Abstract

Coal-fired power plant (CFPP) is a type of power plant that is widely used for 35,000 MW electricity projects in Indonesia. CFPP must adjust to its operating strategies with the availability of abundant low-rank coal, and it will affect CFPP performance. This study aims to determine the optimum heating value of fuels, the trend of net plant heat rate (NPHR), the cost of electricity production (component C), and the optimum point of the CFPP operation. The data used is from CFPP operations. First, data is analyzed by descriptive statistics and formed into a regression model. The next step is to estimate the parameters of the population data. The regression model obtained was then carried out the goodness of fit test and residual analysis. Then, the variable’s values are changed to the Z-score and plotted in the regression model. The model interpretation is carried out and conclusions can be obtained to find out the optimum point. The conclusion of this study is the optimum point of generating electricity in CFPP can be achieved by using coal calorific values of 4,450 kCal/kg, NPHR of 2,683.6 kCal/kWh, and COE (component C) of Rp 436.5/kWh when using coal at a price of 732.2/kg and Net Power of 279 MW.

Abstract

Surabaya city has detailed spatial planning documents as instruments for flood reduction. The detailed spatial plan for the area regulates land use plans to prevent uncontrolled land use changes that cause flooding. The research question is "What is the efficiency of the detailed spatial plan as an instrument for flood management in the Kedurus River Basin?". The analysis tool is the spatial modeling of floods based on 2D Flow Area using HEC RAS 5 software. The first step is to build a spatial flood model using the existing condition parameters, the next step is to apply the parameters derived from the detailed spatial plan in the Kedurus River Basin on the models that have been built . The result is that the implementation of detailed regional spatial plans in the Kedurus watershed tends not to reduce the area of flood inundation even on the contrary increases the runoff coefficient. In the spatial model of flooding it is known that the condition of the return period of 20 years also shows an increase in the area of flood inundation to 0.5-1 meters from the existing condition which initially covered an area of 45.92 Ha to 72.38 Ha.

Abstract

The growth of an industry growth couldn’t be separated from technology development. Nowadays, technology development mostly affected by digitalization, which brought us to industry 4.0 era. The same thing also occurs in construction industry, although its development relatively slower than the growth in manufacturing industry. Construction technology, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D printing, and robotic equipments, has been introduced to construction industry. BIM is defined as digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility, forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle. However, in the end, technological development in Construction Industry depends on industry players’ readiness to accept and implement the most advance technology. This research’s focus is on BIM technology acceptance among players in Indonesia Construction Industry. The research will be conducted in Indonesia Construction Industry, data will be collected through questionnaires asked to the industry players, such as, consultants, project owners, and contractors who have already use BIM technology for their projects. The analysis will be conducted using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). TAM is a model which was developed to enhance our understanding about user acceptance of a technology, thus could enable technology designer and implementator to evaluate the system before it being implemented. The research’s result shows that Indonesia Construction Industry is able to accept BIM technology, the conclusion is taken because all the variables used in TAM has higher than 3 on 1 to 5 Likert scale. Path analysis also shows that Attitude Toward Usage variable do not affect Behavioral Intention variable. Direct, Indirect, and Total Effects analysis show that BIM technology acceptance is affected by Perceived of Usefulness. This result could be used as a basis to introduce BIM to new users, that people are more interested in its usefulness rather than ease of use variable.

Abstract

The high cost of raw materials handling from the port to the warehouses at PT. Petrokimia Gresik has encouraged this research to find solutions to reduce costs in raw material unloading activities. The location of factories and raw material warehouses that are separated from each other, the number of warehouses that are not yet connected with conveyor belts as well as the diverse types of raw materials become its own challenges in operating unloading activities to be more efficient. The layout and allocation of raw materials in the existing warehouses creates high cost of raw materials handling because slow moving raw materials are close to the production location, while fast moving raw materials are far from the production location. In addition, the differences in the existing unloading methods also affect the cost of raw materials unloading, the use of vessel cranes and dump trucks will increase costs, otherwise the use of conveyor belts will minimize the cost of raw materials handling. This research is important to find the layout and allocation of raw materials that have the most efficient handling costs. The steps in this study include (1) data collecting and processing; (2) making conceptual and simulation models, (3) verification and validation tests; (4) developing alternative scenarios; (5) running simulations based on alternative scenarios; (6) comparing scenarios using anova test and cost and benefit analysis. The simulation is done using Arena 14.0 software. The simulation results show that the re-design layout and allocation of 5 warehouses in Factory 2A and Factory 2B is the best alternative scenario. This scenario is proven to be able to minimize the cost of raw materials handling with savings of Rp. 10.958.028.455 per year with an ROI of 108% and a Payback Period of 0,48 years.

Abstract

In this research, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/silica nanofibers have been synthesized using electrospinning technique. Solutions of sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) in water and PVA flakes were blended and then processed by electrospinning method to obtain PVA/silica nanofibers. The effect of silica concentration on the resulting morphology and diameter of as-spun nanofibers were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrolyte uptake and retention of the as-spun nanofibers were measured. The silica concentration has an effect on the resulting nanofibers, where an increase in silica concentration resulted in a decrease on the diameter of the fibers. The manufactured nanofibers have an average diameter of 200-300 nm. The electrolyte uptake and retention values are also affected by the concentration of the silica in the electrospun solution, with the electrolyte uptake and retention values decreasing with the increase in silica concentration. The best values obtained are 151% for electrolyte uptake and 60% for electrolyte retention, which shows potential for PVA/silica nanofibers as an alternative material for supercapacitor separators.
