Journal of Linguistics and Social Sciences
Journal of Linguistics and Social Sciences (JLSS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original research, conceptual papers, and reviews addressing the intersection between language studies and social sciences. The journal aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and scholarly exchange among linguists, educators, sociologists, anthropologists, communication specialists, and other researchers interested in the role of language in society. The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas: Theoretical and Applied Linguistics: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, and language teaching and learning. Language and Society: language policy and planning, language and identity, multilingualism, language and culture, language and gender, and language variation and change. Language and Education: curriculum design, language assessment, teacher professional development, and language pedagogy in multilingual and multicultural contexts. Translation and Interpreting Studies: translation theory and practice, cultural translation, and translation technology. Social Sciences Perspectives: communication studies, cultural studies, social psychology, education, sociology of language, and anthropology of communication. Interdisciplinary Research: studies combining linguistic analysis with social, cultural, or technological dimensions in addressing contemporary issues. JLSS welcomes submissions from researchers, practitioners, and academicians that contribute to the advancement of linguistic and social science scholarship, with both qualitative and quantitative approaches.

<![CDATA[Recent trends indicate a discernible decrease in the perceived significance of education, particularly among the adolescent and student demographic. The observed phenomenon can be attributed to a potential lack of parental emphasis on cultivating educational values in their offspring during early developmental stages, particularly in the contemporary era. The acquisition of knowledge through the guidance of teachers primarily centers on the assimilation of academic content, with limited attention given to examining potential moral decline among educators. The mitigation of this issue necessitates the active involvement of educators. Educators necessitate a medium that possesses the capacity to facilitate the instruction of various subjects, all the while ensuring that it imparts educational worth to the students. One of the forms of media that has gained significant popularity and cultural influence is the medium of film, commonly referred to as movies. The present study aims to explore and analyze the moral value embedded within the animated film titled "Onward." The data collection methods employed by the researcher encompassed both descriptive and qualitative approaches. The present study encompasses a three-step data analysis process: data condensation, data display, and conclusions verification. The researcher ultimately employed investigator triangulation to corroborate and substantiate the findings derived from the comprehensive analysis of the collected data. The research subject under investigation pertains to a cinematic production titled "Onward," which Dan Scanlan and C.S. Anderson co-directed. The researcher has identified various moral values depicted in the movie, including honesty, bravery, self-confidence, unselfishness, respect, love, and kindness. Through the examination and analysis of moral values, it is anticipated that cultivating virtuous qualities will contribute to developing a commendable character in a child. This process entails consistent endeavor, perseverance towards attaining personal goals, and unwavering affection and devotion towards one's familial unit.]]>

<![CDATA[The core objective of this paper is to argue the term of agoraphobia and applying it to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s superb work The Scarlet Letter. This novel is an imaginative piece of literary work which was written in the age of puritanism to exhibit the reality of social, cultural and religious struggles of that age via the performance of characters, phobia is a sort of fear and it is a condition that each character possibly faces it explicitly or implicitly throughout the story of the novel, as it is of many sorts, agoraphobia is one of them which simply carries the meaning of being scared of market place and crowded areas, Hester Prynne is the one of the characters of The Scarlet Letter , who has such a sort fright and is socially banished because of her disgusted deed which was adultery ,the symbol of “A” was hanged on the chest of her daughter, who was the outcome of Hester’s act of adultery, caused her to have a non-stopping psychological pain that separated her in a way that she saw death in every moment of her life. She was dehumanized and deprived from the whole social contacts, events and activities while her partner who was Arthur Dimmesdale had a missing identity. ]]>

<![CDATA[Stress placement in English words is conduct with complicated rules. Hence, assigning stress correctly in English words is still a challenge for learners. This research explored the production of English word stress by 23 students of the sixth semester at Islam State University Raden Intan Bandar Lampung. This research used a qualitative approach, and the data were recorded by giving a task to pronounce 15 words. PRAAT software was utilized to analyze the recordings, including measuring the pitch, intensity, and duration as indicators. The result illustrated that the students word stress pronunciation was avarage. Almost all the students were able to distinguish the placement of stress correctly, with a percentage of 82% on two syllables, 51% on three syllables, and 67% on four syllables. Mother tongue influence, local accent and lack of exposure in utilized word stress also contribute the problem]]>

<![CDATA[The researcher used the Brain-Based Learning Strategy to help students understand the vocabulary contained in descriptive reading texts. Brain-based learning strategies are also used to describe applying a theory about the brain to help children maximize their learning potential. A quasi-experimental pre-and post-test design was used in this research. The population of this research is the seventh-grade students of SMPN 1 Sumberjaya West Lampung. The researchers used a cluster random sampling technique for sample selection. The researcher used instruments (Multiple Choice Questions) in the form of research with pre-tests and post-tests to collect data. This research has normal and homogeneous data results, so the hypothesis test used a parametric, independent sample t-test. Based on the analysis of data calculations in hypothesis testing, a significant effect could be seen in the dependent sample t-test table where the value of Sig. (2tailed) of the same variant, which is 0.01 < 0.05, means that Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted that the Brain-Based Learning Strategy could positively and better influence students’ Vocabulary mastery]]>

<![CDATA[This study addresses the issue of students dealing with verbal expressiveness and speaking difficulty. It looks examines how the Cubing Technique affects the speaking abilities of eleventh-grade students in a senior high school. A total of 69 students from various classes were divided into two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group was taught the Cubing Technique, while the control group was taught by the technique that is usually used by the teacher, the Mind Mapping Technique. Pre- and post-tests used a quantitative research method and a quasi-experimental design to assess five criteria: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The Cubing Technique had a substantial influence (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.001) on students' speaking abilities in the first semester of eleventh grade, according to an independent t-test done in SPSS 16. This study adds to our understanding of effective language teaching approaches, specifically the positive impact of the Cubing Technique in a senior high school in Purbolinggo in the 2023/2024 academic year.]]>

<![CDATA[Linguistic and grammatical correctness, both in their production and when they are categorized under specialized grammar, involve numerous features unique to each language and the technical intricacies of its grammar. One such feature encompasses processes related to the genitive case, encompassing the nuanced details of genitive attribution, possession, indicators of possession, and the presence or absence of these indicators in their respective contexts. This research delves into the Genitive Case in Kurdish and English, elucidating their positions, commonalities, and distinctions. The methodology employed throughout this study is primarily analytical and comparative, wherein initial observations and insights about the phenomenon are presented, followed by a thorough analysis and demonstration of the genitive case in both Kurdish and English grammar.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is entitled: (Lyric and melody, Genres in Goran's Poems) which is a new look at two aspects, namely (genre, external and internal music of Goran's poems). It attempts to present the genre in all its details and characteristics, on the other hand, to determine it according to the characteristics of the lyrical genres of Goran's poems. Because lyrical genres are related to many aspects such as hymns, songs, poems, etc. Therefore, an attempt has been made to explain the aspects that are directly related to lyricism and create mutual influences and reactions. Therefore, "Outer and Inner Music in Goran's Poems" will be part of this research. The research was conducted according to the method (descriptive_analytical), which explains the lyricism of Goran in terms of genres and at the same time interprets the outer and inner melody of the poet's poems. Societies exhibit diverse cultural patterns and interpersonal dynamics. This paper delves into the exploration of stylistics, focusing on its manifestation in literary articles where writers convey emotions and thoughts, influenced by various principles. The study introduces style concepts, terminology, and methodologies, examining their impact on writers, texts, and readers. It analyzes style from the author's perspective, considering language choice, rhetorical devices, and mental state. <![CDATA[ This paper is entitled (Phonological Changes in Hawrami Dialect (A Current Descriptive Study)). It is to identify the phonological changes that occur in the sounds of everyday words and terms of speakers of different classes of this dialect, in the different environments of their appearance in the structure of morphemes and words. It also identifies the characteristics and causes of these changes and analyzes the laws that occur in these sound changes. With the classification of the types of changes and the most important structural changes, such as compatibility (complete and incomplete), incompatibility, fall, sound formation, sound change, displacement, sound separation. Also point out the causes of their occurrence such as (gravey noise, obesity, bilibials, palatal, vocal cords and place of articulation, etc). with their place of articulation at the beginning or middle or end of words and their classification into consonants and vowels.In addition to the introduction, conclusions and sources, the research is divided into two parts: the first part consists of phonology and phonemes, rules of sentence structure, characteristics and causes of phonological changes. The second section discusses phonological changes and their types and identifies structural changes.]]>
