indicated significant positive relationships between the availability of learning facilities and pupils’ academic performance, as well as between the maintenance of facilities and academic performance. The study concludes that although learning facilities are inadequate, their availability and condition remain important factors associated with pupils’ academic outcomes. The study contributes to knowledge by providing context-specific evidence and by examining both availability and maintenance of facilities within a unified analytical framework.
