Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the forms of teacher’s Perceived School Organizational Support. This quantitative study was carried out based on a survey in the form of open questionnaire that allowed research subjects to answer freely. The subjects in this study were 97 high school teachers from four schools in Bantul and one school in the Municipality of Yogyakarta. They were selected through multistage cluster random. Data were analyzed using quantitative analysis, particularly that of percentage technique. It can be synthesized from the results of this study that (1) teacher’s Perceived School Organizational Support has four-dimensions which encompass convenient physical work environment (41%), professional development (27%), attention from the leaders (18%) and comfortable social work environment (14%); and (2) the emotional responses toward School Organizational Support are various, such as feeling happy, satisfied, better, and motivated, working comfortably, increasing work motivation, possessing positive thinking, as well as believing in self-development. Keywords: school organizational support, professional development PERSEPSI GURU SMA NEGERI TERHADAP DUKUNGAN ORGANISASI SEKOLAH Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi bentuk-bentuk dukungan organisasi sekolah yang dirasakan (Perceived School Organization Support) oleh guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian survei. Subjek berjumlah 97 orang guru SMU yang terdiri atas 4 sekolah mewakili Kabupaten Bantul dan 1 sekolah mewakili Kodya Yogyakarta. Pemilihan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan melalui teknik multistage cluster random. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket terbuka yang memungkinkan subjek penelitian menjawab secara bebas. Validitas angket diperoleh lewat professional judgment. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis kuantitatif dengan teknik persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa: (1) empat dimensi dukungan sekolah yang merupakan bentuk-bentuk dukungan organisasi sekolah yang dirasakan guru antara lain kenyamanan lingkungan fisik kerja (41%), pengembangan profesi (27%), perhatian pimpinan (18%), dan kenyamanan lingkungan sosial kerja (14%); (2) respon emosi yang muncul dengan adanya dukungan sekolah antara lain senang, puas, nyaman bekerja, menambah semangat kerja, positive thinking terhadap sekolah, perasaan mampu mengembangkan diri, termotivasi, merasa sejahtera, dan merasa dihargai. Abstract

The purpose of this multi-year study is to identify the mastery of counseling skills of guidance teachers in Yogyakarta. A proportional sample of 33 junior high, senior high and vocational school guidance teachers in Yogyakarta participate in the study as research subjects. The research data are collected using a questionnaire instrument of counseling skills mastery and analyzed by quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results show that: 1) There are some counseling skills that are often used, but have not been mastered well. Some of these skills of counseling are attending, asking questions, giving support, clarifying, problem solving, focusing, and giving encouragement. 2) Most of the guidance teachers have not used these skills optimally in the counseling process. The suggestion of this study is to improve the mastery of the guidance teachers counseling skills through training, either through role playing or through practicing directly in handling cases. Teaching materials such as modules that assess counseling skills are needed. In addition, the schools need to provide support for guidance teachers to develop their performance by following the training to improve their mastery of counseling skills

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah 1) menentukan komitmen mahasiswa sebagai guru bimbingan dan konseling (BK); 2) menentukan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pekerjaan sebagai guru BK. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 67 orang mahasiswa prodi Bimbingan dan Konseling. Pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pengumpulan datanya menggunakan skala psikologis dan angket. Sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Skala Komitmen Pekerjaan dan juga Angket Persepsi Pekerjaan. Data yang dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan dua instrumen tersebut dianalisis dengan deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil kesimpulannya adalah 1) komitmen mahasiswa BK terhadap pekerjaan sebagai guru BK tergolong cukup baik; 2) komitmen ini lebih banyak didominasi oleh komponen afektif, jika dibandingkan dengan komitmen kalkulatif dan normatif; 3) persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pekerjaan sebagai guru BK dalam memenuhi kebutuhan ekonomi cukup baik, dan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sosial dan kebutuhan psikologi sangat baik.   Kata kunci: komitmen pekerjaan, afektif, kalkulatif, normatif

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to find the positive correlation of perception of pay system with organizational commitment. Especially it aimed to know: 1) the positive correlation of each perception of pay system aspects with organizational commitment; 2) the positive correlation of perception of pay system with three organizational commitment aspects (affective, continuance, normative). This study involved 95 employees of PT Kusuma Sandang Mekarjaya Yogyakarta as respondents. Data were collected by using two scales to employees; those were perception of pay system scale and organizational commitment scale. Based on regression analysis found:1) there was a very significantly positive correlation of perception of pay system with organizational commitment; 2) there were very significantly positive correlations of each perception of pay system aspects with organizational commitment, and 3)there were very significantly positive correlation of perception of pay system with three organizational commitment aspects (affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment) Keywords: perception of pay system, organizational commitment (affective, continuance, normative)

Abstract

Although there has been extensive research on job satisfaction, the theoretical possibilities may be limited. In general, most of the research focuses only on job-demand factors. However, this study focuses on the emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction. Using the 5th wave of IFLS data, this study aims to determine the effect of marital status upon the relationship between emotional and physical demands on employee satisfaction in Indonesia. The results of research from 19,395 Indonesian employees show that marital status is a mediator in the relationship between emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction. The findings suggest that marital status underpins negative outcomes of emotional and physical demands on job satisfaction in Indonesia. Additionally, the present study found that gender differences affect job satisfaction. Traditional role values and gender concepts are discussed. demand; physical demands; marital status

Abstract

Education  institute  is  a  organization  having  import ant  role  in giving quality of education service, what as a whole holding responsible' yield quality of human resource. In education service management required by correct handling and checking, but which often happened is existence of human errors which be not parried. The mistake of man 'even affect at education institute performance in executing education serviceHuman errors  actually can be eliminated if job  process  can be designed in such a manner by paying attention to man factors and work environment.  In  reaching  the  education  management  efficiency,  5S management  as first step a management. 5S  management   is' a approach  giving  pressure  at  workplace organizing better. Abstract

One of the relevant issues to current condition is the diversity in society. This is the result of mobility and information stream which develops more and more rapidly. Foreign cultural values flow into thesociety, following the stream and give positive as well as negativeimpacts.This condition of diversity is often assumed as a threat for the unity of nation and state. Oftentimes, certain rules and regulations made as theresponds to the diversity turn out to be a facility for the majority culture to dominate. The slogan of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (unity in diversity) as aninheritance of the New Order era constitutes the case which shows howmulti-cultures was incorrectly managed by disregarding multiculturalismitself. An assumption that diversity will endanger the wholeness of ournation becomes the reason to force the diversity be kept in an integrityand unity, which eventually leads to the existence of monoculturalism.Domination of the majority culture, the legacy from incorrect perceptionand management of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in the past gives impact tovarious aspects of life in the present Indonesian society. The lack ofcomprehensive understanding for multiculturalism even causes moraldecadence of the young generation. Such merits as togetherness, appreciation and respect to others, and mutual cooperation arevanishing. The arrogance due to domination of majority culture causeslack of understanding in interactions with other cultures or other people.This condition turns to become a challenge for education milieu to givemore orientation to multicultural understanding. Schools, through theteaching-learning process, need to emphasize that diversity is a potentialwealth and worth understanding, and should not be considered anegative aspect. Multicultural education is expected to be the solution forthe problems of national moral degradation.Key words: diversity, multiculturalism, majority culture

Abstract

The change and growth of society strive for the adjustment of Guidance and Counseling professionals toward the appropriate demands, expectations and needs of society. The improvement efforts of this profession have been done to pursue public trust. This close relationship with services efforts profession seemingly has its unique characteristics. Given help services constitute an essential professional obligatory for Guidance and Counseling professionals. In giving services, the profession ought to consider its counselee satisfaction as its customer. The customers encompass as internal customers (college students or teachers of Guidance and Counseling) and external customers (schools’ students, students’ parents and wide range of society). This dichotomy because of the customers would determine in enhancing profession toward the better directions. Customers’ satisfactory service concepts constitute a part of profession improvement besides of improvement in counseling profession standardization, ethic and its convinced direction. This concept is expected could complete counselors’ performance in giving services, moreover they will be able to be superiority mark compared with other professions. The concept of customers’ satisfaction needs to be started from educational institution. In implementing this management concept, educational institution needs to notice some points needed by internal and external customers dealt with giving Guidance and Counseling services. Institutions are expected to be able to know and understand customers’ needs. In addition, profession organization roles are important in contribution toward defending and improving professional members’ satisfaction including in it.Keywords : profession, public trust, customer satisfaction

Abstract

Regarding the phenomenon of teacher’s professionalism in Yogyakarta that is considered to be low, this study aims to explore the perceptions of teacher related to that matter. This research uses quantitative and qualitative approach with descriptive research type. Data were collected through open-questionnaires and interviews. The subject in this study consists of 74 teachers in Yogyakarta that includes public elementary school teachers, junior high school teachers and high school teachers. It is found that, based on teacher perceptions: (1) Professionalism includes expertise, social ability, self-integrity and productive behavior. (2) Teacher understands the term professional teacher better than teacher professionalism.

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior in female adolescents. It applied a quantitative method with ex-post facto design. The sample was 97 female adolescents in Yogyakarta and was determined using a convenience sampling technique. They completed two questionnaires of conformity and consumptive behavior. The instrument validation technique used content validity, and the validity of the instruments was measured by psychology measurement experts. The instruments' reliability was analyzed using Cronbach Alpha with coefficients of 0,914 (consumptive behavior) and 0,790 (conformity). Data analysis techniques used Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. The result of the research shows that there is a significant positive relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior in female adolescents. In other words, conformity can be a strong predictor of consumptive behavior in female adolescents.
