Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of skills and improvement of critical thinking of students before and after implementing differentiated learning through the Problem Based Learning model on the material of heat and its transfer. The method used is a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consists of one class with 31 students. The research data were obtained by providing a critical thinking skills test in the form of pretest and posttest questions consisting of 5 essay questions. The results show that the average score for the pretest is 47.90% (medium category) and the posttest is 69.03% (high category). Based on calculations using paired sample tests, a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.00 < 0.05 indicates a significant improvement in posttest scores after treatment with differentiated learning through the Problem Based Learning model. Therefore, it can be concluded that differentiated learning with the Problem Based Learning model can enhance students' critical thinking skills on the topic of heat and its transfer.

Abstract

In modern education, teachers act as facilitators who encourage students to learn actively and independently, in line with the demands of 21st century skills such as critical thinking. The study's objectives were to: 1) evaluate how the PBL model with the TaRL approach affected the physics students' critical thinking abilities, 2) ascertain how much the students' critical thinking abilities had improved, and 3) describe how the PBL model with the TaRL approach can improve the critical thinking abilities of physics students. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was used in the study. Two eleventh-grade classes made up the sample: class XI E, which was the control group and used traditional teaching techniques, and class XI D, which was the experimental group and used the PBL model with the TaRL approach. With an average posttest score of 82.68, the experimental group outperformed the control group, which had an average score of 73.26. With a t-test significance value less than 0.001, the results showed a significant difference between the two groups. With an average N-gain score of 0.60 and a Cohen's d value of 1.15, this difference is categorized as substantial with a moderate effect size.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on differentiated learning on the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in work and energy materials at SMP Negeri 2 Selakau Timur. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental experiment design, namely by using one pretest-posttest group. The results of the study show that the application of the PBL model based on differentiated learning is able to significantly improve students' critical thinking skills. The average score of the pretest students was 17.25, while after the implementation of PBL learning, the posttest score increased to 84.83. This increase is evident with an N-gain value of 0.81, which indicates a high category of improvement. In addition, the implementation of differentiated learning with the PBL model reached an average of 90-92%, indicating that the learning went well and as expected. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that differentiated learning with the PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, especially in work and energy materials.

Abstract

In the Merdeka Curriculum, learning objectives include learning skills that students must achieve at each stage. The learning objectives in Phase E consist of elements of scientific understanding and process skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on scientific understanding and process skills in renewable energy topics for 10th-grade students. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research instruments included multiple-choice tests to measure scientific understanding and observation sheets to assess process skills. The findings showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class, and the Independent Samples t-test revealed a significant difference in scientific understanding. Students' process skills also showed significant improvement. The results indicate that students in the experimental class demonstrated better improvements in scientific understanding and process skills compared to those in the control class. In conclusion, the implementation of PjBL effectively enhances scientific understanding and process skills through an active and real-world problem-based learning approach.

Abstract

Physics lessons are among the most interesting because they relate to actual events. Physics learning requires an independent learning process that equips students with problem-solving skills. This study examines how the Problem-based Learning (PBL) model and the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) strategy affect the resolution of physics issues involving momentum and impulse topics. There are 375 grade XI students participating in a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The TaRL technique and the PBL model had a substantial impact on physics problem-solving; there is a significant influence on students' problem-solving abilities and the magnitude of the influence, according to the results of the independent sample t-test, which had a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001, which is less than 0.05. Cohen's d = 1.08 (high) and the N-gain score was 0.61 (moderate) for the TaRL method and PBL model, respectively.
