Abstract

Mental Hygiene is a branch of psychology that talks about the treatment of human mental health. One of the scientists who focuses on this field is Zakiah Daradjat. He succeeded in reformulating his mental hygiene concept so that it has its own characteristics. Not only speaking in theory, but he has also applied his concept in fostering community mental health in his home clinic and also formal educational institutions through the foundation he founded, namely the Islamic Foundation Ruhama. In his thesis, he is interested in researching the problems of adolescents in Indonesia. This is because adolescence is a transitional age from children to adults who need more attention in dealing with life problems. Formal education institutions become one of the mediators to play a big role in dealing with their problems. This research is interesting because the mental hygiene of zakiah daradjat is able to be a solution in dealing with adolescent problems that are applied through his formal education. This is grounded research by making the main research objects of Islamic Junior High School and Islamic Vocational High School Ruhama, South Tangerang. Data collection by interview and studying the curriculum in both schools. After conducting the research, it was found that the application of Zakiah Daradjat’s mental hygiene concepts at the two high school institutions was successful and exemplary. This success is driven by three factors. First, there are mental hygiene values of zakiah daradjat which are in line with Pancasila. Second, attractive and innovative application methods. Third, holistic and integrative application techniques in the three education centers.

Abstract

Secularism is one of the world’s warnings regarding religious matters. In the context of secularism education, which can be interpreted as the wrong information between general education and religious education. This understanding seeks to eliminate Islamic religious values in education. The practice can be started from the design of an educational curriculum that is dry from religious values, as happened in the Western world. This text aims to explore the secularization of thought that exists in the world of education, especially in Indonesia. By using descriptive analytical methods, this study found several important conclusions. Secularism has entered and has a major influence on the dynamics of life, especially in education. Secular educational institutions have indoctrinated students, further away from religious values. The implication is that students no longer consider religious teachings to be important, the worse impact is that students are allergic to religious teachings. Transcendental values in religion are lost, moral decency occurs everywhere, manners are no longer visible, respect for parents, teachers are absent, students tend to be anti-helping, bullying occurs at anyone and ages. In addition, the impact of education secularization gives birth to students who are lazy, undisciplined, easy to complain, and like to commit criminal acts. More than that, when they have finished their studies, they will grow up to be dignified and arrogant figures, irresponsible politicians, capitalist economists, and so on.

Abstract

The aims of this paper is to examine the thoughts of Prof. Dr. Muhaimin. MA about the reconstruction of Islamic education. The development of Islamic education in schools is a culture of quality and quantity and will be used as a platform, values, enthusiasm, attitudes, and behaviors for education as a lactor in the school environment. Muhaimin offers a reconstruction of Islamic education by offering a modernization paradigm in education because it was considered more ideal to be applied in the arena of the development of Islamic education. Meanwhile, the educational theory used was in accordance with the education theories of the Neo-modernists namely by continuing to actualize old theories that were still compatible with the demands times accompanied by new innovations in education. In that context, renewal of Islamic education according to Muhaimin must be done by conducting integrated and multicultural-based education. The idea of renewing Islamic education offered includes implementing Islamic Religious Education learning that is integrated with a multicultural-based approach to inquiry and Islamic education, namely developing education through the learning of contextual and research-based Islamic religion. Actualization of the thought above is based on the modernization paradigm and Neo-modernist theory both at university and at school.
