Abstract

Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is an ophthalmologic emergency currently classified as a form of retinal ischemic stroke. Lipid profile disturbances are thought to contribute through atherosclerosis, cholesterol embolism, endothelial dysfunction, and increased thromboembolic susceptibility. This study systematically reviewed the scientific evidence regarding the association of hyperlipidemia with CRAO. A systematic review with narrative synthesis was conducted of observational, cohort, case-control studies, scientific reviews, and scientific statements discussing CRAO or retinal artery occlusion (RAO) and lipid profiles, hyperlipidemia, or dyslipidemia. Available literature indicates that hyperlipidemia is a common comorbidity in CRAO. EAGLE data reported hypercholesterolemia in 49% of patients with non-arteritic CRAO. Another clinical audit found previously undiagnosed hyperlipidemia in 36% of CRAO patients. A Korean national cohort study demonstrated that higher HDL levels were associated with a reduced risk of RAO, while biomarker studies found that elevated LDL-C, non-HDL-C, and ApoB were associated with a higher risk of RAO. Hyperlipidemia is associated with an increased risk of CRAO/RAO, primarily through an atherogenic lipid profile. However, most evidence is observational and often conflates CRAO with RAO in general, thus limiting direct causal inference. Keywords: CRAO, central retinal artery occlusion, hyperlipidemia, dyslipidemia, LDL, HDL, retinal stroke.

Abstract

Indonesia as a constitutional state mandates the protection of environmental quality, particularly in the mining sector which often causes significant pollution. This study aims to analyze the criteria of environmental pollution elements from theoretical and juridical perspectives, and to examine their application in handling mining sector pollution cases. Using normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches, this study compares theoretical concepts (ecological, ethical, and philosophical) with positive law provisions under Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management. The findings reveal a fundamental discrepancy: theoretically, pollution is determined by ecological disruption and harm to ecosystems or human health, while juridically, pollution is strictly defined by exceeding pre-determined environmental quality standards (baku mutu). This disharmony is evident in the PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (Buyat Bay) case, where despite evident ecological damage and public health impacts, the court acquitted the defendants because laboratory results showed pollutant concentrations remained below the formal quality standards. The study concludes that the narrow juridical approach creates legal loopholes allowing actual polluters to escape criminal liability. Recommendations include revising Law No. 32/2009 to incorporate ecological impact criteria beyond rigid quality standards, and adopting a more holistic judicial approach that balances legal certainty with environmental justice. Abstract

This study investigates the influence of teacher character management and learning material mastery on the competence of public vocational high school teachers in Minahasa Regency, analyzing both factors partially and simultaneously. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional survey design, the study involved a sample of 105 teachers selected through proportional stratified random sampling from a population of 355 teachers across 11 public vocational high schools. The study utilized a validated Likert-scale questionnaire, with data analysis including descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression using SPSS version 27. The results revealed that teacher character management significantly positively affects teacher competence (t=18.914; p<0.001; R²=0.776), as does learning material mastery (t=18.690; p<0.001; R²=0.772), with both variables together explaining 77.7% of teacher competence variance (F=177.214; p<0.001; R²=0.777). The high correlation (r=0.997) between these two variables indicates a strong synergy between soft and hard competences in shaping teacher competence. The study concludes that the integrative soft-hard competence model is a powerful predictor of vocational teacher competence, recommending professional development programs that combine character development with enhancing TPACK/AI-TPACK mastery, along with policies for industrial internships of at least 40 hours per year for vocational teachers. Keywords: teacher character management, learning material mastery, teacher competence, TPACK, AI-TPACK, vocational high school, Minahasa

Abstract

Abstract The development of information technology in the digital era has led to various innovations, one of which is Artificial Intelligence that provides convenience in many aspects of human life. However, the advancement of this technology also creates new legal problems, particularly in the form of increasingly complex cybercrime. The use of artificial intelligence enables system hacking, data theft, information manipulation, and digital fraud carried out automatically, which causes difficulties in law enforcement. The existing legal regulations in Indonesia have generally governed cybercrime through the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions and other related regulations, but they have not specifically regulated the misuse of Artificial Intelligence as a means of committing criminal acts. The purpose of this study is to analyze the legal regulation of the misuse of Artificial Intelligence in cybercrime and to examine the form of legal responsibility for perpetrators who use such technology. This research uses normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. The results show that the development of artificial intelligence technology creates complexity in law enforcement because the system can operate automatically and involve multiple parties. In principle, legal responsibility remains imposed on humans as perpetrators, either as developers, users, or parties who benefit from the use of the technology. Therefore, more adaptive legal regulations, stronger law enforcement, and improved digital literacy are needed in order to prevent the misuse of Artificial Intelligence in cybercrime and to ensure legal certainty for society.
