Abstract

This article describes the concept of civil society, which is more popular among the Muslims as Madani Society. The position of civil society is construct by the formation of various social institutions, particularly the non-government organizations. Non-Government Organization, which has autonomy and control of process’s government activities, is essential for the creation of Madani Society. Pluralism, Freedom of speech and expression, and control’s function are the important elements of democracy. It is apparent that there is a close connection between democracy and civil society. There will be no democracy without the development of civil society.

Abstract

This paper concerns on analyzing social media as a new means of consumption and its impact on Indonesian Muslim women's consumption of Islamicfashion. Several analytical frameworks such as consumption, identity construction, and postmodern society are used to analyzethe issue. The analysis is mostly basedon literature resources. The analysis concludes that social media, considered as a new means ofconsumption, impact the Indonesia Muslim women's consumption of Islamic fashion in twointerconnected ways: 1. it becomes a space for the construction of variousidealized standards of how a fashionable Muslim woman can look like, and 2. it influences the way Indonesian Muslim women construct and present theiridentity as fashionable Muslim women. Both of these form their consumption on Islamic fashion items.

Abstract

MasterCard Crescent Rating 2019 data shows Indonesia is the most popular halal tourist destination together with Malaysia. But on the other hand, in 2019 there was a rejection of Halal Tourism in several regions in Indonesia, namely Bali, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra and East Nusa Tenggara. This article tries to analyze why there is a rejection of halal tourism amid the growth of halal tourism in Indonesia. Is it more because of the recent strengthening of the wave of Islamism that has been mounted by practical political interests so that it presents its antithesis namely phobia as a form of cons of hegemony. So that the great potential of halal tourism itself is no longer seen as a great potential that can prosper anyone as a form of the universality of halal tourism. This analytical descriptive research with secondary data uses discourse analysis to answer the problem formulation with the concept of hegemony and identity politics. The conclusion of this article is that the rejection of halal tourism is significantly influenced by identity politics associated with political friction at the national and local level.Data MasterCard Crescent Rating 2019 menunjukkan Indonesia menjadi destinasi wisata halal terpopuler bersama Malaysia.

Abstract

Post-colonial theories bear two perspectives. First, Said argues that the ideological and concrete framework of ideology and colonial knowledge stands firmly, neatly, and perfectly without any crack that remains entrenched. Bhabha argues that the building of ideology and colonial knowledge full of cracks necessitates the creative opportunity of creating hybrid traditions and cultures that are not merely extensions of the colonial army, but also not the real bumiputera: ambiguity and ambivalence. This article, tracking the identity politics that construct a subculture with a particular lifestyle through the creation of Animal Pop Dance choreography. An Indonesian hip hop which is a hybridization process of hip hop grown in the United States by Africa-America is mixed with three local Indonesian dance (Javanese, Sundanese, Papuan) traditions of animal behavior. The results show Animal Pop Dance is a hybrid tradition and culture that aspires to escape from the grip of dichotomous thinking patterns in post-colonial contexts.Teori paska-kolonial melahirkan dua perspektif. Keywords: politic of identity, animal pop dance, subculture, lifestyle, hybrid

The exodus of East Timorese refugees after the 1999 referendum to Indonesia left a problem till now. International refugee affairs agencies, the Indonesian government, and non-governmental organizations have helped repatriate refugees. But many refugees do not want to return and choose to stay in Indonesia, among them they choose to stay in the border area in Sukabitetek Village, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. In a study through an ethnographic approach to the former East Timorese refugee community in the following Sukabitetek, it was explained about strengthening identity and social segregation in the interaction between former East Timorese refugees and local people. Resettlement policies for refugees that are top down and tend to pay less attention to the needs of refugees cause social problems, namely land access, economy and education, economic and political commodification, and social conflict.

Abstract

In 1966 was the beginning of New Order rezim. There was anyone who cannot argue that Moslem people had played an important role in bearing a new order. It was, therefore, natural that Moslem people have very extremely expected to manage this state with many more. This expectation was just imagination, because Suharto, as a leader of new order, did not give space adequately for them. Suharto exactly runs political of deislmatization systematically, in essential for marginalizing for Moslem people. The process reached the climax in 1985, in where the new order issued regulation setting that Pancasila (the fie basic principles of Republic of Indonesia) as a single principle, so this signed the death of Islam as political ideology in Indonesian history.

Abstract

There have been 1070 people convicted of terrorism untill 2016, some of them have been paid off the sentence. By the end of the sentence, it does not guarantee them not to involve into the same action. Some of them choose to join the radical group and others have repented and now live normally in the midst of society. This research aims to elaborate on the role of wife in the process of de-radicalization so that the husband would not be back involving into the same action. By using phenomenology approach, the result shows that, in two ex-terrorists families, the wives has important role to do deradicalization in their families so that their husband would not be back involving into terrorist act. The process of deradicalization has already begun when the husband is in prison, i.e. by visiting their husband regularly. In addition, the wives also try not to depend on their husband economically, this can immediately keep the husband from the group that he followed. This research conclude that the deradicalization based on family can be regarded as a more effective way to do deradicalization and it can be complementary the existing approach. Keyword: Deradicalization, Terrorism Convicted, Women, Prison
