Abstract

This study intends to determine the sensitivity of changes in oil prices to investment in power supply projects from the financial aspect. The investment analysis conducted is an evaluation of Net Present Value (NPV) using the production sharing contract (PSC) model with a profit sharing system. Based on the analysis conducted, the sensitivity of changes in oil prices has a very significant effect on the project NPV. Changes in oil prices by 60% from the base case to US $ 80 caused NPV to rise by 183%. But on the contrary if the price of oil touches the figure of US $ 20 or -60% from the base case, it will make the NPV negative, so the project is not economical to proceed. In addition, it know that the acceptance limit of investment in power supply projects is at oil prices greater than US $ 34 per barrel. This significant change in both the decline and increase in oil prices to the NPV is very logical because oil prices determine the amount of revenue earned from this project.

Abstract

A Gas Turbine is a rotary engine that extracts energy from a flow combustion gas. The reliability and efficiency of gas turbines are one of the top priorities at Saka Indonesia Pangkah Ltd (SIPL). In order to optimize the operating conditions of a gas turbine, three components are needed. First is the problem formulation which consists of objective functions, problem boundaries or constraints, and determination of optimized variables. The second component is a valid model, which represents the characteristics of a gas turbine installed in SIPL. The third component is the optimization technique that is suitable with the optimization problem that will be solved. In this paper, the objective function is maximizing gas turbine efficiency, some operational limitation as constrains by manipulating air to fuel ratio. The model was developed using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) was selected as the stochastic optimization technique to solve the problem. The neural network model created directly using the operational data from an actual parameter gas turbine generator. The data needed for ANN-based modeling is around 8150 data sets that will be used to train and validate the ANN model. Variable data sets were divided in two parts, for training purposes is 87.5% and for validation is 12.5%. Weight management for neural networks was carried out using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm which could give good results with RMSE = 7.3 X 10-3. From the results of the stochastic optimization (GA) simulation, the potential reduction of fuel gas consumption is around 280.8 kg/hr if the air mass flow can be increased from 2.4 kg/s to 2.7 kg/s or efficiency increase up to 10.6%.

Abstract

Meat is one of the most foodstuff consumed. The increasing consumption of meat had led some traders to falsify the identity of meat for gaining profit. The meat adulteration case that often occurs is substituting the beef with pork. This adulteration case is very detrimental to consumers, therefore a method to identify the type of meat sold is very necessary. The vibration spectroscopy method, Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), had been developed to analyze the type of beef and pork. The FTIR measurement was carried out with cut raw meat samples without further preparation. The Data obtained from the measurement are infra-red spectrum from beef and pork from 4000-500 cm-1 wavenumber and then the data was analyzed with Principle Component Analysis (PCA) statiscticall method. Projection result with PCA obtained data reduction that can represent all data generated from measurements shown through the Principle Component 1 and Principle Component 2 regions. Based on those projection, beef and pork profile area can be classified properly.

Abstract

In the mining industry, analyzing, and controlling the spare parts inventory is important activities and need special attention from the company. The high production cost of the mining industry, including spare parts and shortages costs affects the financial and operational aspects of the company. Spare parts inventory management policy is critical to increase the service level and minimize spare parts cost. In this mining case study, the out of stock incidents in the heavy equipment spare parts were often occurring and significantly affecting the performance of maintenance and operations. The purpose of this study is to determine minimum stock (safety stock) and maximum stock to reduce overstocks and reduce the number of stocks out in spare parts inventory and as well as inventory cost. The method used to solve the problem is economic order quantity (EOQ) and continuous review control (S, s) to determine the minimum and maximum stocks. Determining the combination of S and s has a major impact on the success of inventory control. Substitution parts are subdivided into alphabetical values to determine their significance. As a result of calculating inventory value using EOQ and S, s will get the highest inventory value to reduce inventory costs.
