Abstract

High-profile accounting scandals have renewed global attention to the mechanisms that encourage professionals to report wrongdoing, particularly in roles entrusted with safeguarding the public interest. This study investigates how intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientations influence external whistleblowing intention among professional accountants and examines the mediating role of public service motivation (PSM). Drawing on Self-Determination Theory (SDT), the study proposes that religious orientation affects ethical behavior not directly, but through its impact on autonomous, value-driven motivation. Using a cross-sectional survey of 359 accountants in Indonesia, the study tested a structural model linking religious orientations, PSM, and whistleblowing intention. The results indicate that intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientations do not directly affect whistleblowing intention. Instead, intrinsic orientation strengthens PSM, extrinsic orientation weakens it, and higher PSM increases external whistleblowing intention, mediating both relationships. The study contributes theoretically by integrating SDT with whistleblowing research and demonstrating the central role of autonomous motivation in shaping ethical reporting behavior. The findings highlight the importance of public-service-oriented values in strengthening moral courage and societal commitment.

Abstract

Customer loyalty is essential for the sustainability of culinary enterprises, particularly traditional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that rely significantly on repeat purchases. The purpose of this study is to investigate how customer loyalty is impacted by the quality of products and services, while also assessing the pivotal role of customer satisfaction in enhancing loyalty. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, the study employed a survey design. The target population consisted of patrons of Ayam Goreng Pak Cipto Banyuanyar, with a total of 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling based on their experience of at least three purchases. Data were gathered through Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis was performed on structured surveys technique to assess both measurement and models of structure. The results indicate that product quality and customer satisfaction have a positive effect on customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction identified as the most influential variable. Conversely, In this case, loyalty is not directly impacted by service quality specific context. These findings suggest that traditional culinary enterprises should focus on sustaining consistent product quality and enhancing the overall customer experience to bolster loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) identify the thematic structure of Indonesian-language user reviews on digital wallet services, (2) compare the clustering quality produced by alternative unsupervised methods, and (3) derive actionable operational insights for service management and financial performance. A quantitative text-mining design is employed, using an unsupervised learning framework on Indonesian-language Google Play Store reviews collected over the 2021–2025 period, comprising 553.500 reviews for DANA and 265.632 reviews for GoPay. The corpus is obtained via staged web scraping, cleaned and normalized, then represented with TF–IDF uni- and bigram vectors. Two clustering algorithms, K-Means and K-Medoids with cosine distance, are applied separately to the DANA, GoPay, and combined corpora. Cluster quality is evaluated using internal validity indices, including the Silhouette while thematic interpretation relies on dominant term inspection and supporting visualizations. The findings show that DANA’s main themes revolve around user experience, ease and reliability of transactions, OTP-based security and access barriers, and customer support, whereas GoPay reviews emphasize transactional operations, balance accessibility, and promotions or perceived service levels. The evaluation results indicate that DANA exhibits more heterogeneous thematic segments than GoPay, implying the need for more differentiated targeting and service strategies, while GoPay can rely on a relatively more homogeneous user base.

Abstract

This research is driven by the increasing focus on corporate sustainability practices, especially within the mining sector, which significantly impacts firm value The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of environmental performance, environmental information disclosure, and environmental costs on firm value. The study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the annual and sustainability report of mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2019-2023 period. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling method with a total of 74 observation. The result show that environmental performance has on significant effect on firm value, while environmental information disclosure has a significant positive effect and environmental costs have a significant negative effect on firm value. These findings indicate that transparent environmental disclosure can enhance investor confidence, where as environmental costs are still perceived as a financial burden. This study contributes theoretically by strengthening signaling theory and provides practical implications for companies to balance sustainability strategies with cost sufficiency.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media users in Indonesia has made influencer marketing a dominant digital strategy, yet the psychological mechanisms through which influencer attributes affect consumer purchase decisions remain underexplored. This study investigates how influencer physical attractiveness, trustworthiness, and expertise influence purchase intention, with consumer well-being as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling of 161 Indonesian social media users aged 17 and above who actively follow influencers on visual platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Data were collected via online questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS 3.0 with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results show that trustworthiness and expertise significantly affect purchase intention, while physical attractiveness does not have a direct significant effect. Consumer well-being significantly influences purchase intention and mediates the effects of physical attractiveness and trustworthiness, but not expertise. These findings suggest that expertise operates through cognitive pathways, whereas physical attractiveness and trustworthiness work through emotional pathways. The study highlights how both cognitive and emotional mechanisms shape consumer behavior. Practically, brands should focus on influencer credibility and expertise, as well as create content that supports consumer emotional well-being to boost purchase intention.

Abstract

This study examines digital anxiety in the era of technology and social media, which causes consumer confusion in purchasing decisions, especially among Generation Z (born 1997-2012) in Indonesia. This generation is susceptible to Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), social media addiction (consisting of weak behavioral control and dysfunctional behavior), and social anxiety, which can trigger impulsive buying and post-purchase regret. The main objective is to analyze the influence of FOMO, social media addiction, and social anxiety on impulsive buying and the influence of impulsive buying on post-purchase regret. The method uses a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS) version 3.0, involving a minimum of 209 Generation Z respondents who are active on social media and have shopped online through purposive sampling in Indonesia. The results show that FOMO, weak behavioral control, and dysfunctional behavior have a significant positive effect on impulsive buying, while social anxiety is not significant. Impulsive buying also has a significant positive effect on post-purchase regret. The implications of the research include understanding the negative impacts of social media on consumer well-being, as well as recommendations for digital platforms and governments to create regulations and awareness campaigns to prevent regret in Generation Z.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) services is an important instrument in promoting transparency and accountability of local governments in Indonesia. PPID faces significant challenges in ensuring transparency of public information, particularly in terms of incomplete or outdated data on their websites, as well as weak audit and evaluation processes. There is a lack of comprehensive studies on the success of digitalizing real-time information updates on PPID websites and its impact on the availability of public data to measure accountability.  This research aims to examine the influence of PPID’s digital transformation and the transparency of the publication of Local Government Financial Statements (LKPD) on the likelihood of obtaining an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) of local governments in Java. Logistic regression analysis was used to test the relationship of each variable with the audit opinion. This research conducts cross-sectional design. The results show that digital transformation does not have a significant influence on the audit opinion, but there is a positive and significant relationship between digital transformation and publication transparency. It inferred that having information on PPID website alone is not enough to improve the quality of financial statements (LKPD) to receive an Unqualified Opinion. However, based on the mediation analysis, digital transformation increases transparency but does not serve as a bridge to the influence on the audit opinion. These findings confirm digitalization and transparency as a procedural rather than substantive reinforcing agency theory on persistent information asymmetry even when the information is avaliable. Local governments, Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), and Information Commission should prioritize PPID quality and LKPD consistency over mere platform adoption to achieve accountability gains.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationships between resources, local knowledge, and SME’s performance by integrating the Resource-Based View and Knowledge-Based View perspectives. A quantitative cross-sectional approach was employed using primary data collected through a structured questionnaire. The study was conducted among batik MSMEs in Pekalongan, Central Java, Indonesia. A purposive sampling technique was applied with specific criteria. A total of 100 MSMEs were selected as the research sample. Data analysis was carried out using (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS. The results show that resources do not have a significant direct effect on MSME performance, indicating that resource availability alone is insufficient to improve business outcomes. However, resources have a significant positive effect on local knowledge, and local knowledge significantly influences MSME performance. Furthermore, the mediation analysis confirms that local knowledge fully mediates the relationship between resources and MSME performance.
