Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the visualization of the students, the students' cognitive load, and the teaching style of the teacher while teaching using the augmented reality (AR) teaching kit in the classroom. The population involved 90 Welding Technology students at Vocational College of Batu Pahat. The purposive sampling method was used and involved 30 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire to obtain information. Data were collected and analyzed descriptively. Based on the pilot study, the Cronbach Alpha value was 0.94. The results showed that the use of an AR teaching kit was able to enhance students’ visualization and reduced the cognitive load experienced by the students. In addition, teaching and learning are more interesting because of the teaching style of teachers who use theories and practices simultaneously. Furthermore, the use of AR in education can enhance the visualization of students abstractly, which helps them when conducting experiential tests and establishing a safe teaching and learning environment.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) to analysethe changes of the students’ attitudes resulted by the implementation of characters education in the practice of Complex Machining Processes using the collaborative skills based method; (2) to assess the improvement of the students’ achievement after the implementation. This study is a Class Action Research conducted in the practice of Complex MachiningProcesses. The data collection  was conducted using observation, documentation, interviews and assessment results of the practices. The data analysis technique useda quantitative descriptive analysis. The results revealed: (1) the significant positive attitudinal changesof the students with the averages of 30% ; (2) the students increased the achievement with the averages of 7 points.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to determine the effectiveness of Case-Based Cooperative Learning in the context of Student-Centered Learning 2) to improve the students’ cognitive abilities in order to increase the learning achievement. This study was conducted in the Department of Electrical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. The learning method was applied in the subject of Artificial Intelligence, the Study Program of Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics Education for the students of 2010 academic year. The data collection techniques were observation, tests and questionnaires. The data was analysed using quantitative descriptive and regression analysis. The results showed 1) there is significant effect of the Case-Based Learning on the students’ cognitive abilities 2) there is significant effect of Cooperative Learning on the students’ cognitive abilities 3) there is significant effect of Student-Centered Learning on the students’ cognitive abilities 4) there is 47% significant effect of Case Based Learning, Cooperative Learning and Student-Centered Learning on the students’ cognitive abilities.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims at: (1) finding out the teacher efforts to integrate entrepreneurship learning in vocational schools into the curriculum in order to create effective learning process based on the national standard of the education and learning process, (2) finding out the entrepreneurship learning model in vocational schools which is able to give illustration process and resulting in significant entrepreneurship education showing the benefits than theothers models. This study was using survey method. The study was conducted in vocational schools around Yogyakarta Special Region. The study was in March until October 2012. The samples of the study were SMKN 1 Temanggung, SMKN IV Surakarta and SMKN 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo. Data collection techniques were (1) observation and (2) questionnaire. The instrument development was from the main variable, i.e. the effort of entrepreneurship learning. The instrument validation was using content and construction validation. Content validation was using to measure the content accuracy of the entrepreneurship learning model aspects while the construction validation was to know the internal consistency. For the reliability, the researchers employed correlation statistic of product moment. The data analysis technique was descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the research were: (1) teachers’ effort to integrate entrepreneurship learning into curriculum to meet the national standard can be categorized as “on progression”, (2) there were some examples of entrepreneurship learning models in vocational schools that were able to show the illustration process and resulted in significant entrepreneurship education, such as: (a) Entrepreneurship Laboratory Model of SMKN IV Surakarta, (b) Project Work Model of SMKN 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo, and (c) Entrepreneurship Bench Mark Learning Model of SMKN 1 Temanggung.Keywords: Learning Effort, Entrepreneurship Learning Method.ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) ditemukan upaya-upaya guru agar pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum sehingga terjadi proses pembelajaran yang efektif sesuai dengan standar nasional proses pendidikan dan pembelajaran, (2) ditemukan model pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK yang dapat memberikan ilustrasi proses dan hasil pendidikan kewirausahaan yang secara signifikan menunjukkan keunggulan dibandingkan dengan yang lainnya.Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode survey. Tempat penelitian di SMK-SMK di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dan sekitarnya.Waktu penelitian bulan Maret 2012 sampai dengan bulan Oktober 2012.Sampel penelitian SMKN I Temanggung, SMKN IV Surakarta, SMKN I Buduran, Sidoarjo. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan: (1) observasi, (2) angket. Pengembangan instrument dari variabel pokok yaitu upaya pembelajaran kewirausahaan.Validitas instrument digunakan validitas isi dan validitas konstruksi.Validitas isi untuk mengukur ketepatan isi dari aspek-aspek model pembelajaran kewirausahaan.Sedangkan validitas konstruksi untuk mengukur konsistensi internal. Reliabilitas digunakan  statistik  korelasi product momen. Metode analisis data digunakan analisis statistik diskriptif.Simpulan penelitian: (1) upaya guru agar pembelajaran pendidikan kewirausahaan dapat menyatu ke dalam kurikulum sehingga sesuai dengan bunyi standar nasional secara keseluruhan dalam katagori diupayakan, (2) tersedia beberapa contoh model pembelajaran kewirausahaan di SMK yang dapat memberikan ilustrasi proses dan hasil pendidikan kewirausahaan yang secara signifikan menunjukkan keunggulan dibandingkan dengan yang lainnya, yaitu: (a) Entrepreneurship Laboratory Model di SMK N IV Surakarta, (b) Project WorkModel SMK N 1 Buduran, Sidoarjo, dan (c) Entrepreneurship Bench Mark Learning Model SMK N 1 Temanggung.Kata kunci: Upaya pembelajaran, Model pembelajaran kewirausahaan.

Abstract

Pendekatan kreativitas merupakan pilihan dari metode humanistik yang cocok diterapkan dalam implementasi kurikulum yang berbasis kompetensi pada mata kuliah Komputer di jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan (JPTSP), Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Bagi mahasiswa yang sudah bias menggunakan komputer diharapkan akan memacau kreativitasnya dan bagi yang belum bisa akan merasa tertantang untuk dapat menggunakannya. Penilitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pencapaian kompetensi mahasiswa bidang aplikasi komputer melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang berbasis kreativitas dengan teknik creative completion. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dengan mengambil subyek penelitian mahasiswa JPTSP yang mengambil mata kuliah komputer. Waktu penelitian selama semester ganjil tahun 2006/2007 bertempat di LAB Komputasi Teknik Spil JPTSP. Siklus yang digunakan sebanyak empat siklus. Analisis data digunakan deskriptif kuanititatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa (1) model pembelajaran dengan pendekatan kreativitas yang menggunakan teknik creative completion pada kuliah komputer dapat meningkatkan pencapaian kompetensi mahasisawa dalam bidang aplikasi komputer. (2) pemberian kesempatan pada mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan kreativitasnya melalui teknik creative completion merupakan solusi yang tepat untuk mengatasi hambatan dalam penerapan teknik pembelajaran tersebut yang berupa (a) heterogenitas kemampuan mahasiswa dalam penguasaan komputer (b) ketergantungan mahasiswa yang kompetensinya rendah kepada mahasiswa yang kompetensi lebih tinggi dan (c) motivasi mahasiswa yang rendah untuk menguasai aplikasi komputer yang jarang dipakai tetapi sangat dibutuhkan seperti MS excel.

Abstract

ABSTRACTNowadays, the Information Systems has become large and distributed. The need of data has become very complex and difficult to provide. In accordence with the distributed system concept, an Information System consists of applications that have their own database and system.State Polytechnic of Malang is Polytechnic that have many major and concentration . Therefore they are using Information System to support their Bussiness Rule. Based on this issue, then we must have a system that can communicate application or system to another application or system.To facilitate the communicationbetween two applications or systems, it needs a service that can provide data exaclty when needed. SSIS(Sql Server Integration Service) is one of many solutions that we can use. Because of its performance and compactness with MsSQL server, it makes it valuable and applicable. Abstract

This study analyses the effectiveness of instructional media using Digital Video Disc (DVD) and videos in nutrition education concerning the development of toddlers’ food preferences of balanced meals based on community empowerment. The media was expected to be used by the cadre of Posyandu (Maternal and Child Health Centre) and housewives in Rawamangun village. This study used the quasi experiment method. The data analysis showed the score of F was 15.89 that was higher than the F table with the score of 4.11 in the significance level of 0.05. It indicates the learning outcomes of the instructional media using DVD and videos was higher than using handouts. The result of this study was a nutrition education model concerning the development of toddlers’ food preferences of balanced meals in the form of DVD and videos that can be effectively applied. The media is able to improve the learning outcomes of nutrition education including the knowledge and the skills. Thus it indirectly supports the government program in community empowerment. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas  penggunaan media dalam bentuk DVD interaktif dan video dalam perancangan model pendidikan tentang pembentukan kesukaan balita terhadap makanan bergizi seimbang pada ibu berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat yang dapat digunakan oleh kader posyandu dan ibu rumah tangga kelurahan Rawamangun. Metode quasi experiment. Hasil analisis varians dua jalur antar kolom diperoleh harga Fhitung = 15,89 lebih besar dibandingkan Ftabel = 4,11 pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05. Nilai ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar kader posyandu dengan media dalam bentuk DVD dan video lebih baik dibandingkan dengan media handout. Hasil penelitian dapat membentuk suatu model pendidikan gizi yaitu media dalam bentuk DVD interaktif dan video tentang pembentukan kesukaan anak terhadap makanan bergizi seimbang yang diterapkan. Media dan metode tersebut dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar berupa pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam penyuluhan gizi pada ibu, kader posyandu dan masyarakat sehingga secara tidak langsung dapat membantu program pemerintah dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat. The developed media improves the achievement of nutritional education of mothers, society and indirectly helped the government program in community empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate and evaluate: 1) component of context; 2) component of input; 3) component of process; and 4) component of product. The study employed the CIPP model. The research subjects were 65 respondents. The data were collected through a questionnaire, observations, interviews, and documentation. The quantitative data were processed descriptively using SPSS 16.0 program for Windows. The results of the study showed that for context component, there were 34.9% students who strongly agreed, 61.5% who agreed. There were 75% supervising teachers who strongly agreed, 25% who agreed. 100% BS/IS supervisors strongly agreed. The input component, there were 51% students who strongly agreed, 48.8% who agreed. There were supervising 87.5% teachers who strongly agreed, 12.5% who agreed. 100% BS/IS supervisors strongly agreed. The process component, there were 30.2% students who strongly agreed, 48.8% who agreed. There were 62.5% supervising teachers who strongly agreed, 37.5% who agreed. 100% BS/IS supervisors strongly agreed. The product component, there were 41.9% students who strongly agreed, 58.1% who agreed. There were 75.0% supervising teachers who strongly agreed, 25.0% who agreed. 100% BS/IS supervisors strongly agreed. In conclusion, all indicators in each component have been suitable with the implementation of the industrial work practicum in SMK N 3 Purworejo.

Abstract

This study examines the significance level of teaching factory learning model to the occupational readiness of the students. Using the research design of a quantitative approach with causal comparative, the study included the following variables: teaching factory learning model (X) and occupational readiness (Y).The population consisted of 30 students of the study program of Automotive Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Semarang. They were selected using proportional random sampling technique. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The findings shows the implemetation of teaching factory learning models (X) contributes significantly with the percentage of 22.80% to the occupational-readiness (Y). These results suggest that the implementation of teaching factory in the learning process is strongly recommended for the vocational educators both lecturers and teachers. The implementation can be adjusted to suit the conditions and the learning resources available in the educational institution.

Abstract

In language learning, besides suitable learning strategies, motivation plays as the motor to encourage learners to walk toward their desired plans. Moreover, learning cognition in workplaces is considered as good strategies for language learning in off-classrooms. To comprehend the learning motivation and learning cognition in workplaces of language learners, this study aims to explore the motivation’s components and learning cognitions in workplaces of Chinese learners. Five Vietnamese students, who had studied Chinese at least for six months, were subjects of the study. Interviews and diary note-takings were used as the instruments for data collection. Data were analyzed through a descriptive analysis and coding categories. The obtained results showed that there are three major factors of motivation's components for participants to learn Chinese: (1) communicative purpose, (2) interest in culture and (3) promotion of future career. Moreover, in term of cognition of Chinese usage in workplaces, obtained results showed that the cognition of participants in two key procedures: knowing from problem-solving and reasoning and knowing from association with people in their workplaces.
