Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Student Worksheet (LKPD) as a medium for internalizing the value of raḥmatan li al-'ālamīn in the learning process. This research departs from the need for PAI teaching materials that not only convey cognitive material, but are also able to foster an attitude of tolerance, respect for diversity, and an understanding of inclusive Islamic values. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study design so that the researcher can delve deeply into the students' learning experience, class interaction, and the process of internalizing values through the use of LKPD. The data collection method was carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, open questionnaires, and analysis of learning-related documents. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that multicultural-based LKPD PAI effectively supports the internalization of the value of raḥmatan li al-'ālamīn. This effectiveness can be seen through increased tolerance, the ability to understand differences, the ability to work together across backgrounds, and a more inclusive pattern of class interaction. Teachers also stated that LKPD helps facilitate multicultural discussions and provide a more contextual learning experience. This research is useful for the development of PAI teaching materials that are able to instill the value of religious moderation, as well as become a practical reference for educators in designing multicultural-based learning in various school settings.

Abstract

Sincere intention for Allah is the main foundation in studying in Islamic boarding schools, distinguishing the blessings and benefits of knowledge obtained by students, and determining the value of each deed as emphasized in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW: "Indeed, every deed depends on its intention." This study aims to examine the relationship between the intention and motivation of students to learn in Islamic boarding school-based education, by emphasizing the values of sincerity, intrinsic motivation, and the role of the religious community. The study used a qualitative case study approach at the Baitul Ilmi Islamic boarding school in Jember, with triangulation techniques for data validity. The results of the study indicate that fostering the right intention forms a strong and sustainable learning motivation. Students who study for Allah, driven by sincerity, responsibility, and spiritual awareness, have high intrinsic motivation so that they are more consistent, disciplined, and obtain achievements and a complete meaning of learning both academically and spiritually. In addition, the Islamic boarding school community through the role of kyai, ustadz, and the religious environment strengthens the formation of intention and motivation to learn collectively. In contrast, the intention to learn based on worldly motives tends to produce weak and easily faded motivation. Thus, sincere intention is the primary driving force behind students' motivation to learn in Islamic boarding schools, in line with Islamic educational values that not only pursue academic success but also foster character and closeness to God Almighty.

Abstract

This study examines the management of Islamic higher education financing at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) using an NVivo-based qualitative approach. The data were analyzed through Word Cloud, Tree Map, Hierarchy, and Project Map techniques to identify patterns and structures within the funding system. The findings indicate that UTM’s financing framework is shaped by a combination of government funding and Islamic endowment mechanisms, with instruments such as zakat, waqf, cash waqf, and donations serving as the dominant non-governmental sources. Scholarship schemes emerge as the primary distribution mechanism, covering merit-based aid, financial-need support, and funding for research and internationalization programs. Principles of social justice and maqasid al-shariah play a crucial role in guiding the allocation of resources, particularly for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. The study concludes that UTM’s financing model is holistic and sustainability-oriented, and recommends strengthening the governance of Islamic endowments, diversifying scholarship schemes, and enhancing policy synergies between the government and Islamic philanthropic entities.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping educational management by augmenting decision-making, optimizing administrative processes, and enabling learner-centered ecosystems aligned with Education 4.0 paradigms. Systematic evidence from higher education shows AI integration is approaching an inflection point comparable to the internet’s arrival, with broad institutional implications for strategy, governance, and resource allocation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between artificial intelligence and educational management. A theoretical literature review is conducted and a conceptual framework for additional research is offered in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the study. In the current research, the authors consider the sales of educational management as dependent variable affected by AI. The promise of AI is inseparable from its challenges. Issues of bias, fairness, data privacy, and ethical accountability require robust governance frameworks and human oversight. Sustainable adoption depends on infrastructure modernization, capability-building, and inclusive design practices that ensure equitable access and avoid widening digital divides. AI in educational management is best understood as a dual empowerment process: it strengthens both educational outcomes and institutional performance, provided leaders invest in governance, infrastructure, and talent development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Indonesian language proficiency on the rhetorical abilities of Islamic religious education students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta, considering that language proficiency is the main instrument in effective and persuasive Islamic religious communication. The study used a quantitative correlational approach with a sample of 92 female students from a population of 120 people, selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire that measured indicators of language proficiency (sentence structure, diction, logical coherence, and contextual appropriateness) and indicators of Islamic religious rhetoric (credibility of delivery, strength of argument, intonation management, and clarity of message), then analyzed through validity tests, reliability, descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and simple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that the level of mastery of Indonesian language and the ability of da'wah rhetoric of Islamic studies students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta is relatively high, with an average of 82.6 and 84.3, respectively, and the research instrument is declared very reliable with a Cronbach Alpha of 0.879 for language mastery and 0.891 for da'wah rhetoric. Simple linear regression analysis shows a positive and significant influence of language mastery on da'wah rhetoric ability (B = 0.781; p = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination of 61.2%, which indicates a significant contribution of language mastery to improving da'wah rhetoric, while the rest is influenced by other factors. This finding confirms that mastery of Indonesian language is a major factor in the success of da'wah rhetoric and has practical implications for the development of Islamic religious education curriculum, namely the need to integrate strengthening language competencies with da'wah rhetoric learning so that female students can become communicative, persuasive, and professional da'wah preachers.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the demands of the Society 5.0 era which encourages the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in learning, while its use in Arabic learning in higher education is still sporadic, unstructured, and not fully aligned with student needs, lecturer readiness, and institutional policies and infrastructure. This study aims to identify the needs, practices, and readiness levels of the use of AI-based Arabic learning media, as well as formulate criteria for effective, adaptive, and ethical media design in the context of Arabic Language Education, Arabic Language and Literature, and Islamic Education at Mataram City universities. The approach used is qualitative with an exploratory case study design in the early stages of R&D (need assessment and conceptual design), with informants selected in purposive and maximum variation, including students, lecturers, curriculum/quality assurance managers, IT/LMS staff, and academic unit leaders (around 20–30 informants until data is saturated). Data was collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, classroom observation (offline/online) and LMS, as well as document review (RPS, syllabus, AI policies, and task artifacts), then analyzed thematically. The results show that AI is already being used individually (chatbots, translators, training generators), but it is not yet firmly integrated in RPS, assessments, and formal policies. Key needs include adaptive training for istima', kalam, qira'ah, and kitabah, linguistically accurate automated feedback, integration with LMS, as well as ethical guidance to maintain academic integrity; while barriers include limited AI literacy, concerns of plagiarism and Arabic authenticity, and infrastructure and regulatory readiness. This study concludes that the development of AI-based Arabic learning media models must depart from a contextual design, centered on user needs, and supported by adequate policies and infrastructure, so as to make an important conceptual contribution to the development of pedagogical, adaptive, and ethical AI media in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with an interpretative approach that focuses on understanding the meanings behind data obtained from real-life contexts. This method aims to describe phenomena in depth without manipulating variables or field conditions. Data analysis is carried out through three main stages—data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing—all intended to gain a comprehensive and valid understanding. The findings indicate that Islamic education plays a crucial role as the primary foundation in shaping students’ character. Islamic teachings emphasize not only the mastery of knowledge but also the strengthening of moral and spiritual values that serve as life guidance. This form of education fosters a balance between intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence, thereby shaping individuals who are faithful, noble in character, and responsible toward themselves and society. The values of exemplary conduct and religious moderation serve as essential principles in the character-building process, where teachers and the educational environment act as real-life role models for students. The implementation of Islamic education is realized through the integration of Islamic values into teaching and learning activities as well as school culture, ensuring that character values are not merely taught but also internalized in daily life. Thus, Islamic education proves to be a comprehensive educational system that is relevant to contemporary challenges and effective in shaping a generation of strong character, knowledge, and virtuous conduct.

Abstract

This study examines the framework of contemporary fiqh in the era of digital transformation, focusing on how Islamic law adapts to social, technological, and communicative changes within the Muslim community. Digitalization has reshaped religious authority, fatwa-issuing methods, and the dynamics of legal understanding in public spaces. Phenomena such as online fatwas, AI muftis, and digital religious content demand methodological reconstruction so that fiqh remains relevant to the context of the time without compromising its foundational principles of the Sharia. This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of journals and academic publications from the past five years that discuss the intersection between fiqh, technology, and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. Through content and thematic analysis, findings indicate that technological development has given rise to digital-maqāṣidī fiqh, a model of Islamic law that emphasizes public benefit (maṣlaḥah), digital ethics, and adaptability to technological innovation. Digital transformation offers broad opportunities for the dissemination of Islamic law but also raises challenges regarding religious authority and the validity of legal sources. Therefore, synergy between scholars, academics, and policymakers is required to build an ethical, collaborative, and maqāṣid-oriented digital fiqh ecosystem as the foundation for the future of Islamic law.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as an effort to strengthen students’ religious character at SMP Negeri 1 Bendosari, and to analyze its supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a field research approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic Education teachers, and students. The results revealed that the Merdeka Curriculum has been implemented through intraclass, co-curricular, and religious habituation activities such as Qur’an memorization (tahfidz), congregational prayers, daily supplications, and the smile, greeting, and respect program. The key supporting factors include school policy support, teacher exemplarity, a strong religious culture, and parental involvement. In contrast, the main obstacles are limited time, insufficient worship facilities, and diverse religious backgrounds among students. The findings imply that Islamic Religious Education within the Merdeka Curriculum framework effectively fosters students’ moral and spiritual character, reinforcing the Pancasila Student Profile of faith and noble character.

Abstract

The integration of information and communication technology (ICT) in education has become indispensable, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study explores how ICT-based learning media are utilized in PAI at SMK Kesehatan Daarul Hidayah Sukoharjo, a health vocational high school in Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews with the Principal, Islamic Studies teachers, students, and parents, as well as observations of classroom practices and relevant documents. The results indicate that the use of various ICT-based media—such as digital presentations, educational videos, Qur’an and tajwid applications, online learning platforms (e.g. Google Classroom and WhatsApp), interactive quizzes (Kahoot and Quizizz), online Islamic resources, and video recording of religious practices—has made PAI learning more engaging, interactive, and accessible. These tools enhanced students’ motivation, participation, and understanding of Islamic concepts. The study also identifies challenges like limited infrastructure and varying digital literacy among teachers and students. Overall, the findings affirm that ICT integration in PAI can modernize teaching methods and contextually instill Islamic values in the digital era. Continuous support in teacher training and facility improvement is recommended to sustain effective technology-enhanced religious learning.
