Abstract

The development of interactive multimedia learning based on ethnomathematics using Android was motivated by the fact that many students were not happy with mathematics subjects, because they considered mathematics difficult and difficult to understand. It is known based on field analysis, one of the causes is that the learning methods used are still conventional, causing monotonous and passive learning. This research aims to develop interactive learning applications to increase student creativity. Learning media was developed in the form of an application equipped with interactive videos in it which is intended for Class IX students. This research uses the development stages of the ADDIE development model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation), as well as learning media quality criteria using three criteria according to Nieveen in 1999, namely that a product developed is said to be of quality if it meets the criteria of valid, practical and effective. The conclusion of this research was obtained from validation which shows that the Bayutrago application is included in the criteria of being very valid and very practical. The average KBKM of students using the Bayutrago application is more than 65, the proportion of classical completeness is more than 75%, the average class that uses the Bayutrago application is more than the average class that does not use the Bayutrago application, the proportion of classes that use the Bayutrago application is more than the classes that do not use the Bayutrago application, and the maximum N-gain and minimum N-Gain values for classes that use the Bayutrago application are more than the maximum N-gain and minimum N-Gain classes that do not use the Bayutrago application.

Abstract

Learning mathematics requires good metacognition skills to solve problems through a series of critical, rational, and logical thinking activities. Students' lack of understanding and confidence during the learning process shows the importance of self-efficacy. The problem-based learning model helps students' thinking process in solving problems with confidence in their abilities. This study aims to analyze, review, and draw conclusions from the literature relevant to mathematical metacognition skills in terms of self-efficacy in problem-based learning models. The literature study method was used to review previous journal articles as the main reference source relevant to students' mathematical metacognition skills in terms of self-efficacy in PBL models. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that students' mathematical metacognition ability and self-efficacy in problem-based learning (PBL) model learning have a relationship with each other whereas mathematical metacognition ability affects students' self-efficacy. Students with high mathematical metacognition skills will have good self-efficacy and vice versa.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ numeracy literacy skills from the perspective of learning styles through differentiated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by performance assessment. Numeracy literacy is a crucial competency in 21st-century education, enabling students to interpret, analyze, and apply mathematical concepts in real-life contexts. However, preliminary observations at SMP Negeri 4 Jepara revealed low numeracy literacy levels, with students struggling to solve contextual mathematical problems. This research employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, combining quasi-experimental and qualitative approaches. The experimental group received differentiated PBL with performance assessment, while the control group received conventional PBL. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, questionnaires on learning styles, and interviews, and were analyzed using statistical tests and thematic analysis. The results indicate that differentiated PBL with performance assessment significantly improved students’ numeracy literacy, with posttest scores surpassing the minimum mastery criteria and achieving classical completeness above 75%. Furthermore, learning style analysis revealed distinct patterns in problem-solving strategies among visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. The findings highlight the importance of integrating differentiated instruction with authentic assessment to address students’ diverse learning needs and enhance their mathematical literacy in meaningful contexts

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Treffinger learning based on Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) assisted by modules on students’ mathematical literacy. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The participants were two tenth-grade classes of a Madrasah Aliyah, with one class assigned as the experimental group, which received Treffinger learning combined with TaRL and supported by modules, and the other class as the control group, which received conventional learning. Instruments used in the study included a mathematical literacy test adapted from PISA tasks, observation sheets on lesson implementation, and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis consisted of normality and homogeneity tests, an independent sample t-test, a proportion test, and normalized gain (N-Gain). The results showed that the experimental class achieved better outcomes in mathematical literacy compared to the control class. The mean posttest score of the experimental class was 76.5, while the control class obtained 65.2, with the t-test indicating a significant difference (sig. 0.001 < 0.05). Furthermore, the experimental class reached a higher level of mastery with a mean N-Gain of 0.58 (medium-high) compared to 0.39 (medium) in the control class. These findings suggest that Treffinger learning based on TaRL assisted by modules is effective in improving students’ mathematical literacy.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology in the 21st century requires students to possess statistical literacy skills in understanding and interpreting data-based information. However, students' statistical literacy skills are still relatively low, so innovative learning approaches are needed to support more active and meaningful learning. This study aimed to develop teaching materials integrated with Articulate Storyline and the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model to improve students' statistical literacy skills. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The results showed that the developed teaching materials were valid, had a good readability level, and were effective in improving students' statistical literacy skills. The implementation of the PBL model encouraged students to understand, analyze, present, interpret, and conclude data through contextual problem-solving activities. In addition, the integration of Articulate Storyline created a more interactive learning environment through the use of various learning media. Therefore, the developed teaching materials are feasible to support the improvement of students' statistical literacy skills.
