Abstract

This community service aims to describe the implementation of Qur’an learning assistance activities at TPQ Nawwiyatul Ikhsan Sidoarjo and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving students’ ability to read the Qur’an. This study uses a qualitative approach with the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which emphasizes active involvement between the researcher, ustadzah (female teacher), and 20 students in the learning process. The mentoring activities are carried out systematically through several stages, such as reading practice, tajwid instruction, and tiered evaluation using the Ummi method. The findings show an improvement in students’ reading fluency, understanding of tajwid, and learning motivation. Before the mentoring program, some students were not yet fluent in reading the Qur’an; after the program, their reading ability improved. A conducive and interactive learning environment also contributes to increasing students’ confidence. In addition, parental involvement is one of the main supporting factors for the success of the program. Therefore, Qur’an learning assistance based on collaboration and a participatory approach is considered effective in improving Qur’anic literacy as well as forming positive character among students

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase awareness and foster environmentally responsible behavior through waste management socialization in Durinan Village, Bangkalan Regency. The main problem faced by the community is the low level of understanding regarding the sorting and processing of household waste, which has traditionally been handled in simple ways, such as burning or disposing of it without proper management. This activity involved 9 participants consisting of housewives and village youth. The method used in this program is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, with data collection techniques including field observations, group discussions, and questionnaire distribution. This approach emphasizes the utilization of community assets as the foundation for program implementation. Through the socialization activities, participants were provided with an understanding of different types of waste, particularly organic and inorganic waste, as well as the importance of proper and sustainable waste management. The results show an improvement in community understanding of waste management. Based on questionnaire results, 2 participants demonstrated initial awareness of waste management, 3 participants began managing waste independently, and 4 participants reduced plastic usage and practiced sorting organic and inorganic waste at the household level. In addition, early behavioral changes were observed, such as the habit of separating waste and efforts to reduce plastic consumption. Active community participation throughout the program also served as an indicator of its success. However, behavioral change requires time and continuous support, both in terms of facilities and assistance. Therefore, this activity is effective as an initial step in building community-based environmental awareness and responsible behavior

Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) has introduced various changes to Indonesia’s criminal justice system, particularly regarding the strengthening of the rights of suspects and defendants, the guilty plea mechanism, the implementation of restorative justice, and the regulation of ordinary and summary trial procedures. These changes require greater procedural legal literacy, particularly among correctional inmates, to enable them to understand their legal status, rights, and the procedural options available throughout the criminal justice process. This community service activity aimed to improve the understanding of correctional inmates at the Class I Depok State Detention Center regarding preparations for criminal trial proceedings under the new Criminal Procedure Code. Particular emphasis was placed on the rights of suspects and defendants, the stages of criminal proceedings, access to legal assistance, and available case-resolution mechanisms. The activity involved 36 correctional inmates and was conducted through interactive lectures and question-and-answer discussions supported by instructional materials. The topics covered included the right to legal representation by an advocate and the possibility of resolving cases through restorative justice. The results demonstrated that the participants gained a better understanding of the stages of criminal trial proceedings, their procedural rights, and the importance of obtaining legal assistance when facing criminal proceedings. The interactive discussions also indicated an improvement in the participants’ ability to identify legal issues related to their position as individuals involved in the criminal justice process.

Abstract

The status of being a suspect or defendant is often misunderstood as the loss of all legal rights, including civil rights that remain inherent in every individual as a subject of civil law. This misconception contradicts the principle of the presumption of innocence and may potentially harm family members and other parties who have legal relationships with the suspect or defendant. This community service activity aimed to improve the legal literacy of inmates at Class I Depok State Detention Center (Rutan I Depok) regarding civil rights that remain applicable throughout the criminal justice process, in accordance with the new paradigm introduced by Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). The activity was conducted on June 24, 2026, involving 36 inmates, using an educational lecture method combined with case studies and question-and-answer discussion sessions. The materials covered asset ownership rights, family relationships and child custody rights, civil legal actions during detention, protection of employment relationships, as well as legal protection mechanisms through pretrial proceedings and civil lawsuits. The results demonstrated an increase in participants’ awareness regarding the continuity of civil rights and the importance of legally protecting civil interests. Therefore, this activity is relevant as an initial step toward strengthening civil rights protection for vulnerable groups within detention environments.

Abstract

Community service certainly cannot be separated from the impact that the community wants to feel, either directly or indirectly. The value of Islam is felt to be decreasing along with the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the whole world, especially in Indonesia. Empowerment of TPQ or other places of worship is aimed at increasing religious values, especially Islam in the community. The method used in this paper is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of literature and field studies. It started with a discussion with the Village Head and religious leaders, then counseling and socialization about worship, simulation and evaluation of activities as well as monitoring of worship and muamalah activities. The purpose of this assistance is none other than to increase the value of Islam, both in terms of worship and muamalah. The empowerment of TPQ or places of worship as a center of activity as well as increasing Islamic values is strongly supported by the surrounding community, because it has a positive impact on the community and the surrounding environment

Abstract

A sale and purchase agreement is one of the forms of agreement commonly carried out in everyday life. However, in practice, some members of the community still conduct buying and selling transactions verbally or without written documentation, which may lead to misunderstandings and disputes in the future. This community service activity aimed to improve the understanding and legal awareness of youth in Banyurip Village, Sambungmacan District, Sragen Regency, regarding the importance of written sale and purchase agreements as a form of legal protection and an effort to prevent default. The activity employed an educational and participatory approach consisting of observation, socialization, training, assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. The materials provided covered the definition, forms, and types of sale and purchase agreements, the importance of written agreements, and the practical procedures for preparing and completing written agreements, including the use of stamp duty and agreements without stamp duty. The results of the activity indicated that the socialization, training, and assistance improved the participants' understanding of the importance of written documents in sale and purchase transactions. The participants also gained practical knowledge regarding the preparation and implementation of sale and purchase agreements, enabling them to clarify the rights and obligations of the parties and minimize potential conflicts and disputes. This activity is expected to increase community awareness of the importance of using written agreements in sale and purchase transactions as a form of legal protection.
