Abstract

This research is written 1) to know whether or not short animation film improve the students' writing skill on narrative text and 2) to describe the class situation when short animation film is implemented in the writing class at the second semester students of English Department in the academic year of 2012/2013. The method used in this research was classroom action research. The research was conducted in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of four steps; planning, implementing, evaluation, and reflection. In collecting the qualitative data, the researcher used observation, questionnaires, interviews, and field notes. In collecting the quantitative data, the researcher used tests (pre-test and post-test). The qualitative data consists of five steps: assembling the data, coding, comparing, building interpretations, and finally reporting the outcomes. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were analyzed using a descriptive statistic technique. The research findings prove that animation movies could improve the students' writing skill of narrative text and the class situation. 1) The improvement of the students' writing skill included:  (a) The students got easy in exploring ideas in their writing, (b) They could produce the sentences with the better construction and minimize their mistake in English grammar, (c) They were able to use the appropriate word order and used the various words to express their ideas well, (d) They could state the ideas more clearly, organized the ideas better than previous result, used logical sequencing and produced text well in good cohesion and coherence, (e) They were able to demonstrate the convention and minimize the errors and mistakes of spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. 2) The improvement of class situation included: (a) The students focused seriously on their tasks, (b) They involved and participated actively during the lesson, (c) They became more confident in doing the activities during lesson, (d) They were more enthusiastic and were motivated in joining the writing class, (e) They were not getting bored or made noise but they looked happy in the writing class. The mean score had the advancement from the pre-test to the post-test 2.  In the pre-test the students got 65, while in the post test 1 they got 72 and in the post-test 2 they got 80.

Abstract

The problem of this research is “Can explicit instruction method improve the study result of CivicEducation about state institution of the sixth grade students in SDN 01 Suruh Tasikmadu Karanganyaremester II in the academic year fo 2014/2015.The purpose of this research is to improve the study result of Civic Education about stateinstitution of the sixth grade students in SDN 01 Suruh Tasikmadu Karanganyar semester II in theacademic year of 2014/2015.This research is Classroom Action Research with the subject of the sixth grade students in SDN 01Suruh Tasikmadu Karanganyar semester II in the academic year of 2014/2015. This grade consists of 23students. This classroom action reaserach was carried out for 3 months, from February until April 2015 in3 cycles. The data collecting method used is tes. Meanwhile, the data analysis in this research isqualitative descriptive technique of every cycle.From the data analysis can be concluded that the study result of Civic education about stateinstitution through explicit instruction method significantly improve.In the pre research, the average score is 67, while in cycle II is 74. Then, in cycle III is 82.Therefore, Using Explicit Instruction Method can improve the study result of Civic Education about stateinstitution of the sixth grade students in SDN 01 Suruh Tasikmadu Karanganyar emester II in theacademic year fo 2014/2015. Abstract

AbstractLearning science-based local wisdom in the elementary school is one effort to instill the value of local wisdom in children from an early age. Teachers are also required to improve the quality of learning through a variety of innovations, one of them through ethnoscience. Ethnoscience raised the culture and local wisdom to serve as an object of learning science so that makes learning more meaningful. This study aims to analyze the needs of students in learning science in elementary school. The analysis is used in designing learning models that can combine science and local wisdom values through ethnosciences. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling, with sample of 10 elementary school teachers in Banjarsari. Data were collected through literature study, documentation, and interview and analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded as follows: 1) The teacher can determine the local culture and sort the material to be integrated in the learning of science based on local culture, 2) Learning resources that can be used in learning ethnoscience is the environment, literature, audio visual, and internet, and 3) Teachers can use a variety of methods in learning ethnosciences.Keyword: Ethnoscience, Learning Quality, Local Wisdom. AbstrakPembelajaran sains berbasis kearifan lokal di SD merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menanamkan nilai kearifan lokal pada anak sejak dini. Guru juga dituntut untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran melalui berbagai macam inovasi salah satunya melalui etnosains. Etnosains mengangkat budaya dan kearifan lokal untuk dijadikan sebagai objek pembelajaran sains sehingga membuat pembelajaran lebih bermakna.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan siswa dalam belajar IPA di SD. Analisis tersebut digunakan dalam merancang model pembelajaran yang dapat memadukan antara sains dan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal melalui etnosains. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling, dengan sampel sebanyak 10 orang guru Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Banjarsari.  Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka, dokumentasi, dan wawancara serta dianalisis secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan, dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: 1) Guru dapat menentukan budaya lokal dan memilah materi yang akan diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran sains berbasis budaya lokal,  2) Sumber belajar yang yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran etnosains adalah lingkungan sekitar, literatur, audio visual, dan internet, dan 3) Guru dapat menggunakan berbagai macam metode dalam pembelajaran etnosainsKata kunci: Etnosains, Kualitas Pembelajaran, dan Kearifan Lokal

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe goals of the research are to find out: 1) the factors that might influence students’ motivation in class VIII-E of SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta in 2016/2017 academic years. 2) To motivate the students’ in learning English in class VIII-E of SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta in 2016/2017 academic years. This researcher used case study research (single case embedded design). This case study research was conducted in SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta on September until October 2016. Data collecting techniques were observation, interview, and documentation. The analysis data, the researcher got the data from interviewing students and teacher; and observing the teacher’s method while delivering the English material. The researcher used methodological triangulation to gain the validity of the data. The ARCS is one of using suitable ways can use by teacher and school to give a good motivation to students. In this research, the researcher found that students’ in class VIII-E of SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta in 2016/2017 academic years, came from various family background; which were: 11 students who came from unsupported family and 10 students who came from supported family in learning English. Both of students’ group needed motivation to learn English as the first foreign language in Indonesia. Base on the explanation, The ARCS can use as tools to increase the students’ motivation in learning English. So, the students would interest in teaching and learning process and  they could motivate themselves to be active in learning English. Keywords: Motivation, English Foreign Language, Case Study Research, ARCSmethod, ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi motivasi siswa di kelas VIII-E SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta pada tahun akademik 2016/2017. 2) Untuk memotivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris di kelas VIII-E SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta pada tahun akademik 2016/2017. Peneliti ini menggunakan penelitian studi kasus (desain kasus tunggal). Penelitian studi kasus ini dilakukan di SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta pada bulan September hingga Oktober 2016. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data, peneliti mendapatkan data dari mewawancarai siswa dan guru; dan mengamati metode guru saat menyampaikan materi bahasa Inggris. Peneliti menggunakan triangulasi metodologis untuk mendapatkan validitas data. ARCS adalah salah satu dari penggunaan cara yang sesuai yang dapat digunakan oleh guru dan sekolah untuk memberikan motivasi yang baik kepada siswa. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa di kelas VIII-E SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta pada tahun akademik 2016/2017, berasal dari berbagai latar belakang keluarga; yaitu: 11 siswa yang berasal dari keluarga yang tidak didukung dan 10 siswa yang berasal dari keluarga yang didukung dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Kedua kelompok siswa membutuhkan motivasi untuk belajar bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing pertama di Indonesia. Berdasarkan penjelasannya, ARCS dapat digunakan sebagai alat untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Abstract

Knowledge construction process forces people to chose thinking ability which be able toconnect knowledge content with real life. Social science learning is very complicated. It relateswith otentic and holistic real fenomenon. To realize good social science learning, learningparadigm growth, knowledge contruction undestanding are absolutely needed. Social sciencelearning needs strategies suitable with constructive prespective. It means learners constructthemselves to get many real and holistic knowledges. The skill to process knowledge is thinkingability in metacognitive dimension, critical, creative, thinking process and essencial thinkingprocess so that understanding how to connect knowledge content with real world be inreractiveconcepts. Abstract

 ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research are as follows:   1)to find out whether Semantic mapping can improve student’s reading comprehension at SMP N 7 Surakarta . 2 )To find out how semantic mapping can improve motivation student’s reading comprehension at SMPN 7 Surakarta at the eighth grade students especially class 8 C of SMP Negeri 7 Surakarta in the academic year of 2017/2018. In this research the researcher used qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method consisted  of  observation,  interview,and  documentation.  While  the  quantitative  method  was  the calculating the mean score of the pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2.   The result of this research showed that semantic mapping could improve the students’reading comprehension at the eighth grade students especially class 8 C of SMP Negeri 7 Surakarta. The improvement could be seen from the result of the test. The mean score of pre-test was 61,00, post-test 1 was 71,56 and post-test 2 was 80,06. Moreover, the result of t-test was 12,38 in cycle 1 and 15,49 in cycle 2. It meant that there was improvement in students’ reading comprehension.Keywords: Classroom Action Research, Students’Reading Comprehension, Semantic Mapping. ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) untuk mengetahui apakah pemetaan Semantic dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa di SMP N 7 Surakarta. 2) Untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemetaan semantik dapat meningkatkan motivasi pemahaman membaca siswa di SMPN 7 Surakarta pada siswa kelas delapan khususnya kelas 8 C SMP Negeri 7 Surakarta pada tahun akademik 2017/2018. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Metode kualitatif terdiri dari observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan metode kuantitatif adalah menghitung skor rata-rata pre-test, post-test 1, dan post-test 2. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemetaan semantik dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada siswa kelas delapan khususnya kelas 8 C SMP Negeri 7 Surakarta. Peningkatan itu bisa dilihat dari hasil tes. Nilai rata-rata pre-test adalah 61,00, post-test 1 adalah 71,56 dan post-test 2 adalah 80,06. Selain itu, hasil uji-t adalah 12,38 pada siklus 1 dan 15,49 pada siklus 2. Ini berarti bahwa ada peningkatan dalam pemahaman membaca siswa..Kata kunci: Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, Pemahaman Siswa, Pemetaan Semantik.

Abstract

The objective of this program are: 1) to apply the training of English that equivalenceTOEFL in increasing the teachers’ English skill at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Rawabening OKUTimur. 2) to give the learning experience of English for the teachers at SMK Muhammadiyah 2Rawabening OKU Timur. Whereas the participant of this program is the teachers of SMKMuhammadiyah 2 Rawabening OKU Timur, consisted of 17 people. The process of this programare by introduced between school board and the team of the program from STKIP Nurul HudaSukaraja, after that recognized the materials to the participants. And gave pretest to know theteachers’ skill before training and then did training around two weeks. Meanwhile, the materialsdevided into three basic skills, they are: Listening, Structure and Written Expression, andReading Comprehension. After finishing the process for the teachers gave the posttest toinvestigate whether or not there will be increasing result when it is compared to the result gainedby the teachers in pretest. Based on the result of this program, there are some significances,namely: 1) it can measure the teachers’ English skill at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 RawabeningOKU Timur. 2) it is as a motivation in increasing the teachers’ English skill at SMKMuhammadiyah 2 Rawabening OKU Timur.Key Words: 1) English , 2) Equivalence, and 3) TOEFL

Abstract

This community service aims (1). Providing a scientific basis for elementary school teachers in implementing learning that is oriented towards active, effective and enjoyable learning. (2). Provide theoretical clarity and a better understanding of learning, learning objects and the situations and conditions of learning in elementary schools. (3). Contribute ideas to education managers in an effort to improve teacher professional competency and learner ability in elementary schools, especially at SD Kestalan Surakarta. Community service is carried out in an effort to deliver competence in terms of Integrative Thematic Learning Intensity through Scientific Approach at Kestalan Elementary School Surakarta as a partner school in the Surakarta Teacher Training and Education Faculty, followed by 26 teachers and Principals with a 6-hour implementation period, starting at 8:00 p.m. until 15:00 p.m. The outcome of this community service is that community service resulted in the delivery of material on the Scientific approach to integrative thematic learning in Primary Schools in an effort to optimize teacher understanding and implementation in primary schools in general and SD Kestalan Surakarta in particular. The expected results from the implementation of this service can provide an understanding of the Intensity of Integrative Thematic Learning through the Scientific Approach in Primary Schools. So Kestalan Surakarta Elementary School teachers have 90 percent of the ability to Integrative Thematic Learning through the Scientific Approach in Primary Schools. So that the teachers can transmit their understanding to fellow teachers in the Dabin and Gugus areas as well as primary school teacher meetings. Abstract

The research aimed to determine the role, function and benefits for students in learning English by using E-learning at Darwan Ali University. This type of research is descriptive using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews, literature studies, documentation, and observation. The results showed that 1) E-learning at Darwan Ali University has a role for the lecture plan facilities in the process of learning English. 2) E-Learning makes it easy for students to understand learning process because it makes students more interested and can be accessed anytime and anywhere as long as there is internet access. 3) Students can get learning materials in various forms such as text, images and videos. 4) Students' abilities are developed in learning English such as vocabularies, writing and reading. 5) Students become more active and enthusiastic in the learning process.Keywords: E-learning; information and technology; English language.ABSTRAKPenelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran,fungsi serta manfaat bagi mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan E-learning di Universitas Darwan Ali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) E-learning di Universitas Darwan Ali Sampit memiliki peran untuk fasilitas rencana perkuliahan dalam proses belajar bahasa Inggris. 2) E-Learning memudahkan mahasiwa dalam memahami pembelajaran karena membuat mahasiswa lebih tertarik dan bisa diakses kapanpun dan dimanapun selama ada akses internet. 3) Mahasiswa bisa mendapatkan materi dan bahan pembelajaran dalam berbagai bentuk seperti teks, gambar, dan video. 4) kemampuan mahasiswa berkembang dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris seperti kosa kata, menulis dan membaca. 5) Mahasiswa menjadi  lebih aktif dan antusias dalam proses pembelajaran.Kata kunci: E-learning; Teknologi Informasi; Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) whether the scientific attitude has a positivecontribution toward student’s achievement. (2) whether the environmental care attitude has apositive contribution toward student’s achievement. (3) both of the scientific attitude and theenvironmental care attitude have a positive contribution toward student’s achievement. Theprimary data on this research obtained from the questionnaire. The analysis technique using avalidity test, regression analysis, t test, F test, the coefficient of determination test and analysis ofclassical assumptions. The t-test results on the first equation can be concluded that the scientificattitude variables contribute positively and significantly toward student’s achievement. Testresults t-test in the second equation can be concluded that environmental care attitude variablescontribute positively and significantly toward student’s achievement. The t-test results in the thirdequation can be concluded that the scientific attitude and enviromental care attitude contributepostively and significantly toward student’s achievement. The F test results can be concludedboth of scientific attitude and environmental care attitude contributes toward natural sciencelearning achievement on collage students; primary teacher education slamet riyadi surakartauniversity academic year 2014/2015. The result of R2 value is 0.486, it’s mean the totalproportion of variables influence the scientific attitude and a environmental care attitude towardsthe environment variable learning achievement is 48.6%. While the remaining 51.4% (100% -48.6%) influenced by other variables. Classical assumption test results of multiple linearregression can be termed as a good model because the model to meet the assumptions ofnormality and free from classical assumptions.Keywords: Scientific Attitude, Attitude Environmental Care, Learning Achievement
