Abstract

This study aimed to determine total haemocytes and survival rate of pacific white shrimp cultured at 10 ppt in various stocking density. This study consisted of three treatments with three replicates. The shrimp was cultured at salinity of 10 ppt with different stocking densities: 150 shrimps/m2 (A), 200 shrimps/m2 (B), and 250 shrimps/m2 (C). The result showed that different stocking density affected significantly on the growth performance but gave no effect on the survival and the total of shrimp haemocytes. This study was conducted for five weeks. The best growth performance was seen in the treatment with stocking density of 150 shrimps/m2. Keywords: Pacific White Shrimp, Salinity, Stocking density, Total Haemocytes, Survival rate.

Abstract

This study evaluated the effects on viral immune responses and bacterial co-infection, of different feeding frequencies of a synbiotic supplemented diet given to Pacific white shrimp (L. vannamei). A synbiotic-supplemented diet was formulated from probiotic Vibrio alginolitycus SKT-bR and prebiotics from sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) oligosaccharide. Pacific white shrimp were fed the synbiotic diet at different frequencies, i.e. daily (P1), twice a week (P2), and once a week (P3) for a 30 day pre-challenge test. After the 30 day feeding period, the shrimps were challenged by intramuscular injection of Infectious Myonecrosis Virus (IMNV) and Vibrio harveyi. The results showed that shrimp treated with a synbiotic-supplemented diet showed  significantly higher growth performance than control groups (P<0.05). Shrimp treated under regime P1 showed the highest values for phenoloxidase (PO) and respiratory burst (RB) parameters compared to shrimp given the other treatments. Following the challenge test, higher survival rate were seen in the P1 treatment group, in comparison to the positive control, and the P1 treatment group showed the highest values in total haemocyte count (THC), PO, and RB.

Abstract

Abstract

Various problems are found in aquaculture activities while decreasing production due to fish disease attacks and slow growth. Various alternatives can be applied by cultivators, one of which is the use of prebiotics. Coconut pulp contains galactomannan which serves as prebiotic and belongs to agricultural waste usually used as animal feed. This study aimed to determine the level of growth and survival rate of saline tilapia (O. Niloticus) after given coconut pulp extract. A completely randomized design (CRD) was emplyed. This study consisted of three treatments with three replications. Treatment A (maintenance of saline tilapia without adding coconut pulp extract), Treatment B (rearing saline tilapia with the addition of 1% / kg of feed with coconut pulp extract), and Treatment C (rearing saline tilapia with the addition of 2% / kg of feed with coconut pulp extract). The parameters observed were growth, survival and water quality. The results of growth and survival parameters on this study were not significantly different among each treatment. Daily growth rate (DGR) was obtained in treatment C, namely LPH 1.28%. The highest survival rate was obtained in treatment B, namely 80%.Keywords: nile tilapia, coconut pulp ekstract, galactomannan

Abstract

Abstract

The provision of quality feed is the most important factor determining the success of vannamei shrimp farming. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth performance, survival rate and water quality of pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei after dietary administration of combination of calcium, magnesium dan vitamin D3.  Shrimp were fed a control diet (without combination of calcium, magnesium dan vitamin D3 supplement) and four levels of combination of calcium, magnesium dan vitamin D3 supplementation i.e 0; 0.25; 0.50; 0.75; 1.00 mL Hyperol Kg-1 of feed. Larvae were reared in tank with a dimension of 40x25x30cm containing 4 L of disinfected seawater at a stocking density of 100 larvae m-2. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that dietary supplementation of combination of at the concentration up to 10 mL Kg-1 could significantly improve growth and survival rate of Pacific white shrimp

Abstract

Prebiotics are functional food fibers that have the potential to provide nutrients for gut microbes. The source of origin of prebiotics is one component of a material that can be claimed to be a prebiotic, and it affects the oligosaccharide content in it. This study will use synbiotics on tiger prawns with prebiotics from different sources. Synbiotics are a balanced combination of probiotics and prebiotics. The probiotic used was Lactobacillus sp bacteria, the prebiotic used was derived from coconut and sweet potato pulp, and the synbiotic used was dose 1 which consisted of 1%/kg probiotic feed and 2%/kg prebiotic feed. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design. This study consisted of three treatments with three replications. Treatment A (maintenance of tiger shrimp without the addition of synbiotic/control), Treatment B (maintenance of tiger shrimp with the addition of synbiotic with prebiotic source from coconut pulp powder), and Treatment C (maintenance of tiger shrimp with the addition of synbiotic with prebiotic source from sweet potato powder). Parameters observed were daily growth rate (DGR), feed convertion ratio (FCR), Total Haemocytes Count (THC), survival rate (SR) and water quality. The result from this study showed that B treatment give the highest growth and health parameters.
