Abstract

White shrimp is a brackish water commodity which is a solution to approve tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) which improves quality. One of the challenges in the cultivation of white shrimp is the attack of vibriosis, caused by the vibrio genus species V. parahaemolyticus. Rhizophora apiculata mangrove leaf extract with different dosages in white shrimp feed to increase vibriosis. Shrimp were given mangrove leaf extract for 40 days and were challenged for 7 days in a 40cm x 30cm x 28cm container, 20 heads/20 liter volume container. The study was conducted in 5 training, control + (Feed without extract + Infection), control- (feed without extract), P3 (0,5% + Infection), P4 (1% extract + Infection), P5 (2% extract + Infection ), the injected bacterial dose is 0.1 ml/heads density of 106 cfu/ml. The results showed that administration of mangrove leaf extract at a dose of 2% was able to maintain SR of 76,67%, increasing shrimp THC by 7,55í­”106 cells/ml and DHC (hyaline cells 84,3% and granular 15,3%) which plan in the shrimp immune system. The number of bacteria and the amount of vibrio in the intestine is, 64,7í­”108 cfu/ml and 16í­”108 cfu/ml. Based on the results of the study, the use of mangrove leaf extract can be used in the cultivation of white shrimp as an immunostimulant because it can increase survival, THC, DHC and reduce bacteria in the intestines of white shrimp. Abstract

Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the leading fisheries commodities that have important economic value and are in great demand by consumers in the market. Pacific white shrimp has several advantages, namely rapid growth, able to adapt to a high range of salinity, and can be cultured with a super intensive system, but in recent years the total shrimp production in Indonesia has decreased. In 2012 the total shrimp production decreased from 1.900 tons to 1.025 tons, the virus is thought to be a pathogen that triggers disease in shrimp and causes high mortality. The type of virus that causes disease in pacific white shrimp cultivation is Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV), Infectious Myonecrosis Virus (IMNV), and White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV). The purpose of this study is to detect viruses that infected and determine the prevalence of viruses that attack pacific white shrimp. The research was conducted in December 2018 to January 2019 at Fish Quarantine Center, Quality Control and Security of Fishery Product Surabaya I. The material used in the study was 37 post larval samples. Samples extracted using Silica Extraction Kit, then detected molecularly using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). This research was observational, then the data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there were 3 positive samples of IMNV and 2 positive samples of WSSV with prevalence values of 8.10% and 5.40%. High and low prevalence values are influenced by the level of virus spread and inappropriate environmental conditions.   Keywords : Pacific white shrimp, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), prevalence, virus.

Abstract

The Bengkak coastal area is one of the coastal areas which is a marine fishery activity with a natural mangrove ecosystem of ± 9 ha bordered by reed mangrove and opposite to TN West Bali mangrove. Environmental pressure with the presence of human activities such as the extraction of mangrove wood causes the growth and development of mangroves not optimal and affects the potential of mangrove ecosystems so research needs to be done to determine the diversity of mangrove ecosystems on the coast of Bengkak Village, Banyuwangi District. Observations in the whole mangrove ecosystem have low species diversity criteria, namely H 'ranging from 0.20 - 0.67 and dominated by A. marina species from the families Avicenniaceae and R. mucronata from the family Rhizophoraceae. While the density of species in all observation stations found that mangrove stands ranged from 967 - 82,000 Ind / Ha. The density of A. marina mangrove vegetation was identified as the highest in the seedling phase of 7,500 Ind / Ha, the sapling phase was 74,000 Ind / Ha and the tree phase was 567 Ind / Ha. The lowest type of R. mucronata was identified in the seedling phase of 5,000 Ind / Ha, sapling phase of 8,000 Ind / Ha and tree phase of 400 Ind / Ha. Environmental factors in the form of nutrients such as leaf litter and the quality of the aquatic environment also influence the growth and development of mangrove ecosystems. environmental conditions in the mangrove zone have the texture of sandy soil and sandy mud, temperatures range from 23 - 33 °C, pH ranges from 7 and salinity ranges from 23 - 36 "°. These environmental conditions support the growth and development of the species of mangrove Avicennia sp. and Rhizopora sp. so that it is dominant and spreads on the coast of Bengkak Village.

Abstract

Frozen fishery products are a type of commodity with varying levels of development, both in whole and in the form of pieces. Fishery products are foodstuffs that are very easily contaminated with pathogenic microbes that can cause food poisoning and cause disease outbreaks in consumers. This study aims to find out the different types of pathogenic bacteria that contaminate fishery frozen products. The fishery frozen products studied came from tuna, mackerel, mollusks and crustaceans. Examination of Escherichia coli bacteria using the METHOD ISO 16649-3:2015 and Salmonella sp bacteria. It uses iso 6579:2002. The results of tests that have been done can be known that frozen fishery products there are positively contaminated and negative contaminated with Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp.

Abstract

A Study was conducted to determine the bioaccumulation of heavy metal mercury (Hg) by the tissue of Perna viridis (green mussel), water, and sediment collected from culture of green mussel in Cirebon water, West Java on rainy season February 2018. Sediments, green shells of P. viridis, and water were taken from the culture of green mussel of Cirebon waters. Samples were taken during the rainy season in February at harvest age ie 6 months of maintenance. Seawater, sediment, and green shell samples were taken 3 replications. Testing of mercury (Hg) heavy metals follows SNI 01-2354.6-2006 measured in the laboratory of Research and Development Guidance of Quality of Fishery Products (BPPMHP) Cirebon, West Java. Based on the results of the research, it is known that the content of heavy metals mercury (Hg) in sediments of 0.003 ± 0.006 ppm, green mussel P. viridis 0.027 ± 0.038 ppm, water 0.017 ± 0.029 ppm. Abstract

Shrimp farming with intensive system was causing many problems. The presence of disease problems in shrimp caused by bacteria, viruses, or co-infection was a problem that must be solved. The use of probiotics and biofloc was one way to overcome the existing diseases. In addition, the combination was expected to improve the performance of the shrimp immune system. This study aimed to evaluate the using of biofloc combined with probiotics against vannamei (Litopenaeus vannamei) immune system in the challenge test with V. parahaemolyticus. This research was conducted for 5 months. The treatments were the addition of commercial probiotics in the culture medium with biofloc system on the feed in the form of negative control (without probiotics + without biofloc) (1), positive control (biofloc culture medium and without probiotic adduction) (2), probiotics I + bioflok (3 ), probiotics II + biofloc (4), and probiotics III + bioflok (5). The results obtained for the performance performance of the shrimp immune system that the best in treatment 4 (probiotic II + biofloc) with SR yield of 76.67%, THC of 9.7 x 106 ml-1, and total bacterial count of 1.59 x 107.   Keywords: Vannamei, Probiotics, Biofloc, Immune System.

Abstract

The Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed widely cultivated originates from Maumere and Tembalang. Kappaphycus alvarezii has a high economic value because of the high carrageenan content used in food products, cosmetics, and medicines. This research was evaluated the performance of seaweed (Maumere and Tembalang) cultivated using longline method near to the shore. Research was conducted by cultivating seaweed using lines extending 50 m long, of each 2 ropes for Maumere seaweed and the other 2 ropes for Tembalang, and then the seaweeds were cultivated for 45 days. Daily control and sampling were conducted to determine the performance of seaweed every 15 days as well as water sampling was taken to determine the water quality of the cultivation location. The results showed that Maumere seaweed performance was higher than Tembalang seaweed and that the water quality was suitable for seaweed cultivation.   Keywords: Performance, Kappaphycus alvarezii, Tembalang, Maumere

Abstract

Detriment caused by ectoparasitic infestation was not as big detriment caused by infestation of other organisms such as viruses and bacteria, but it could be a predisposing factor for the infection of more dangerous pathogenic in fish. The aims of this study was to inventory ectoparasites that infecting freshwater fish cultivated in several districts in the Banyuwangi, in which the results were expected to be used as a reference in an effort to prevent the spread of disease in fish culture. The sample of research consisted of tilapia fish, carp and catfish which were obtained from six sub districts in Banyuwangi, those were Kota, Kabat, Licin, Kalipuro, Giri, and Glagah. The ectoparasite examination method was performed naturally by scraping the surface of the body, fins and gills of the fish, then observed under a microscope with magnification ranging from 40 to 400x. The results of further observations were documented and identified by key identification. Ectoparasites which were found infesting freshwater fish in the city of Banyuwangi consisted of 4 genuses: namely Argulus, Lernaea, Chonopeltis and Trichodina. Further research is needed to determine the prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites in order to prevent the spread of ectoparasites in other regions.   Keywords: Inventarisation, ectoparasites, freshwater fish, Banyuwangi

Abstract

This study aimed to determine total haemocytes and survival rate of pacific white shrimp cultured at 10 ppt in various stocking density. This study consisted of three treatments with three replicates. The shrimp was cultured at salinity of 10 ppt with different stocking densities: 150 shrimps/m2 (A), 200 shrimps/m2 (B), and 250 shrimps/m2 (C). The result showed that different stocking density affected significantly on the growth performance but gave no effect on the survival and the total of shrimp haemocytes. This study was conducted for five weeks. The best growth performance was seen in the treatment with stocking density of 150 shrimps/m2.   Keywords: Pacific White Shrimp, Salinity, Stocking density, Total Haemocytes, Survival rate.

Abstract

Vaname is one type of shrimp that is often cultivated in Indonesia. The shrimp farming system model consists of an extensive system (traditional) and an intensive system. This study aims to compare the abundance of plankton, water conditions, growth performance of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in intensive and extensive aquaculture systems in the waters of Banyuwangi Regency. Parameters measured include physical and chemical parameters, namely temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, ammonia, and alkalinity, type and abundance of plankton. The research method used is descriptive method. The method of analysis is the abundance of plankton, and analysis of productivity, SR, FCR and growth of vannamei shrimp. The results showed that plankton in intensive pond waters were identified as many as 4 classes, namely phytoplankton class Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta and Chrysophyta, while zooplankton class Protozoa. In traditional ponds, it is not much different, only the Crpytophyta class as an additional identification result. The abundance of plankton in intensive ponds reaches 27,595 individuals per liter, while for extensive ponds the abundance of plankton reaches 37,641 individuals per liter. While the survival rate of shrimp in intensive ponds is around 86%, while in extensive ponds is 67%. The FCR value for extensive ponds is 1.02, while the FCR value for intensive ponds is 1.17. The final average weight of shrimp in intensive ponds was 11.76 g/head and 8.33 g/head in extensive ponds. Keyword : Vaname Shrimp, Intensive Cultivation, Extensive
