Published biannually (March and September), the journal serves as a platform for researchers in the field of Early Childhood Education to disseminate their research findings, encompassing both library-based and field-based studies. The focus and scope of JCE include several themes/topics related to: (a) stimulation of early childhood development, covering dimensions of moral and religious values, cognitive and language development, physical-motor skills, arts, and socio-emotional development; (b) early childhood curriculum development; (c) technological innovation and holistic-integrative learning strategies in early childhood education; (d) assessment and evaluation of early childhood education and development; and (e) psychological well-being and mental health within the context of early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of STEAM based learning on critical thinking skills (HOTS) in children aged 5-6 years at kindergarten District Ngajum Malang Regency. This research is categorized as quantitative research which is using Quasi Experimental research design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research was conducted in group B at RA Diponegoro and TK Bhayangkari. The research data are collected using observation and documentation technique. Data were analyzed using statistical analysis by Anova with SPSS 21.0 for Windows. This research results show that: (1)  is 361,182 with significant value 0.000 < 0.05, so the hypothesis of STEAM based learning on critical thinking skills (HOTS) in children can be accepted. According this research result, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of STEAM based learning that effect of to critical thinking skills (HOTS) in children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to: 1) describe how collage of natural materials can improve the naturalist intelligence of group A children at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 54 Ngawi. 2) knowing the problems in the naturalist intelligence of group A children at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 54 Ngawi. The ressearch used is a type of classroom action research (PTK). The subjects of this study were children of group A TK Kemala Bhayangkari 54 Ngawi, with a total of 16 students. Data collection methods used in this study are observation and documentation. This research was conducted using 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 stages, namely: planning, action, observation and reflection. The research was conducted by using collage activities using natural media in the form of leaves, seeds, nuts, and sand to improve children's naturalist intelligence. Furthermore, in the pre-action the percentage increase in children's naturalist intelligence 25% was in the criteria of starting to develop (MB), in the first cycle it increased to 56% in the criteria of developing as expected (BSH) and in the second cycle it increased again to 75% in the very developing criteria. good (BSB). Based on the results of the study, the authors conclude that the collage of natural materials can increase naturalist intelligence in group A children at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 54 Ngawi.

Abstract

s the Covid-19 pandemic escalated in early 2020, Indonesia suspended all activities in school. Approximately 45 million students in Indonesia were unable to attend schools, including early childhood students. As a result, the Indonesian government encourages learning activities to be carried out online or remotely. This study aims to develop a framework that can be used in online learning for early childhood in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology used is a literature study on online learning in early childhood, which includes literature review and empirical research. Online learning in Indonesia is faced with various challenges, such as the disparity in the quality of education in Java and outside Java, uneven internet access, and lack of ICT skills raise concerns over the quality of online learning being implemented across the nation. From the perspective of early childhood education, online learning is relatively new. There are only a few research studies that identify effective practices for online learning for early childhood. It can also be challenging for teachers who new to online learning to choose what strategies work best or where to start. Moreover, there is a heated debate about whether online learning is appropriate for early childhood. Despite all these limitations and debates, this study proposes a framework in online learning which focuses more on the pedagogical aspects rather than the technological aspects.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the description of the performance of the teaching of a teacher's birth control. Education in the Institute introduced and instilled the values of the total understanding of the worshippers to the students. So that they have value, character, and knowledge that is beneficial to religion, nation and country.  The collection method data that is used is a library is a method of data collection sourced from the literature, the result of the educators ' observation of planting Jan characters through habituation such as daily prayer activities, Hadist, dzitching, memorization Surah the short, Shalawat Nariyah and the introduction of prayers.

Abstract

21st century skills called 4Cs, in Indonesian can be remembered by the abbreviation 4K, namely creativity, critical, communication, cooperation. This is in line with Bloom's theory that creativity is the highest ability in the aspect of cognitive development. Therefore, it is important to give creativity to Early Childhood Education. The research method uses descriptive quantitative. Grand design with pretest and post test with 25 children as respondents. The results showed that there was a significant difference to 4K in children before receiving treatment and after receiving the STEAM method application. This study aims to test the effectiveness of STEAM in increasing 4K for children in learning PANCASILA during the pandemic. STEAM in its application cannot be separated from loosepart which can increase children's creativity. High creativity benchmarks are characterized by increased thinking skills, flexible thinking skills, original thinking skills and detailed thinking skills. The application of the STEAM method in the implementation of learning can improve children's abilities marked by being able to solve problems and being able to make relationships with the surrounding environment, especially knowledge in PANCASILA.

Abstract

This study is fostered by the low independence of Amalya Kindergarten's group B children in learning activities. Most of the children were not able to do the assigned tasks independently at school, not able to put items/ objects to their original places independently, feared to appear alone in front of the class, and tended to ask teachers’ helps when doing various activities at school. Therefore, it was necessary to use an appropriate and fun method for children, namely by using visual media storytelling methods to increase their independence. The objective of the study was to find out the independence of the children of Amalya Kindergarten Group B after using the visual media storytelling method. A pre-experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design was carried out in this study. The data were collected by using observation, documentation and interview. The subjects of this study were 10 children. The data obtained in the field were analyzed by using the Wilcoxon’s match pairs test data analysis technique, with the formula Tobtained<Ttable. If Tobtained<Ttable, then this study has a significant influence between the 2 variables. From the results, it was found that the total score of the independent pretest of group B children was 59 with an average score 5.9 each subject and the results of the total posttest score was 120 with an average score 12 each subject. The results of the Wilcoxon’s match pairs test show that Tobtained = 0 is smaller than Ttable with a significant level of 5% = 8, so Tobtained<Ttable (0<8). Thus, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This means that the research hypothesis stating that there is an influence of using visual media storytelling methods on the independence of Amalya Kindergarten's group B children, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, is accepted.

Abstract

In order to face the global era, the ability to speak foreign languages, in this case English, is very important. So that the introduction of English should be pursued from an early age. However, the lack of knowledge of teachers and parents regarding strategies to introduce English to children has an impact on the lack of English language skills of children, therefore it is necessary to seek effective ways so that children's English language skills develop optimally during their best development period. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the strategy. Read Aload in introducing English to children. The research approach is a quantitative experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design through data collection techniques, observation and documentation, and analysis of hypothesis testing using the t test. The t test result in the control group was -17.245 while in the experimental group -5.844. There is a significant difference between language learning using the Read Aload strategy and others, proving that this strategy is effective for use in the introduction of English to children.

Abstract

Parenting is fundamental in shaping character. Exemplary attitude of parents is needed for children's development because children do modeling and imitation of the environment. The moral degradation of children, which has recently been found to reflect the poor quality of upbringing from the family. Furthermore, wrong parenting can have an impact on the cause of children's self-concept to be negative, and tend not to be enthusiastic in achieving life goals. This incident can also occur as a result of the authoritarian parenting adopted by the parents. Family is the first environment that influences various aspects of child development, including social development. The conditions and procedures for family life are a conducive environment for children's social life. The purpose of this study was to determine how the effect of authoritarian parenting on children's social abilities. The research method used was literature study by reviewing and analyzing the results of previous research. The results showed that authoritarian parenting has a negative impact on children's social abilities, children with authoritarian parenting tend to close themselves, are not confident and ashamed to face and interact with the social environment

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of providing song stimulation in the development of early childhood arts, while in reality the provision of song stimulation by teachers in schools still limited due to the limited production of children's thematic songs. So that it takes the teacher's ability to create simple songs according to the thematic needs of learning. This study aims to provide the elements of children's songs, namely melody, harmony, rhythm, lyrics, and tempo. Type of research used is literature study. Data were collected by reviewing and reviewing several relevant reading sources, such as scientific journals and related reference books. Furthermore, the elements that must be considered in early childhood songs are analyzed. From the research, the results show that the lyrical elements of children's songs must be positive and simple, the range and jump of the melody is right, the use of basic harmony starts and ends with level I chords, the use of a 1/4 or 1/8 rhythm, and the tempo according to the impression of the song to be shown. Thus the teacher can continue to provide song stimulation in the development of early childhood arts.

Abstract

Permainan congklak merupakan permainan tradisional yang sampai saat ini masih dikenal di masyarakat, namun seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, permainan congklak mulai ditinggalkan karena sudah ada yang lebih canggih sehingga perlahan mulai dilupakan oleh masyarakat terutama anak-anak. Meski permainan congklak digunakan untuk kesenangan semata, ternyata jika diteliti lebih dalam permainan  congklak memiliki manfaat terkhusus dalam mengambangkan aspek perkembangan kognitif bagi anak usia dini. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk memaparkan bagaimana permainan congklak dapat menstimulasi dari segi aspek perkembangan kognitif anak usia dini, sehingga pemanfaatan permainan congklak dapat lebih dikembangkan  dalam penggunaannya, baik itu dalam kehidupan sehari-hari maupun dalam pembelajaran. Peneliti memilih pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Adapun sasaran penelitian adalah Guru TK sebagai narasumber dengan alat pengumpulan data berupa lembar wawancara dan lembar ceklis. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa permainan congklak dapat mengembagkan perkembangan kognitif seperti:  keterampilan membilang, keterampilan menghitung dan menjumlah, mengasah Analisa, mengatur strategi, dsb. Dengan adanya artikel ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan untuk mengembangkan permainan congklak baik di masyarakat maupun sebagai media pembelajaran.
