Abstract

Decresing in water quality and quantity are caused by excessive use of water springs, which have an impact on long-term supply of water. If it happens water as an environmental asset will increase in price and can no longer be consumed freely. Gemulo spring is the only source of water utilized by the people of Dusun Cangar through HIPPAM Cangar services. Gemulo spring requires an incentive system, namely by applying the right water price and the right institution. The purpose of this research is: calculate the value of Willingness to Pay (WTP) and the total value of WTP, (2) analyze the variables affecting the value of WTP HIPPAM customers Dusun Cangar asthe beneficiary of Gemulo springs. This analysis uses Contingent Valuation Method and linear regression. The results are (1) Estimated value of WTP is Rp 17,950 a month and total WTP value is Rp 8,243,050 a month; (2) The variables that influence the value of WTP of Cangar community is the amount of water demand (KA) and the cost of water needs (BA).

Abstract

The mechanism of monetary policy that affects economic growth is called as monetary policy transmission mechanism. Indonesia embraces a dual banking system, i.e. sharia and conventional bank. Bank Indonesia as the monetary authority has sharia transmission mechanism instruments and conventional transmission mechanism instruments. The purpose of this research is to analyze the double monetary transmission effectiveness applying sharia schemes, namely financing and profit sharing, and conventional schemes: credit and interest rate scheme, in order to boost economic growth. This research applies the data in the period of 2008-2015. Data calibration process employs stationery test, co-integration test, stability test, causality test, impulse response function analysis, and forecast error variance decomposition. The result finds that the variable of sharia pathway is effective financing to promote economic growth. Variable of profit sharing and SBIS are not effective to promote economic growth. The variables of conventional schemes which are of total on credit and SBI are not effective in boosting economic growth while interest rate credit is effective to promote it.

Abstract

This study aims to examine qualification mismatch incidence and its effect on labor earning in Indonesia using SAKERNAS 2018. Qualification mismatch is identified using the normative method. A vertical mismatch is obtained by comparing education levels and 1-digit KBJI, while a horizontal mismatch compares 3-digits ISCED-F and 3-digits KBJI. In 2018, there were 4.6% undereducated labor and 27.9% overeducated labor. While the field of study mismatch occurred in 68.4% of the labor force in Indonesia. The effect of qualification mismatch on labor earning is estimated using the ordinary least square method. The results show that there is a 5.24% - 6.24% wage premium for undereducated laborers. Wage penalty of 6.28% -7.52% were suffered by overeducated labors, while those who experienced field of study mismatch of 5.89% -6.80%

Abstract

This study is about the Phillips curve in Indonesia from 1990 to 2019 using a VAR model to find out whether there is a stable tradeoff a strictly negative relationship between inflation and unemployment in the shortrun, and whether the coefficient of expected inflation is positive. This study found that there is negative expected inflation, meaning that the relationship between inflation and unemployment is not strictly downward sloping in the short run. Negative expected inflation will face difficulties to Bank of Indonesia (BI) in managing interest rate stemmed from economic shocks. Monetary contraction will decrease output and increase both unemployment and inflation, but monetary expansion does not result in meaningful output growth. Monetary expansion should be maintained at a longer period to increase output and purchasing power so that the expected inflation will become dynamically positive as modified Phillips curve suggested

Abstract

The development of sharia banking industry today is one of the main indicators of economic development of Islamic finance in Indonesia. In the banking area, including sharia banking, the issue of efficiency and productivity measurement are two important things. This study attempts to analyze the CCR model as a basic model in DEA to see the efficiency level of sharia commercial banks in Indonesia for the period 2012-2016. Further Malmquist index is used to see the productivity level of syariah bank, both in terms of changes in efficiency and technological change which is then displayed in the form of quadrant 4 groups. The results obtained from the Malmquist index score (TFP Change) indicate that 8 sharia banks out of 11 BUS have increased productivity, or about 73% of all sharia banks. For analysis of bank group with efficiency change criterion (EFFCH) and technological change (TECH), there is 1 syariah bank which is in quadrant 1 (high technical and efficiency change), there are 4 syariah bank which is in quadrant 2 (high technical change but low efficiency change), and 6 sharia banks that enter into quadrant 3 (technical change is low but high efficiency change). Meanwhile, none of the sharia banks are in the quadrant category 4.

Abstract

The potential of fisheries that have been used by large ships and the majority of foreign ownership brings its own sadness to Indonesian maritime sovereignty. The reason is Indonesian fishermen who are more proficient as fishermen of small boats can not compete technologically and capture equipment so that the utilization of sea products is not optimized. As one of the solutions in addressing these problems, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries issued a moratorium policy (ban temporarily) for foreign ships in operation in Indonesian waters. The existence of this policy, of course, have an impact on fishermen, fish processing business operations, as well as regional economic conditions. For that purpose, this research would like to see the various impacts that happened with the moratorium policy, especially in Bitung City. Given Bitung is one of the cities with the contribution of a large fishery sector for the regional economy. In addition, many processing companies operate in the city. This article comes from research, Optimizing the Utilization of Marine Resources and Fisheries in a Global Context: Supporting Infrastructure for Increasing the Competitiveness of Fisheries Sector “. The method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques in primary and secondary. The implications of the moratorium policy proved to have a direct effect on both fishermen, business actors (UPI) and the conditions at Bitung Fishing Port. For fishermen, this became the starting point of improving the welfare, but on the other hand business actors disrupted the company’s operationalization and decreased logistics needs, especially fuel. This policy is one of the ways to realize maritime sovereignty, alignment to small fishermen, and most importantly to maintain marine ecosystem in order to be utilized for future generations.

Abstract

Rice for poor households (Raskin) is one of poverty alleviation programs in Indonesia that lasted 21 years, but its influence on household consumption is still causing debate. This study aims to examine the variations in the influence of the Raskin program on food consumption in various household groups based on expenditure using the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) data. The estimation model used is multivariate regression using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The results showed that in Raskin recipient households, the poorest groups (the lowest 20%) allocated more resources to consume rice and staple food than the less poor groups (the top 20%). Meanwhile, groups of less poor households relatively spend more on nutritious foods, such as eggs and milk, meat and fish. However, the proportion of cigarette and alcohol consumption is also higher in less poor households. The findings of this study encourage the need to improve the target of the Raskin program because the benefits are more enjoyed by less poor households than the poorest households.

Abstract

Most of the income for Bali tourism comes from foreign tourists expenditure which accounts for more than half of the local tourists. The fact therefore underlines the importance of foreign tourist growth observation due to its significance for Bali economy. This research aims at estimating the change of tourists arrival because of the fluctuation of IDR (depreciation and appreciation) which allegedly thought as one of the underlying factors affecting the number of tourists arrival. This research also aims at analyzing the sensitivity of foreign tourists to the change of traveling cost and at analyzing the tourists destination shift should there be any change of traveling cost and also at analyzing the characteristics of the foreign tourists affected by the exchange rate fluctuations. Event studies showed that exchange rate fluctuation did not affect foreign tourists decision on coming to Bali. This was due to the fact that foreign tourists arrival escalates regardless the exchange rate fluctuation (depreciation and appreciation). Meanwhile, descriptive analyses showed that only minority of foreign tourists were affected by exchange rate fluctuations with analysis characteristic of the country of origin. Moreover, despite the rise of traveling cost to Bali, more than 50% respondents chose to travel to Bali and although there was a change of destination, more than 30% respondents chose other Asian countries as a replacement. It was also revealed that the older the tourists, the less the effect of exchange rate fluctuation on their decision to visit Bali.
