Abstract

The comparative study of copper accumulation, cadmium and zinc by macro fauna benthic species has been achieved in the Kangean Archipelago and Sura-baya (Indonesia). The preliminary survey had been taken because of the scientific data did not exist on the metallic contamination in the Kangean Archipelago. In compari-son, Surabaya is an industrial city that presents a strong potential contamination of copper; cadmium and zinc refer to the previous studies. The main object of the re-search was comparing the contamination level of the two sites by the slant concentration measurement on the abun-dant of macro fauna benthic species. It would be possible to define the bio indicator species of the contamination in order to use it as the term on the whole inter tropical cen-tre. The results showed that there was a specific differren-tiation between copper and cadmium concentration for Gafrarium tumidum (Kangean) in a varied sizes; Anadara inadequate collected from Kangean had shown the same variation but not for the cadmium concentration. The va-riances analysis of two factors (size vs site) on Anadara inadequate from both of sites showed that there were spe-cific differentiation between copper and zinc concentra-tion, but not for cadmium. Generally, the contamination level of copper, cadmium and zinc in Surabaya is higher than Kangean. The species of Nassarius globosus, Saccos-trea cucullata, Hinia sp and Anadara inadequate can be used to bioindicator species. The Anadara inadequate spe-cies is an ideal bioindicator species for the surveillance of cadmium contamination because they mostly found in the both of sites and accumulated (in average) strongly with 10,98 - 11,31 μg/g dry weight.

Abstract

The massive spatial expansion of the city into the rural area in recent decades has caused such problems as related to the spatial exploitation in villages surrounding. This raises a question of whether the open space change into land coverage building may have a spatial structure implication on settlement growth and evolution process in the villages surrounding. This paper reports a case study of Kasongan village in Bantul regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in between 1973-2010 in which the problem refers to the discussion of spatial structure is rarely addressed especially in village’s settlement growth and evolution analysis. The bound axis which consists of 4 (four) quadrants and one intersection refers to the reference axes in a Cartesian Coordinate System (CCS) is used to analyze the setting of the houses group unit around 4 areas/ quadrants. Through such spatial process analysis by means spatial structure approach, the continuity of latar (yard), in the central of houses group unit is detected. There is finding from this research that the latar which exists in ‘the central point’ of houses group unit in Kasongan during 4 decades significantly becomes the prominent factor of the basic spatial structure. It composes the houses group unit in Kasongan.

Abstract

The isotherm adsorptions of Cu2+ ions in aqueous solutions by cross-linked chitosan-cellulose composite membranes were investigated. The equilibrium isotherm adsorption studies were done in a batch system. The composite membranes have been prepared by coating 1 %, 2%, and 3 % (m/v) chitosan solution containing 1 % (m/v) acetic acid onto the grade 4 whatman paper filter and cross-linked by glutaraldehide. The effects of polyethylene glycol additive as a porogen agent of the composite membranes on the adsorption abilities were investigated also. The linear regression method was used to fit the adsorption data with the Langmuir model dan the Freundlich model. The fitting results show that the adsorption data more fit to the Langmuir model with the correlation coefficient value R2 higher than 0.97. The fitting of adsorption data to the Freundlich model result the correlation coefficient value R2 between 0.84–0.88. Furthermore, the Langmuir model was used to calculate the maximum adsorption capacity per surface area unit of the composite membrane (Qm) and the maximum adsorption capacity per weight unit of the composite membrane (Km). The results show that Qm increase with the increasing of chitosan concentration. The additions of PEG have increased Qm too. But 5% (m/v) PEG has increased Qm more higher than 10% (m/v) PEG. However, both the increasing of chitosan and the addition of PEG have decreased Km.

Abstract

Province of Archipelago of Riau is a region in Indonesia which is adjacent to Singapore and Malaysia. This province has a great potential conditions diversity and natural resources. Planning on public prosperity improvement is necessary in order to increase loyalty and nationalism to Republic of Indonesia. The aim of this research is to build a spatial econometric model of economic growth in Province of Archipelago of Riau. One of the results shows that in recent 4 years Batam always gives the largest contribution to GRDP in Province of Archipelago of Riau. This can be understood that the contribution is more than 72.0% not only based on GRDP at current prices, but also based on GRDP at constant prices. Economic growth rate in regions in Province of Archipelago of Riau is higher than national economic growth rate. The model fits well because the coefficient of determination R2 is more than 85%. There are only 3 worse models, i.e. based on building construction in Batam (with R2= 59.6%), in Tanjungpinang (with R2=74.0%), and based on transportation and communication in Tanjungpinang (with R2=37.1%).

Abstract

Heat assisted magnetization reversal on perpendicular magnetized nano-dots has been studied by solved Landau Lifshift-Gilbert equation for magnetic recording application. The heat assisted magnetization reversal scheme has been proven to be effectively reduces threshold field down to 90 %. Otherwise, this field doesn’t depend on heating time. To understand a read-write information process, cooling time dependence of threshold field has been evaluated. As a result, the threshold field depends on the cooling time and become constant after 300 ps. This result corresponds to data transfer of Hard Disc Drive about 30 Gb/s.

Abstract

Nowadays, mining of the musical ensemble has become very crucial since the information inside a musical ensemble is required by any musical contents services. In this research, we introduce Gamelan as one of the Indonesian traditional music instruments as our research objective. To indicate the changes of Gamelan features (i.e. tempo also the hammer struck styles) the segmentation of Gamelan music instruments is required as the music tagging tools. Adaptive LMS is employed for segmenting identical instruments that are played in the concurrent fashion. The target is to find how many instruments are played at the same time or separated by very short time (≤ 1 ms). The experiment results demonstrate robust detection with 0.02 ms accuracy for segmenting identical and simultaneously played Gamelan instruments. These results are employed for indicating the changes of Gamelan features, such as tempo also the hammer struck styles.

Abstract

We have been successfully synthesized YAG- :Ce3+ nanoparticle (60 nm in sized) having high crystalinity by using low temperature sol gel method. Due to additional of polyethylene glycol into the precursor source has been avoid inter particle hard-agglomeration. The influence of difference heating process on the crystallinity of YAG:Ce3+ was studied by means of XRD characterization. The highest crystallinity of YAG:Ce3+ was achieved via two step heating at 900 and 1100oC.

Abstract

In the multiple regression modeling, a serious problems would arise if the independent variables are correlated among each other (the problem of ill conditioned) and the number of observations is much smaller than the number of independent variables (the problem of singularity). Bayes Regression (BR) is an approach that can be used to solve the problem of ill conditioned, but computing constraints will be experienced, so pre-processing methods will be necessary in the form of dimensional reduction of independent variables. The results of empirical studies and literature shows that the discrete wavelet transform (WT) gives estimation results of regression model which is better than the other preprocessing methods. This experiment will study a combination of BR with WT as pre-processing method to solve the problems ill conditioned and singularities. One application of calibration in the field of chemistry is relationship modeling between the concentration of active substance as measured by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) absorbance spectrum. Spectrum pattern is expected to predict the value of the concentration of active substance. The exploration of Continuum Regression Wavelet Transform (CR-WT), and Partial Least Squares Regression Wavelet Transform (PLS-WT), and Bayes Regression Wavelet Transform (BR-WT) shows that the BR-WT has a good performance. BR-WT is superior than PLS-WT method, and relatively is as good as CR-WT method.

Abstract

During the last ten years, the growth of apartment buildings in Surabaya has encountered the bitter experience of global warming, resource depletion, energy scarcity, and other environmental impacts. We cannot avoid them, but we can minimize the negative impacts of global warming. The green building concept is one of the methods to minimize the environmental impact. It takes into account principles of sustainable development in planning, construction, operation, and maintenance. Greenship Rating Tools is used to evaluate and calculate green achievements, prior to green building certification. The aim of this research is to represent the perceptions of contractors and consultants toward application of Greenship Rating Tools on apartment buildings in Surabaya. Based on the data obtained from a questionnaires survey carried out to 41 respondents, the mean value ranking method is used to evaluate the main factors of Greenship. These factors are Appropriate Site Development, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Water Conservation, Material Resource and Cycle, Indoor Health and Comfort, and Building Environmental Management. In general, the results of this research show that there are a number of differences between perceptions of contractors and consultants toward application of Greenship Rating Tools on apartment buildings in Surabaya. According to the contractors’ perception, Visual Comfort is a factor that would easily to be applied, whilst consultants’ is Landscape. On the other hand, there are factors that would difficult to be applied. Based on contractors’ perceptiom is Climate Change, while consultants’ perception is Renewal Energy. In summary, Greenship Rating Tools can be applied on contractors’ and consultants’ perceptions, whilst there are some variables which can not be applied.

Abstract

A group decision support system is required on a value-based decision because there are different concern caused by differing preferences, experiences, and background. It is to enable each decision-maker to evaluate and rank the solution alternatives before engaging into negotiation with other decision-makers. Stakeholder of multi-criteria decision making problems usually evaluates the alternative solution from different perspective, making it possible to have a dominant solution among the alternatives. Each stakeholder needs to identify the goals that can be optimized and those that can be compromised in order to reach an agreement with other stakeholders. This paper presents group decision model involving three decision-makers on the selection of suitable system for a building’s roof. The objective of the research is to find an agreement options model and coalition algorithms for multi person decision with two main preferences of value which are function and cost. The methodology combines value analysis method using Function Analysis System Technique (FAST); Life Cycle Cost analysis, group decision analysis method based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in a satisfying options, and Game theory-based agent system to develop agreement option and coalition formation for the support system. The support system bridges theoretical gap between automated design in construction domain and automated negotiation in information technology domain by providing a structured methodology which can lead to systematic support system and automated negotiation. It will contribute to value management body of knowledge as an advanced method for creativity and analysis phase, since the practice of this knowledge is teamwork based. In the case of roof system selection, it reveals the start of the first negotiation round. Some of the solutions are not an option because no individual stakeholder or coalition of stakeholders desires to select it. The result indicates the alternative solution that will be the best-fit solution. In this problem, a space frame system is the ‘best-fit’ solution for the roof system.
