Abstract

To find the most effective learning strategy for the practicum in the laboratory of materials of the department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (YSU), a study that aims to determine the effect of applying pre-test and work plan on the learning activities and the achievement of students in the laboratory was conducted. This action research used the purposive random sampling technique. Pre-test and work plan were conducted as the treatment. The data of study was collected through a test to analyse the students’ achievement scores, then they were analyzed using t-test with SPSS. The results of this study indicated that the application of pre-test and work plan in addition to the standard module was proven to be more effective than the  normative learning using the module with t = 3.055 p = 0.003 0.05. The implementation of the pre-test and work plan in addition to the use of standard modules is able to  improve the students’ motivation, independence and readiness to learn as well as the cooperation among the students, therefore the achievement is also improved. The mastery of competencies increased significantly proved by the increasing values of mode 66 to 85 (the experiment), and mean 73.12 into 79.32 (experiment).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran rangkaian listrik melalui penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD serta memaparkan tanggapan mahasiswa Elektronika FT UNY terhadap implementasi pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian tindakan kelas. Pelaksanaan tindakan berlangsung 2 siklus, tiap siklus terdiri dari 4 kegiatan, yaitu: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Lokasi penelitian di Jurdiknik Elektronika FT UNY, mulai bulan September – Nopember 2007. Subyek penelitian mahasiswa D3 reguler Prodi Teknik Elektronika yang mengambil mata kuliah rangkaian listrik. Pengumpulan data dengan teknik dokumentasi, observasi, dan tes. Analisis data dilakukan dengan kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: pendekatan pembelajaran kooperatif teknik STAD dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran rangkaian listrik. Hasil belajar mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan, dari rerata 67,47 siklus I menjadi 74,78 siklus II. Sebesar 78,30% mahasiswa member tanggapan setuju terhadap implementasi pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis besarnya tegangan leleh tulangan beton bertulang  yang dibakar pada suhu 6000 Celcius dan 9000 Celcius  dengan tebal lindungan beton  2 cm dan 4 cm. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pengayaan pada mata kuliah  Bahan Bangunan dan Struktur Beton. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dan pelaksanaannya dilakukan di Laboratorium Bahan Bangunan Fakultas Teknik UNY, Laboratorium Struktur dan Laboratorium Teknik Mesin Universitas Gajah Mada. Jumlah sampel  sebanyak 15 buah. Bentuk konstruksi beton berupa balok, dengan ukuran 15 x 20 cm dengan  panjang 45 cm. Tulangan yang digunakan adalah tulangan baja polos berdiameter 10 mm dan begel diameter 6 mm sebagai bahan untuk merangkai tulangan. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan mencari harga reratanya. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh antara lain besarnya tegangan leleh tulangan sebelum dilakukan pembakaran= 385,12 MPa, setelah dibakar pada suhu 6000 Celcius dengan tebal lindungan beton 2 cm  sebesar 385,25 MPa, sedangkan untuk tebal lindungan beton 4 cm sebesar 382,50 MPa. Besarnya tegangan leleh tulangan  beton setelah dilakukan pembakaran pada suhu 9000 Celcius dengan tebal lindungan beton 2 cm sebesar 374,97 MPa, sedangkan untuk tebal lindungan beton 4 cm sebesar  377,48 MPa.  Secara umum beton yang dibakar sampai dengan suhu sampai 9000 Celcius, tegangan lelehnya  masih memenuhi persyaratan, yaitu masih dalam satu kelas (SII 0136-80)dan penurunan tegangan  lelehnya sebesar 2,63%.

Abstract

The rapid development of Information Technology today has given a new impetus to the use of technology in education. It also affects the learning styles which changes into distance learning (d-learning) as well as mobile learning (m-learning). Its changes is consistent with the use of multimedia elements such as text, graphics and video in android application. This study aims to evaluate the developed Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) Die Sinking applications using android platform in terms of design, development and function  based on teaching and learning theory. Random sampling technique was used to collect the data from 30 respondents in the year of 4 in Bachelor Degree of Technical Vocational (General Machining). The instruments to obtain information was in the form of questionnaire. Data were collected and analysed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version of 24. The study showed that this android applications meets the necessary criteria of content, presentation and interaction and it could help the students to understand the process of EDM Die Sinking

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui: (1) pemanfaatan sumber belajar internet mata kuliah Pengolahan Makanan Oriental, (2) pengaruhnya terhadap prestasi (nilai penyajian) mahasiswa, dan (3) pendapat mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian tindakan kelas. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester 3 Program Studi Teknik Boga (D3) sebanyak 26 orang, yang mengambil Mata Kuliah Pengolahan Makanan Oriental. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Boga Jurusan PTBB pada tahun 2006. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Model disain yang digunakan adalah model Kemmis Mc Taggart meliputi tiga langkah yaitu planning, acting and observing, dan reflecting dengan tiga siklus perlakuan. Data dianalisis dengan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa: (1) pemanfaatan sumber belajar internet pada mata kuliah Pengolahan Makanan Oriental memerlukan tiga siklus dengan perlakuan pada siklus ketiga adalah searching, mancetak hasil/ print, dan mengkaji kulinari, (2) sumber belajar internet dapat meningkatkan nilai penyajian mata kuliah Pengolahan Makanan Oriental dari nilai 2,5 (cukup sesuai – sesuai) menjadi 3,35 (sesuai – sangat sesuai), (3) mahasiswa berpendapat bahwa sumber belajar internet pada mata kuliah Pengolahan Makanan Oriental dapat lebih menambah wawasan tentang penyajian makanan oriental dan dapat membuat mahasiswa lebih kreatif serta lebih memahami kulinari makanan oriental.

Abstract

The issue of enhancing national competitiveness, in ASEAN, has been strengthened since the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. The recognition of graduate competence becomes very crucial for this era. Polytechnic as vocational higher education needs to prepare its graduates in order to compete in the job market, such as through professional certification. This study aimed at mapping the learning outcomes among graduates of the three year - diploma in Electronic Engineering in Polytechnic of Instrumentation and Electronic Control System on professional qualification based on level-5 Indonesian National Qualifications Framework Curriculum and Indonesia Industrial Standard Classification 2015. This study used a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation and interviews of the competent persons to provide related research data. The results showed that the learning outcomes of the three year diploma in Electronic Engineering were suitable for the work of the services and processing industry category. This map can be used to develop learning outcomes into a professional competence for a particular job in accordance with the qualifications of the graduate program.

Abstract

This study aims at improving the student’s learning outcomes through the cooperative learning strategy with Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) at SMKN 1 Saptosari. This was classroom action research (CAR) consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were the grade X students of Audio Video Engineering A. The data collection technique used the documentation of daily tests to show the improvement. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics. This study consisted of three cycles. The mean of test results for the first, second and third cycles were 7.06, 5.9 and 7.09 respectively. It showed that the cooperative learning strategy with STAD could improve the students’ achievement to fulfill the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC).

Abstract

The objectives of the study were: 1) to identify the profile of the Hospitality Engineering Education students’ teamwork skills, 2) to identify the profile of the Hospitality Engineering Students’ teamwork skills, 3) to describe the general overview of the students’ teamwork skills, 4) to identify the group of Bachelor program with the highest and the lowest teamwork skills, 5) to identify the group of the Associate program with the highest and the lowest teamwork skills. This study was a descriptive study. The results showed: 1) the Hospitality Engineering Education students who were at the stages of forming, storming, norming, and performing teamwork skills were 1.02%; 0.52%; 53.39%; and 45.07% respectively, 2) The Hospitality Engineering students who were at the stage of forming, storming, norming, and performing teamwork skills were 2.3%; 2.43%; 54.85%; and 40.42% respectively, 3) All of students in Bachelor and Associate programs generally have good team work skills, 4) in the Bachelor level, the groups with the highest teamwork skills were the regular Bachelor program of 2011 and the non-regular Bachelor program of 2010, while the groups with the lowest teamwork skills were the regular Bachelor program of 2009 and the non-regular Bachelor program of 2009, 5) at the Associate level, the group with the highest teamwork skills was the regular Associate program of 2011, while the group with the lowest team work skills was the regular Associate program  of 2010.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to develop entrepreneurial culture and to acquire the entrepreneurial culture development model in Vocational High Schools. The first stage is prototype development consisting of: (1) literature review (2) prototype development (3) prototype revision using Focussed Group Discussion (FGD), (4) manual and mapping instruments development (5) validation and verification through FGD, (6) self-evaluation and planning (7) experiment. Meanwhile, the second stage was the final to examine the effectiveness of the model consisting of: (1) model socialization (2) manual and instrument models validation through FGD, (3) self-evaluation and entrepreneurial culture development planning,(4) experiment, (5) revision and the manual for implementation, (6) model dissemination. The results of this study were (1) the entrepreneurial culture could be developed through internalization of entrepreneurship values into school culture, (2) the internalization of entrepreneurial characters includes: (a) mind-set (b) heart-set (c) action-set, (3) the approaches used in the internalization were figures, culture, and structures approaches, (4) the school culture as the target of the internalization consists of three layers, namely: (a) artifacts layer (b) the values and beliefs layers, (c) the assumption layer.
