Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the humanist preaching strategy applied by Hannan Attaki in conveying Islamic messages in the digital era and to what extent the effectiveness of the Islamic communication approach used by Hannan Attaki in grounding Islamic values in the midst of the social life of the digital society. The research method used is Qualitative Content Analysis, Data Collection and Sources using Instametrica and documentation. The results of the study show that the humanist da'wah strategy implemented by Hannan Attaki through digital media has proven effective in conveying Islamic values contextually, empathetically, and inclusively, especially to the young urban generation in the digital era. This approach prioritizes reflective and down-to-earth communication through the use of a relaxed language style, storytelling techniques, and visualizations that are interesting and relevant to the audience's daily life. Hannan's lectures not only build a cognitive understanding of Islam, but also touch the emotional and psychosocial side of the audience, thus encouraging spiritual transformation and behavioral change. By combining the principles of da'wah bil hikmah and a communicative psychosocial approach, Hannan Attaki's da'wah becomes a model of contemporary Islamic communication that not only conveys religious messages, but also creates a friendly, adaptive, and empowering religious space.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the categories of Islamic messages conveyed by @quranreview Instagram account during August 2025, using a qualitative content analysis approach according to Philipp Mayring. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, The data period consists of uploaded documentation (feeds, reels, and carousels) throughout August 2025. The analysis was carried out following Mayring's procedure: determining the unit of analysis, forming deductive and inductive categories, coding, and thematic interpretation. The novelty of this study is that data collection covering August 2025 provides the most up-to-date insights into the trends of da'wah messages on @quranreview. In addition, the application of Philipp Mayring's content analysis model provides validity and a more rigorous analytical framework than previous studies that were only descriptive. The results of the study show that three main categories emerged consistently—aqidah (belief), sharia (practice of worship), and akhlak (ethics). Engaging and contextual visual presentation. Content that incorporates elements of lighthearted humor or trending themes—for example, “mindfulness in worship”—showed the highest levels of interaction (likes, comments, and reposts), demonstrating the effectiveness of contextual digital da'wah. Patterns emerged in the messages that connect traditional Islamic values with the daily experiences of the younger generation, creating a bridge between the textuality of the Quran and the dynamics of modern life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the preaching rhetoric used by the Instagram account @gusmiftah in spreading the values of religious moderation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and content analysis, this study examines three video uploads of Gus Miftah's preaching and audience responses. The results show that Gus Miftah effectively applies three elements of Aristotle's rhetoric: ethos (credibility as a cleric), pathos (emotional power through persuasive language), and logos (logical argumentation supported by Quranic verses) to convey messages of religious moderation such as tolerance, unity, and anti-extremism. Despite some criticism, the majority of audience responses are positive, demonstrating the effectiveness of his digital preaching strategy. This study concludes that Aristotle's rhetoric is still relevant in the context of digital preaching and can serve as a model for preachers in spreading moderate Islam on social media.

Abstract

Women's leadership in Islamic boarding schools continues to face challenges due to a patriarchal culture that positions men as central figures. This research aimed to analyze the representation of women's leadership through the character of Alina Suhita in the film Hati Suhita (2023). The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using John Fiske's semiotic analysis, which covered the levels of reality, representation, and ideology. The analysis was strengthened by Stuart Hall's representation theory and Alice Eagly's Role Congruity Theory to understand how women are constructed as leaders in religious spaces. The findings revealed that Alina's leadership was represented in three dimensions: intellectual, emotional, and social. Intellectual leadership was seen when Alina provided historical knowledge to the students, affirming women's intellectual capacity in education. Emotional leadership was reflected in her ability to build interpersonal relationships and gain legitimacy through the support of family and Islamic boarding schools. Social leadership was demonstrated by the collective recognition of her authority by teachers and students. This research highlighted that the film Hati Suhita offered resistance to the patriarchal structure of Islamic boarding schools and opened discussions on the legitimacy of women's leadership.

Abstract

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to climate change are multidimensional issues that impact all aspects of society, including public health and human rights. To understand how a group views the issue of climate action, it is necessary to identify the opinions they express to develop appropriate climate action strategies with direct community involvement. This study aims to capture public discussions, especially from young people, regarding climate action on Twitter. The data used in this study were collected from Twitter social media tweets using an Application Programming Interface (API) provided by Twitter developers. Through scraping techniques or data collection stages, this study used Orange Data Mining software to collect tweet data about climate action from July 14-21, 2022. The results of study revealed that there are four issues discussed by the younger generation regarding climate action on Twitter including: the core issues about climate change and global warming, urgency on climate action, attention to the causes and consequences, and responsibility and solutions to climate change through the climate action movement. Sentiment analysis showed that 74.42% (6,716 tweets) expressed positive sentiment toward climate action, while 25.58% (2,308 tweets) expressed negative sentiment. The implication of this research for framing theory is that the dominant frame in public discourse can influence policy acceptance and collective action. Policymakers and communicators can strategically reinforce constructive frames for young people, such as economic opportunity, equity, and innovation, to broaden youth engagement while reducing resistance to the impacts of climate change. As the largest Muslim country, the results of this study provide an important contribution to the internal dynamics of religious environmental activism among the younger generation in responding to the environmental and climate crisis.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of multimedia da'wah as a means of actualizing the values of the Living Qur'an in a digital society. Along with the rapid development of information and communication technology, Islamic da'wah has undergone a major transformation by utilizing various digital platforms, such as social media, videos, podcasts and internet-based applications. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study and content analysis to identify how multimedia da'wah can convey relevant and applicable Qur'anic messages in the daily life of digital society. Apart from that, this research also analyzes the importance of da'wah ethics in spreading Islamic messages through digital media, in order to ensure that da'wah continues to run in accordance with Islamic principles that respect truth, harmony and social responsibility. The research results show that multimedia da'wah can be an effective means of actualizing the Living Qur'an, by introducing Islamic values that are in accordance with the demands of the times without ignoring the essence of the teachings of the Qur'an. However, the main challenge faced is the need to maintain ethics and quality of content to avoid message distortion, as well as avoiding the spread of inaccurate or misleading information. This research suggests that digital da'wah activists prioritize strong ethical principles and continue to improve the quality of da'wah content to achieve more effective da'wah goals in forming a better society, based on Qur'anic values in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the rhetorical construction of religious moderation in the Log In program on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube channel. Amidst the polarization of digital religion, this research analyzes how Islamic values are framed to appeal to diverse audiences. Using a qualitative design that combines virtual ethnography and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the researcher observed and transcribed 30 episodes of the program. The analysis applies Aristotelian rhetorical theory (ethos, pathos, and logos) to explore how credibility, emotional appeal, and logical argumentation are articulated through language style, humor, and narrative strategies. The findings reveal that Habib Husein integrates these rhetorical elements in a balanced manner, producing religious messages that are rational, engaging, and socially relevant. His rhetoric reflects an adaptive style that aligns with the interactive and monetized nature of YouTube. Beyond descriptive insights, this study contributes theoretically by demonstrating how Aristotelian rhetoric operates within the political economy of digital media, where religious messages function simultaneously as spiritual guidance and commodified content.

Abstract

This study examines mosque-based religious moderation da‘wah grounded in fiqh al-masjid as a model for mitigating socio religious conflict at the grassroots level in Mojokerto Regency, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving mosque administrators (takmir), religious leaders, officials of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), and representatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The findings reveal that religious moderation is operationalized through interconnected dimensions, including humanity (insaniyah), public benefit (maslahah), justice (‘adliyyah), balance (mubādalah), constitutional compliance (dusturiyah), national commitment (mu‘āhadah waṭaniyah), tolerance (tasāmuḥ), anti violence, and respect for local tradition (‘urfiyah). These dimensions are manifested in sermon narratives, participatory mosque governance, inclusive spatial arrangements, humanitarian and economic empowerment programs, and culturally sensitive practices. Analytically, the study demonstrates that moderation da‘wah becomes effective when ethical principles are institutionalized through clear policies, sermon guidelines, and conflict resolution mechanisms rather than remaining at the level of normative discourse. The study contributes theoretically by integrating religious moderation, mosque jurisprudence, and conflict studies into a coherent analytical framework, and practically by offering a model that can be adopted by mosque institutions and policymakers to strengthen social cohesion, prevent radicalism, and promote peaceful coexistence in plural societies.

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally disrupted the landscape of Islamic communication, introducing chatbots as novel sources of religious information that challenge the traditional authority of Ulama. This study aims to analyze the shift in religious authority among Generation Z by examining the reliability of AI-generated fatwas versus traditional Islamic scholarship. Employing a qualitative virtual ethnography method, data were collected through digital observation of AI interactions and critical analysis of a sermon by Habib Abdurrahman Assegaf regarding AI errors in religious interpretation. The results demonstrate significant “algorithmic hallucination” in religious texts. Specifically, AI failed to interpret the theological context of Sahih Bukhari regarding “Al-Madinatu Tanfi Al-Khabats,” providing a literal, erroneous translation that strips away spiritual meaning. While Gen Z utilizes AI for privacy and speed, this finding proves that AI lacks scientific lineage (sanad) and spiritual taste (dzauq). The implications of this study highlight the urgency of digital literacy to prevent the trivialization of sacred texts. In conclusion, while AI functions as an efficient data aggregator, it cannot replace the authoritative role of Ulama, as authentic religious understanding requires human mentorship through talaqqi to ensure validity and contextual accuracy.
