Abstract

Civil society, or civil society, is an autonomous society capable of balancing the arbitrariness of elites who dominate state power. Therefore, the existence of civil society is a necessity for a democratic country. Democracy and civil society are two correlated entities. Democracy can only be upheld in civil society, and civil society cannot exist in a non-democratic society. In civil society, there are values that uphold equality, justice, and protect and respect the rights of citizens, both political, social, economic, and cultural rights.

Abstract

This article proves its strength hegemony orientation of Fiqh in hadith region, even defeat the orientation of hadith itself and other orientation like orientation tasawuf. For the reason, this article also indicates that one of the forming factors of al-Kutub al-Sittah and its acceptance aspect, is more response of Fiqh interest rather than the codification of hadith. This at least shown by some primary factor that is orientation of Fiqh in hadith riwaya, forming of hadith school, and Fiqh main stream in hadith codification.

Abstract

This article explaines the i’jaz ‘ilmy of al-Qur’ān in the use of the words sama’ and baṣar. The Qur’an often mentions these two words together in one verse, but what often comes first is the words sama’. This paper wants to know the secret behind the formation of those words using qualitative method, namely collecting data about the object of research in the form of the words sama’ and baṣar. Based on the research conducted, several conclusions have been found that the words sama’ and baṣar in the Qur’an are mentioned thirty-four times, although in some verses the words baṣar takes precedence, but does not change the consistency of the Qur’an in terms of balaghah and its contents. The consistency of al-Qur’an in the mention of the words sama’ which proves first proves that the phenomena that occur in the universe are true, the sense of hearing, especially in humans, is indeed more important than ever since being born into the world until it ends from the world. The words sama’ and baṣar in the form of singular always discuss the individual human responsibility in the hereafter. In addition, it was found that the words sama’ in the form of singular and baṣar in the plural which discusses the signs of God’s power in the world.

Abstract

So far, hadith has been a theological reference to strengthen religious behavior. It is often used as motivation to foster religious enthusiasm related to the social dimension. From there emerge hadiths that are so familiar to the ears of Muslims, as they are often conveyed and directly related to social issues. However, the fame of a hadith often closes our concern to critically assess the status of the hadith. This paper attempts to critically examine the highly popular hadiths in society to see the extent of their authenticity. All of this needs to be done as an effort to place the hadith clearly and authentically and to distinguish between the words and the chain of words.

Abstract

This article examines the background of the emergence of liberation theology within secular society. The rapid advancement of Western civilization, particularly its profound impact on value systems and religion, has become a topic of discussion in Christian theology, as Christianity is the religion most closely associated with the development of modern Western society. Conservative theologians view such phenomena as inherently negative and continue to uphold orthodoxy. Meanwhile, some taking a liberal approach see it as a positive reality. The process of secularization is not viewed as inherently antagonistic to the existence of religion, but rather as a sign of progress in human consciousness that is fundamentally rooted in the Bible. Figures such as Friedrich Gogarten, Rudolf Bultmann, John A.T. Robinson, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, including Harvey Cox, belong to the latter group. Among these figures, Harvey Cox is the most outspoken proponent of secularization theology, particularly in his monumental work: “The Secular City: Secularization and Urbanization in Theological Perspective” (1965).

Abstract

In the early days of Islam, a mosque was more than just a place of spiritual solace. It also served as an educational and community service Centre. Community affairs were deliberated upon in the sublime tranquility of the mosque. This is in line with the mosque being a multi-functional institution and its centrality as a prime agency to facilitate the creation of an excellent mosque community. In most Muslim communities in Ghana, it is not clear who are tasked with the responsibility of managing and maintaining the mosque. In some communities, it is the Imam. In others, it is manned by volunteers. In most urban communities in Ghana, it is the Mosque Management Committee which is tasked to manage the affairs of the mosque. Within this committee, there is no stipulated qualification for membership. This makes it difficult, if not impossible for them to deliver to expectation. The interesting thing is that this committee is not accountable to the congregation since there is lack of transparency in their operations. Therefore, in an increasingly challenging external environment, with an ever-demanding community, the need to know how mosques are managed and how they serve as community centers to maintain high standards of Muslim activities is as great as ever; hence the need for this paper.

Abstract

I argue in this paper that the 9/11 phenomenon was not individual problem, but a problem of larger social issues. In the introduction of this paper, I clarify the above statement by Peter Berger in light of C. Wright Mills’ idea of the sociological imagination. Having clarified this, I discuss the behavior of the 9/11 hijackers in light of conflict and functionalist-oriented paradigms.
