Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance the understanding and skills of students at SMA Muhammadiyah Jayapura in product photography as foundational competencies to support entrepreneurial interest in the digital era. Product photography plays a crucial role in modern marketing because it significantly influences perceived quality, visual appeal, and consumer purchasing decisions. The training was conducted through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The instructional methods included lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice using smartphone-based photography techniques. The results indicate a high level of enthusiasm among participants, demonstrated through active involvement in discussions and strong engagement during practical sessions. Students successfully developed their understanding of lighting, composition, multi-angle product shooting techniques, as well as the use of smartphone camera features and basic editing applications. Based on the evaluation, the program effectively stimulated students’ visual creativity and improved their practical skills in product photography. It is recommended that similar activities be continued through follow-up mentoring and integration into school entrepreneurship programs.

Abstract

Low community participation in tourism development remains a critical issue in many coastal and border areas, including Skow Yambe Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, Papua Province. Despite its strategic location and rich coastal natural resources, the tourism potential of this village has not been optimally utilized to support local livelihoods. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance community capacity and awareness in managing coastal tourism potential through counseling and tourism arrangement workshops. A participatory approach was employed, involving field exploration, observation, focus group discussions (FGDs), interactive lectures, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The results indicate an increased level of community understanding regarding local tourism potential, the emergence of entrepreneurship intentions based on tourism activities, and a growing readiness of community members to actively participate in the development of a coastal tourism village. High levels of enthusiasm and positive responses from participants demonstrate the initial success of the program. This PKM activity provides a social and knowledge-based foundation for the sustainable development of Skow Yambe Village as a coastal tourism destination and contributes to improving community welfare in the Indonesia–Papua New Guinea border area.

Abstract

The Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (LINA) Instructor Training program in Papua was designed to strengthen young women's leadership based on ideological cadre development within the context of the Nasyiatul Aisyiyah organization, which is rooted in Muhammadiyah values. This intervention addresses the challenges of limited ideologically and pedagogically competent instructors and disparities in access to cadre development resources. The approach used was intensive training using participatory action research methods, involving dialogic lectures, focus group discussions, critical reflection, and microteaching. The training focused on Muhammadiyah and NA ideology, the cadre development system, instructional facilitation, and training ethics. The results demonstrated an increased capacity of prospective young female instructors in understanding ideology, the cadre development system, and facilitation skills. The main output was the formation of 24 prospective instructors ready to support cadre regeneration in Papua and the establishment of a strategic follow-up plan, the Nasyiatul Aisyiyah Instructor School (SINISA). This activity demonstrated the practical significance of strengthening the ideological cadre development system in eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Character education and the strengthening of national values remain strategic challenges in Papua, a region characterized by complex social, cultural, and geographical conditions. This community service activity aims to strengthen the organizational capacity of Hizbul Wathan in the Papua region as a platform for character education, leadership development, and civic education grounded in Muhammadiyah values. The program was implemented using a participatory approach through organizational capacity building, value internalization, collective reflection, and consolidation of the scouting movement. The methods employed included reflective lectures, focused group discussions, cross-stakeholder dialogues, and organizational consolidation. Data were collected qualitatively through participatory observation, documentation, and systematic recording of discussion outcomes, and were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The results indicate an increased collective awareness of the importance of trainer cadre development, synergy with Muhammadiyah charitable enterprises, and the development of an inclusive and context-responsive scouting model. This activity confirms that resource limitations are not the primary barrier but rather an opportunity to build a resilient, value-integrated, and sustainable Hizbul Wathan movement in Papua.

Abstract

Skow Yambe Village, located on the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, has significant economic potential, particularly in the micro-enterprise and cross-border trade sectors. However, limited business education and a low understanding of business law hinder the community's economic development. This community service activity aims to improve the community's capacity in business management and legal literacy related to business legality and protection. The method used is a participatory approach through observation, counseling, training, and mentoring. The materials provided include business plan development, simple financial management, marketing strategies, and an understanding of business legality and consumer protection. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants' understanding of business management and awareness of the importance of business legality. The community has begun implementing simple financial records and demonstrated readiness to process business permits. This activity demonstrates that integrating business education and legal understanding is an effective strategy in promoting the empowerment and economic independence of border communities. Sustainability of the program through mentoring and multi-stakeholder collaboration is essential to ensure long-term impact.
