Abstract

Islamic character education is a fundamental aspect of Islamic Religious Education in elementary schools because it serves as the foundation for the formation of students' personalities from an early age. This study aims to describe the process of Islamic character formation in students through a cultural approach at SDN Sarude, Sarjo District, Pasangkayu Regency, which has a multi-ethnic socio-cultural background. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants included the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, class teachers, and students. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that Islamic character formation at SDN Sarude is carried out holistically and sustainably through the integration of local Mandar cultural values, the habituation of religious activities, teacher role models, and support from the social environment. Mandar cultural values such as sipakatau, sipakalebbi, and sipakaingge are integrated into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and have proven effective in instilling Islamic values such as empathy, respect, and social responsibility. The habituation of religious activities such as communal prayer, dhuha prayer, Al-Qur'an recitation, and socio-religious activities strengthen the internalization of religious values and social awareness of students. Teacher role models are a dominant factor that encourages the success of character education, while the religious community environment strengthens the continuity of values between school and social life. This study concludes that Islamic character education rooted in local culture and supported by synergy between schools and the community is effective in forming students who are religious, have noble morals, and are cultured

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of teachers in customer service at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Jamilurrahman and MI Islamic Centre Bin Baz (ICBB) in Bantul Regency, DIY. The extra behavior of the teacher's role is considered crucial to maintain the quality of educational services in the midst of fierce competition, which will ultimately affect customer satisfaction (parents/guardians of students) and the sustainability of the institution. The approach used is quantitative descriptive. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire (1-5) that measured five dimensions of extra-role behaviors (Altruism, Conscientiousness, Sportsmanship, Courtesy, and Civic Virtue). The sample used is the population, namely all teachers of MI Jamilurrahman (N=24) and MI ICBB (N=29) for the 2025/2026 school year. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode). The results of the analysis showed that the extra behavior of teachers' roles in the two madrasas was in the category of High to Very High. The average score (Mean) of the extra behavior of the role of MI Jamilurrahman teacher is 67.77 (Very High Category), while MI ICBB is 65.62 (High Category). Overall, the extra behavior of the role of MI Jamilurrahman teachers is slightly superior (+2.15) to MI ICBB. MI Jamilurrahman's superiority is also seen in each dimension of extra role behavior: Altruism (+0.19), Conscientiousness (+1.15), Sportsmanship (+0.06), Courtesy (+0.15), and Civic Virtue (+0.60). This difference indicates that MI Jamilurrahman teachers have slightly higher potential for initiative, volunteerism, and dedication beyond formal duties, likely supported by a more collaborative and supportive organizational climate.

Abstract

Premarital education is one of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' strategic programs to equip prospective brides and grooms with the knowledge, skills, and mental preparedness to build a family that is sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. However, people with deaf disabilities still face serious obstacles in accessing these services, mainly due to communication barriers and limited inclusive learning facilities. As a result, their understanding of the rights and obligations of husband and wife, reproductive health, and strategies for managing domestic conflicts tends to be less than optimal, thereby increasing the potential vulnerability of the family. This article aims to examine the urgency of inclusive premarital counselling for deaf people with disabilities as an instrument for strengthening family resilience in Indonesia. The research method used a qualitative approach with literature study and policy analysis. The results of the study show that the provision of disability-friendly premarital counselling, for example by providing sign language interpreters, visual-based modules, and empathy-based counselling, is an urgent need. (Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities). As well as the policy on family resilience development in the RPJMN (National Development Planning Agency 2020, Regarding the National Medium-Term Development Plan). Thus, inclusive premarital guidance for deaf persons with disabilities can serve as a preventive and promotional effort in creating strong, adaptive, and sustainable Indonesian families. In addition, premarital education programs have a strategic role in strengthening family resilience, especially for couples with deaf disabilities in Indonesia. Communication barriers often cause problems in domestic life, so inclusive and accessible education methods are needed. This article examines various strategies, such as developing modules with sign language, support from counsellors who understand the needs of the deaf community, and the use of disability-friendly digital media. Through the implementation of these strategies, deaf couples can gain a better understanding of their rights, obligations, and healthy communication patterns in marriage. Ultimately, disability-friendly premarital education can strengthen the values of togetherness and equality, as well as create strong and harmonious families in society.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning tools for grade X students of SMK Negeri Cisarua using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model which is theoretically supported by Transformative Learning Theory, Spiritual Intelligence Development Framework, and Empathy-Based Learning. The development process involves the creation of teaching materials, learner worksheets, learning implementation plans, and assessment instruments designed to enhance a deep understanding of Islam, develop compassion for religious differences, and internalize universal spiritual values through reflective learning and contemplative practices. The results of the expert validation showed an average score of 85.3% content validity and 87.8% design validity (in the very valid category). The practicality test based on teacher and student responses reached 88.7% and 90.2% respectively (very practical category). Effectiveness testing through learning outcomes showed a significant improvement with an average pre-test score of 61.2 and post-test score of 84.1 (Cohen's d = 1.62, large effect size, p < 0.001), which attests to a substantial increase in knowledge of Islamic values and universal spiritual principles. Spiritual Intelligence experienced a significant increase (pre: 2.68, post: 4.12 on a scale of 5, Δ = 1.44, p < 0.001), consistent with the perspective transformation mechanism in Transformative Learning Theory. Empathy for religious minorities showed a significant increase (pre: 2.35, post: 3.97, Δ = 1.62, p < 0.001), reflecting the development of interfaith compassion even in the context of mono-religious schools. Conclusion: the PAI learning tools developed have proven to be valid, practical, and highly effective in simultaneously improving students' knowledge, transforming spiritual perspectives, and developing an empathetic attitude towards religious diversity in the context of Islamic education. The integration of Transformative Learning with the development of Spiritual Intelligence is an innovative contribution to the Islamic educational literature and the development of multicultural competencies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the learning materials of the four major schools of Islamic jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafiʿi, and Hanbali) in comparison with the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) in Indonesia regarding the validity of a fāsiq guardian (wali fāsiq) in marriage. The issue of guardianship in marriage holds a central position within Islamic family law because the presence of a guardian (wali) constitutes one of the legal pillars (arkān) of marriage. The problem arises when the appointed guardian is in a state of fisq—known for committing major sins, persistently engaging in disobedience, or lacking moral integrity. This condition creates a juridical and theological debate among classical jurists concerning whether such a guardian retains legal authority or is disqualified. Using a normative-juridical and comparative approach, this research analyzes primary classical sources of fiqh, modern scholarly contributions, and statutory frameworks. Data were collected through a library study of authoritative fiqh texts, scholarly journals, and the Compilation of Islamic Law. The study finds that the Hanafi school tends to permit the wali fāsiq to exercise guardianship, emphasizing the preservation of marriage validity. Conversely, the Maliki, Shafiʿi, and Hanbali schools generally reject the authority of a fāsiq guardian, grounding their argument on moral integrity (ʿadālah) as a prerequisite for guardianship. The KHI aligns more closely with the Shafiʿi perspective, emphasizing the moral qualifications of the guardian to ensure justice, harmony, and protection of women’s rights in marriage contracts. The findings highlight the significance of integrating classical jurisprudence with the socio-legal context of Indonesia. By aligning statutory regulations with ethical principles derived from the Shafiʿi tradition, the KHI strengthens legal certainty and moral accountability in family law. This research contributes both theoretically and practically to the development of Islamic family law in Indonesia, offering insights for judges, legal practitioners, and Islamic scholars in addressing contemporary marital issues.

Abstract

This research originated from field findings indicating that student outcomes had not reached the mastery level, students experienced difficulty understanding the subject of Akhlak, specifically the theme of avoiding Akhlak Mazmumah or disgraceful morals, and the use of teaching methods that were less appropriate or innovative. Consequently, this study aims to examine the effect of implementing the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions learning method based on active practice during the learning process in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of 10th-grade students in the Akhlak subject during the first semester at SMA Labschool Rawamangun. The method used in this research utilized a quantitative approach of the quasi-experimental type with a non-equivalent control group design using a purposive sampling technique. The research sample consisted of 20 students in the experimental class and 15 students in the control class. The research results using the Mann-Whitney U test indicated a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who received the STAD method treatment integrated with active practice and those without treatment using the direct instruction method commonly used by teachers, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05. Strengthened by the N-Gain test results, where the experimental class score was 0.65 > 0.30, categorized as medium with an interpretation of moderately effective, and the control class score was 0.28 < 0.30 categorized as low with an interpretation of ineffective. Therefore, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, providing treatment using the STAD method integrated with active practice in the experimental class is more effective and has a significant effect in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes compared to the method commonly used by teachers, namely direct instruction in the control class.

Abstract

The family is the smallest social institution that plays a strategic role in shaping the character, morality, and identity of future generations. In Islamic perspective, the concept of sakinah family refers to a household built upon the values of tranquility, affection (mawaddah), and mercy (rahmah), as stated in the Qur’an, Surah Ar-Rum verse 21. However, in the midst of globalization, individualism, and instant culture, Qur’anic values are often marginalized, which makes it essential to strengthen family education based on Qur’anic principles integrated with local wisdom as a cultural identity. Qur’anic values such as monotheism (tauhid), piety (taqwa), ethics (adab), morality (akhlaq), consultation (shura), affection, and compassion provide strong spiritual and moral foundations for a sakinah family, while local wisdom contributes contextual educational mechanisms through traditions such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), respect for parents and elders, the use of local language, traditional arts, and folklore that cultivate responsibility, solidarity, empathy, and pride in cultural identity. The integration of these two elements makes family education not only normative but also practical, relevant, and close to daily life. The study shows that developing a family education model based on Qur’anic values and local wisdom can produce generations who are faithful, morally upright, and culturally resilient in facing the challenges of globalization. Families that implement this model not only serve as the first and foremost place for character education but also function as agents in building a harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous society. Furthermore, the integration of religious and cultural values demonstrates that these two dimensions are not contradictory but complementary, capable of working hand in hand to strengthen moral integrity and social harmony. Thus, the development of a sakinah family education model rooted in both Qur’anic principles and local wisdom can be considered a strategic solution to address the moral and identity crisis, while simultaneously nurturing a society that is religious, culturally grounded, and characterized by noble values.
