Abstract

This study was aimed at determining the impact of peer acceptance on well-being in adolescents. Respondents used in this study were teenagers in the city of Yogyakarta with age range of 14-15 years old (N = 385). In this study, the researcher used an instrument in the form of a well-being by Ryff questionnaire that was modified according to the social and cultural conditions in the city of Yogyakarta to measure well-being in respondents used. On the scale of peer acceptance, researchers use sociometry with roster and rating modeling. The hypothesis proposed in this study was that peer acceptance could influence well-being in adolescents. Reliability analysis on the instrument used was carried out using Cronbach's Alpha analysis. This study used simple regression to determine the effect of peer acceptance on well-being in adolescents. The result shows that peer acceptance has an influence on well-being in adolescents. Although the effect produced was not significant, but it proves that it is quite important for adolescents to be accepted in their social environment to be able to obtain a well-being situation in themselves.Keywords: peer acceptance, well-being, adolescent

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis isu sosial dengan lebih terperinci dalam karya kartun editorial Jamdin Buyong yang telah terbit dalam koranSabah Times pada tahun 1967. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Dalam penyelidikan ini, pendekatan kualitatif akan digunakan dalam menganalisis kandungan (content analysis). Pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan 3 sumber yaitu sumber primer, sekunder, dan sumber lisan. Sumber primer dalam penelitian ini adalah kartun editorial Jamdin Buyong. Sumber sekunder diperoleh darisumber-sumber berbentuk koran, buku-buku sejarah, jurnal, disertasi dan sebagainya. Sumber lisan (temubual) disifatkan sebagai sebuah saluran kepada pengkaji. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam kajian ini ialah teknik menganalisis dokumen, dan data temubual. Hasil kajian ini membuktikan bahwa penghasilan kartun dalam bentuk representasi atau simbolik digunakan pelukis untuk membuat pernyataan kritikan yang bersifat lucu, tajam atau menyindir. Tujuannya adalah untuk menyampaikan pesan, nasihat dan pengajaran kepada masyarakat yang menyandarkan nilai-nilai positif dan moral yang baik kepada masyarakat. Kandungan nilai-nilai dalam kartun ini memperlihatkan isu sosial pemuda dan pemudi yang berlaku sejak era tahun 60-an hingga kini.SIGNS, OBJECTS, AND INTERPRETANTS WITHIN JAMDIN BUYONG’S EDITORIAL CARTOONSThis study aims to analyse social issues contained in Jamdin Buyong's editorial cartoons, published in the Sabah Times newspaper in 1967, in details. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were mainly collected from three sources, namely primary, secondary, and oral sources by using documentation techniques. The primary sourceswereJamdin Buyong's editorial cartoons while the secondarycamefrom newspapers, history books, journals, dissertations and so on. Lastly, the oral sources were obtained from reviewers. The results of this study indicated that cartoonswhich were made to containportrayalsor symbolswere used by cartoonists to deliver critiqueswhichwere funny, sharp or satirical.This was done to getmessages, advice and lessonsacrossto societiesupholding positive values and decentmorals. The values contained in the cartoons portrayedsocial issues experienced by young men and women since the 1960s era, yet are still relevant nowadays.

Abstract

This study is aims to determine the implementation of corporate social responsibility in the form of “Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL) at PT Madubaru and the obstacles, and to determine the impact of the implementation of corporate social responsibility, both for companies and for local communities who were targets PKBL. This study is a descriptive study with qualitative approach. Subject of study is determined by purposive and snowball technique. The data was collected by interviews and document studies. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using inductive analysis. The results suggest that corporate social responsibility that is implemented is still largely in the form of momentary fulfillment, not to the aspect of sustainability as intended in community development. Obstacles encountered in implementing PKBL is difficult to find small businesses that fit with the company's business activities, the difficulty of finding good business-minded and responsible, and not compatibles PKBL budget allocation for the activity by the number of requests, so the funds are rolled still considered small by the community. The impact of the implementation is not optimal PKBL felt, because, although PT Madubaru has implemented PKBL in various activities and felt there was a good relationship with the local community that is created through the implementation PKBL, but on the other side of the perceived benefit of trained partners and target communities to the extent not empower society

Abstract

Abstract This study was aimed to test statistically the relationship between gender bias and teacher’s attribution towards student’s successes and failures, to measure the strength of influence of the aforementioned variable on the dependent variable, and to explore empirically the existence of such bias in teacher’s attribution. Three hypotheses rose from theoretical analyses to the problem. Firstly, there are relationship between gender bias and teacher’s attribution towards student’s successes and failures. Secondly, there are significant difference between teacher’s attribution toward male and female students in which achievement of male students more attributed to their internal capability, whereas female student’s achievement attributed to external factors, which are degree difficult of the task and luckiness. Thirdly, there are significant differences between teacher’s perception, in respect to their sexes, about suitable areas of career for male and female students. This research was based on quantitative approach, where correlation and difference tests are used. The sample was 68 teachers of Senior High Schools in Yogyakarta, which was chosen according to predetermined criteria. Results showed that level of gender bias among the respondents was low, there was no significant correlation between gender bias and teacher’s attribution towards student’s successes and failures. Moreover samples tended to attribute internal factors as the causes of student’s achievement, in other words, factors found not to be favorite in teacher’s attribution. In addition, this research found that there were differences in their perception about suitable field of career for students, in respects to their sexes, in which those required physical strength and mobility perceived as more suitable for male, such as technical works. On the other hand, fields which require artistry and laboratory works perceived as more suitable for male students. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap tiga hal, yaitu: (1) konsep pemahaman guru tentang kekuasaan; (2) motif guru dalam memilih menjadi pejabat di jajaran birokrasi pemerintah; (3) cara guru dalam meraih kekuasaan birokrasi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif model fenomenologis di wilayah kabupaten Bantul. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) guru memahami kekuasaan sebagai amanah dan peluang untuk terlibat dalam pembangunan pendidikan. Apabila amanah datang maka wajib bagi guru untuk menerima dan menjalankannya. (2) motif guru memilih menjadi pejabat di birokrasi pemerintah adalah agar menjadi pelaku langsung dalam pembangunan pendidikan. Menjadi pejabat bagi guru adalah penting dari pada jabatan tersebut dipegang oleh orang yang tidak mengetahui pendidikan. Apabila jabatan dipegang oleh orang yang tidak memahami pendidikan akan berakibat fatal. (3) Cara guru dalam meraih kekuasaan birokrasi adalah melalui PGRI. Penguasa sangat berkepentingan terhadap PGRI dalam rangka menguasai guru, begitu juga guru melalui PGRI dapat lebih dekat dengan penguasa

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to find the positive correlation of perception of pay system with organizational commitment. Especially it aimed to know: 1) the positive correlation of each perception of pay system aspects with organizational commitment; 2) the positive correlation of perception of pay system with three organizational commitment aspects (affective, continuance, normative). This study involved 95 employees of PT Kusuma Sandang Mekarjaya Yogyakarta as respondents. Data were collected by using two scales to employees; those were perception of pay system scale and organizational commitment scale. Based on regression analysis found:1) there was a very significantly positive correlation of perception of pay system with organizational commitment; 2) there were very significantly positive correlations of each perception of pay system aspects with organizational commitment, and 3)there were very significantly positive correlation of perception of pay system with three organizational commitment aspects (affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment) Keywords: perception of pay system, organizational commitment (affective, continuance, normative)

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali potensi bakteri yang resisten terhadap merkuri sebagai biosorbent merkuri. Melalui penelitian ini telah diisolasi 64 isolat bakteri yang resisten terhadap 3 macam senyawa merkuri pada konsentrasi 1µg/ml. bakteri tersebut diisolasi dari air dan sedimen Sungai Banjir Kanal Barat Semarang dengan metode enrichment. Selanjutnya dilakukan seleksi untuk memperoleh isolate yang paling resisten terhadap merkuri dengan cara meneumbuhkannya dalam medium yang mengandung merkuri pada konsentrasi yang semakin meningkat.Hasil seleksi menetapkan isolate no 11(Pseudomonas sp) sebagai isolate yang paling resisten karena mampu tumbuh dengan baik pada konsentrasi merkuri (sebagai HgCl) 20µg/ml. Isolat ini selanjutnya dipakai dalam penelitian yang mencangkup pengaruh senyawa merkuri(HgCl2) terhadap pertumbuhan sel bakteri, kemampuan sel bakteri mengaakumulasikan merkuri dari medium selama pertumbuhan, dan pada system  resting cell, serta penentuan letak akumulasi merkuri pada sel bakteri. Pertumbuhan sel bakteri dipantau dengan spektrofometer pada panjang gelombang 600nm, sedangkan konsentrasi merkuri ditentukan dengan Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan bahwa pertumbuhan sel bakteri terhambat kecuali bila inoculum ditumbuhkan dalam medium yang mengandung merkuri. Bakteri yang ditumbuhkan dalam medium cair yang mengandung merkuri dari medium pertumbuhan sebesar 94% selama tiga jam masa inkubasi, dan ditemukan pula bahwa 85% merkuriyang hilang dari medium diakumulasikan di dlam sel. System resting cell tidak mampu menurunkan konsentrasi merkuri dalam larutan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) kearifan lokal masyarakat Baduy yang tinggal di Desa Kanekes, Kecamatan Leuwidamar, Kabupaten Lebak Provinsi Banten, dan (2) kearifan lokal yang berkaitan dengan mitigasi bencana alam gempa bumi, banjir, tanah longsor, dan kebakaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Analisis data secara kualitatif, melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, hingga pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Baduy, tetap memegang kuat kepercayaan dan adat istiadatnya serta meniti hari demi hari dengan penuh kearifan. Kepercayaan dan adat istiadat itu menjadi pikukuh (aturan) yang senantiasa menjadi falsafah hidup dan keseharian masyarakat Baduy. Kearifan lokal masyarakat Baduy berkaitan dengan  mitigasi bencana gempa bumi, tanah longsor, banjir, dan kebakaran tercermin dalam (1) tradisi perladangan, yakni dengan aturan pemilihan lokasi ladang (huma), waktu berladang, tata cara membuka dan membakar lahan, hingga peralatan yang diperbolehkan untuk digunakan. Tradisi perladangan menghindarkan dari bahaya longsor, dan kebakaran. (2) Aturan dan pikukuh dalam membuat bangun bangunan rumah, jembatan, lumbung, dan sebagainya dengan bahan bambu, ijuk, dan kirey tanpa paku. Bangunan didirikan di atas tanah menyesuaikan kontur tanah, didirikan di atas umpak, tidak diperbolehkan mengubah kontur tanah. Hal itu merupakan mitigasi terhadap bencana gempa, longsor, banjir, dan kebakaran.(3) Pembagian zona hutan dalam tiga wilayah sebagai wujud nyata pelestarian ekosistem dan merupakan mitigasi terhadap bencana longsor, banjir, erosi, dan bencana lainnya.
