Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the strategy of community radio broadcasting in particular contestation Madu FM community radio in Tulungagung in East Java Indonesia. Madu FM community radio phenomenon is interesting to study because it is a community radio station that managed to grow in the midst contestation broadcasting. Community radio gets limitation restriction (restriction) of the state through the Broadcasting Act (Act No. 32 of 2002 on Broadcasting). Besides, the community radio still has to compete with the private radio and private television. Madu FM is able to adapt to circumstances without violating the rules. The result is a strategy of community radio broadcasting successfully innovate innovation so that it becomes exist. This research approach is qualitative approach with the method of observation and in-depth interviews. The study was conducted during the period from March to August, 2016.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui strategi penyiaran radio komunitas khususnya dalam kontes radio komunitas Madu FM di Tulungagung di Jawa Timur Indonesia. Fenomena radio komunitas Madu FM sangat menarik untuk diteliti karena merupakan stasiun radio komunitas yang berhasil tumbuh di tengah penyiaran kontestasi. Radio komunitas mendapat pembatasan pembatasan (pembatasan) negara melalui Undang-Undang Penyiaran (UU No. 32 Tahun 2002 tentang Penyiaran). Selain itu, radio komunitas masih harus bersaing dengan radio swasta dan televisi swasta. Madu FM mampu beradaptasi dengan keadaan tanpa melanggar peraturan. Hasilnya adalah strategi penyiaran radio komunitas berhasil berinovasi inovasi sehingga menjadi ada. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Penelitian dilakukan selama periode dari bulan Maret sampai Agustus 2016.Keywords: Community Radio, contestation, strategies, adaptation and rational choice.

Abstract

Indonesian women are marginalized in political decision making. Various of women organizations before independence considered that political education to women as an important step. The Coalition of Women’s programs focus on political education. The method used in this research is descriptive, explorative, exploratory for illustrated with clear linkages between issues. Data mining is done by in-depth interviews as the primary data and the study of literature as secondary data. The data were analyzed by the social movement theory. The reseult of this research namely : First, political education into the long-term effort to equip women to have a political vision in the lives of individuals, groups or state. Second, the Coalition of Women’s Yogyakarta region because of ideology and values held by diverse, have run into trouble when mobilization in the fild. Women’s Coalition Yogyakarta region as a mass movement, depending on the actors and major donors. Third, the Coalition of Women in the Yogyakarta area represents the activity is more elite and educated class, represented by its management, not a representation of the existing member base in the hamlets with the appearance of weak economic class and low education. Fourth, because the mass relations of women with a donor agency that is so close, without realizing the long term has made a run when there is mass movement of funds from donors, and shuffl away when the donor agency. The summary of research namely: Indonesian Women’s Coalition Yogyakarta region actually has qualifid as an embryo or a sprinkling of new social movements, but the growth of this movement must deal Weakness factors are present in the middle of the road: diffiulty building shared ideology, political representation, which represented the elite organization, no consolidation organizing base, dependence on donor funding agencies and lack of self-help and self-fiancing members to conduct political education of women.

Abstract

Internet and social media play important role in fostering both the creation of identities and the development of brand community. Brand community is a community of consumers of a specific brand that are socially constructed and shaped. However, research on this topic are mostly investigated at large enterprises context, leaving some gaps at small-medium enterprises (SMEs) context. SMEs, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia, hold important role to the country’s economic development. Therefore, this study aims to examine how SMEs build social media-based brand community by using qualitative research as its approach and applied a case study research method to investigate a Yogyakarta-based SME, AB. Findings show that AB build social media-based brand community on Facebook group with the help of its loyal customers. Strong relationship and intense interaction formed between the AB’s owner and some loyal customers are characteristics of social media-based brand community found in this research.

Abstract

This paper discusses the communication strategy developed by telecentres and challenges faced by the manager. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effective communication strategy in the extension process conducted through telecenters. The primary data obtained through field visits, observation, and interviews with managers of telecenters. Meanwhile secondary data obtained from writings made by telecenter managers on the internet and the data from the Communications and Information Technology Ministry. Telecenter in Indonesia is designed as a community development center to hold activities such as training, improvement of skills and knowledge as well as the implementation of economic activity. Based on data from Communications and Information Technology Ministry, East Java is the province that has the most telecenters because it was developed with cost sharing between provinces and districts budget. The analysis showed that the telecentres implement 10 stages of Wilson’s strategy with some adjustments. The role of the Office of Communications and Information Technology is very crucial in the planning and management of communication so that there should be capacity building for the officers. The challenges are about the institutional strengthening (organizational structure obscurity) and the unavailability of sources of information in accordance with the level and/or pattern of knowledge in rural communities. Infomobilisator role as an educator is very important given the complexity of the issue and the large amount of information in the internet. Telecenter was considered successful in creating a interconnectedness between individuals and between groups (communities). However, the impact related to increased prosperity for farmers have not been prominent. For the old generation of farmers, information about the price of commodities, seeds, and means of support have not become a real need and a felt need. Therefore, it is the role of infomobili sator to achieve intermediate objectives in order to reach the ultimate goal of poverty reduction.Tulisan ini membahas tentang strategi komunikasi yang dikem bang kan oleh telecenter dan tantangan yang dihadapi oleh pengelola. Tujuan tulisan ini yaitu menganalisis strategi komunikasi yang efektif dalam proses penyuluhan yang dilaku kan melalui telecenter. Data primer diperoleh melalui kunjungan lapangan, pengamatan, dan wawancara dengan pengelola telecenter. Sementara data sekunder diperoleh dari tulisan yang dibuat pengelola telecenter di internet dan data dari Kominfo. Telecenter di Indonesia dirancang sebagai tempat kegiatan pemberdayaan masya  rakat berupa pelatihan, peningkatan ketrampilan, dan pengetahuan serta pelaksanaan kegiatan ekonomi. Berdasarkan data Kominfo, Jawa Timur merupakan provinsi yang memiliki paling banyak telecenter karena dikembangkan dengan pola pembiayaan bersama antara provinsi dengan kabupaten. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa telecenter menerapkan 10 tahap strategi Wilson dengan bebe rapa penyesuaian. Peran Dinas Kominfo provinsi sangat besar dalam proses perencanaan dan manajemen komunikasi sehingga perlu ada peningkatan kapasitas SDM Dinas Kominfo terkait kedua hal tersebut. Tantangan yang dihadapi pengelola yaitu seputar kelembagaan (ketidakjelasan struktur organisasi) dan tidak tersedianya sumber informasi yang sesuai dengan tingkat dan/atau pola pengetahuan masyarakat desa. Peran infomobilisator sebagai penyuluh sangat penting mengingat kompleksitas isu dan jumlah informasi yang sangat besar di internet. Telecenter dianggap berhasil menciptakan “keterhubungan” (interconnectedness) antar perorangan dan antar kelompok masyarakat (komunitas). Namun dampaknya bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan bagi petani belum menonjol. Bagi petani generasi lama, informasi seputar harga komoditi, bibit, sarana pendukung belum menjadi real need dan felt need. Oleh karena itu, peran infomobilisator sangat penting untuk membantu mencapai tujuan antara sebagai jembatan ke tujuan akhir yaitu pengentasan kemiskinan.

Abstract

One of the themes that are often sought after by Muslim women on social media is the syar'i clothing. It aims to find clothes that are in accordance with the shari'ah of Religion. On the contrary, the production of syar'i clothing on social media is increasing. This study would like to look further at how media discourse attracts attention and constructs women's understandings of the syar'i clothing. This study use the discourse analysis approach by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe – with stages: exploration, identification, classification and interpretation. The results of this study are (1) the syar'i clothing discourse on social media is one form of social phenomena in society that is in the form of the emergence of a movement from a particular group in the State of Indonesia (2) basically that discourse is hegemony to clothing not syar'i. (3) the discourses also show the existence of certain motives from the pro syar'i group, namely in the form of realizing and demanding equality and recognition as the cultures of Indonesian society which already existed and were known in Indonesian society.Salah satu tema yang sering diminati oleh wanita muslim di media sosial adalah Pakaian Syar’i. Hal ini bertujuan mencari pakaian yang sesuai dengan syari’at Agama. Sebaliknya, produksi Pakaian Syar’i di media sosial pun semakin meningkat. Kajian ini ingin melihat lebih jauh bagaimana wacana media menarik perhatian dan mengkonstruk pemahaman-pemahaman wanita tentang Pakaian Syar’i. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis wacana Ernesto Laclau dan Chantal Mouffe – dengan Tahapan; eksplorasi, identifikasi, klasifikasi dan interpretasi. Hasil dari kajian ini adalah (1) wacana Pakaian Syar’i di media sosial adalah salah satu bentuk fenomena sosial di masyarakat yakni berupa munculnya sebuah gerakan dari kelompok tertentu di Negara Indonesia (2) pada dasarnya wacana-wacana tersebut merupakan bentuk hegemoni terhadap pakaian-pakaian yang dianggap tidak syar’i. (3) wacana-wacana itu juga menunjukkan adanya motif-motif tertentu dari kelompok pro syar’i yakni berupa mewujudkan dan menuntut kesetaraan dan pengakuan selayaknya budaya-budaya masyarakat Indonesia yang sudah lebih dulu ada dan dikenal di masyarakat Indonesia.

Abstract

This research has a title the Repertoire of Farmer’s Movement: a Study about the Opposition of Farmers against PTPN VII Unit Usaha Cinta Manis in the village of Rengas, the sub-district of Payamaran, the regency of Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera. This research focuses on the change of the movement and the relation of the effort’s goal achievement. The form of the opposition movement in Rengas is developing the repertoire of opposition movement and committing the change of the action to interacton be contention period. Through the analysis of periodical, this research can describe the progress from the fist process of the structure development and the expansion of the movement structure until the action of the movement structure’s change after the massive reclamation is committed. The method of this research uses qualitative approach of case studies and cause. This approach intends to rationalism, social reality, politic, and culture. Besides, the choosing of single case study method is research strategy that helps the researcher to investigate a program, phenomenon, activity, process, and individual group accurately. The case is limited by the time and the type where the researcher can accumulate the information completely and measurably.

Abstract

This paper outlines a role model for cleanliness preservation in community life in the Penglipuran village of Bali. Using a cultural approach, the Penglipuran village can raise the awareness of its citizens to participate in creating clean behavior. Along with the emergence of awareness of citizen participation, in the village of Penglipuran there are also local traditions that help guard the creation of clean behavior among its citizens. The existence of Penglipuran village which in 2018 has been named the third cleanest village in the world by bombastic magazine, is certainly interesting to study. To explore further roles of the Penglipuran village in preserving clean behavior, this research focuses on several questions: What is the cultural portrait of the Penglipuran community so that it is conducive to civilizing clean behavior? How do people participate in preserving cleanliness in the Penglipuran environment? What is the role of local actors in instilling a culture of clean behavior for their citizens? These three questions are analyzed with a sociological approach. As for the technique to obtain the data, this study uses empirical studies by observing and meeting several key informants and important informants to be interviewed. Tulisan ini menguraikan sebuah role model pelestarian kebersihan dalam kehidupan masyarakat yang ada di desa Penglipuran Bali. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan budaya, desa Penglipuran bisa membangkitkan kesadaran warganya untuk berpartisipasi dalam menciptakan perilaku bersih. Beririsan dengan munculnya kesadaran partisipasi warga, di desa Penglipuran juga terdapat tradisi lokal yang turut mengawal terciptanya perilaku bersih di kalangan warganya. Keberadaan desa Penglipuran yang pada tahun 2018 dinobatkan sebagai desa paling bersih ketiga di dunia oleh Bombastic Magazine, tentu menarik untuk diteliti. Untuk menelusuri lebih jauh bagaimana peran desa Penglipuran dalam melestarikan perilaku bersih, penelitian ini fokus pada beberapa pertanyaan: apa potret kultural masyarakat Penglipuran sehingga kondusif dalam membudayakan perilaku bersih? Bagaimana partisipasi warga dalam melestarikan kebersihan di lingkungan Penglipuran? Bagaimana peran aktor lokal dalam menanamkan budaya perilaku bersih bagi warganya? Ketiga pertanyaan ini dianalisis dengan pendekatan sosiologis. Adapun teknik untuk memperoleh datanya, penelitian ini menggunakan studi empiris dengan cara mengobservasi dan menemui beberapa informan kunci dan informan penting untuk diwawancarai.
