Abstract

Non-linear load in the distribution system has caused negative impact to its power quality especially on harmonic distortion. Charging Station (CS) is a non-linear load that widely promoted with the aim to support the continuous usage of Electric Vehicle (EV). This research is focusing on optimal placement and sizing of multiple passive filter to mitigate harmonic distortion due to CS usage at distribution system. There are 6 units of CS which being placed in low voltage buses which indirectly will inject harmonic to the system during charging. Power system harmonic flow, passive filter, CS, battery and the analysis will be model in MATLAB. Multi-objective function which are weight summation approach (WSA) and Pareto Front are used to assist meta heuristic technique which is Modified Lightning Search Algorithm (MLSA) to identify optimum location and sizing of passive filter based on improvement on propose five parameters. From the result, the optimal placements and sizing of passive filter able to reduce the maximum Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) for voltage, current and apparent losses respectively. Therefore, the propose method is suitable to reduce harmonic distortion as well as apparent losses at distribution system with present of CS.

Abstract

Group development is an initial step and an important influence on learning collaborative problem solving (CPS) based on the digital learning environment (DLE). Group development based on the Myers-Briggs types indicators (MBTI) rule proved successful for the educational and industrial environment. The MBTI ideal group rules are reached when a group leader has the highest level of leadership and compatibility between group members. The level of leadership and suitability of group members is determined based on the MBTI learning style (LS). Problems arise when the population of MBTI LS with the highest level of leadership is over. This will lead to dual leadership problems and have an impact on group disharmony. This study proposes an intelligent agent software for the development of the ideal group of MBTI, using the Fuzzy algorithm. The intelligent agent was developed on the SKACI platform. SKACI is a DLE for CPS learning. Fuzzy algorithm for solving dual leadership problems in a group. Fuzzy algorithm is used to increase the population of MBTI LS to 3 levels, namely low, medium and high. Increasing the population of MBTI LS can increase the probability of forming an ideal group of MBTI. Intelligent agents are tested based on a quantitative analysis between experimental classes (applying intelligent agents), and control classes (without intelligent agents). Experiment results show an increase in performance and productivity is better in the experimental class than in the control class. It was concluded that the development of intelligent agents had a positive impact on group development based on the MBTI LS.

Abstract

This work evaluated the performance of International Telecommunication Union-Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) P.837-6 and P.837-7 models (Annex 1) to estimate one-minute rainfall rates in Indonesia. In addition to the default ITU-R P.837-6, the input of ITU-R P.837-6 is also modified using data which has better spatial resolution, i.e. a combination of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 3A25 and 3B43 (ITU-R+3A25+3B43), 3B42 and 3B43 (ITU-R+3B42+3B43), Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (ITU-R+GSMaP), and Global Precipitation Measurement (ITU-R+GPM). Among the five test sites, the default ITU-R P.837-6 and ITU-R+3A25+3B43 could predict one-minute rainfall rates at two locations accurately. The ITU-R P.837-7 exhibited a marginally better performance for sites that had a high percentage of very heavy rain, particularly at large (1%) and small (0.001%) percentages of time exceeded. The spatial distribution of rainfall rate produced by ITU-R P.837-7 and ITU-R+3A25+3B43 was closer to the pattern demonstrated by recent satellite precipitation measurements.

Abstract

This paper presents the modeling and control of the excitation system via the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) and governor system through the automatic generation control (AGC) or frequency load control (FLC) to improve stability on a micro hydro power plant (MHPP). Three main parts of the generation system are synchronous generator, AVR-excitation, AGC modelled linearly. Generator is modelled by a single machine connected to infinite bus (SMIB) which is equipped by AVR and excitation linear model. Excitation control system made by optimizing the gain of the AVR (KA) and the governor with the gain of the AGC (Ki). Optimization is done using the method improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO). The main purpose of setting the gain of the AVR-AGC is to stabilize the oscillation frequency of the MHPP which is connected to an infinite bus. Simulations are conducted by inputting step function with 5% load fluctuations as a representation of dynamic load. The simulation results show that the proposed method effectively raises the level  of electromechanical damping oscillations the SMIB by generating the comprehensive damping index (CDI) is minimum.

Abstract

The previous methods of cascaded multilevel inverter (CMLI) can improve power quality but the methods have low voltage output if the DC voltages limited by the voltage rating of power semiconductor. To improve the amplitude of CMLI output voltage, this paper proposes a new DC voltage progression. The progression based on sine quantization method (SQM), which determines a sequence of DC voltages from discrete amplitudes of sine wave function. The method also collaborates with step equal residual area method (SERAM) to minimized total harmonics distortions (THD). A single-phase CMLI that consist four H-Bridges simulated and implemented to verify the methods. Amplitude output voltage and THD results of simulations and experiments indicate that the sine quantization progression produce the highest output voltage than other DC voltage progressions, with power quality or THD in the accepted region. The amplitude of output voltage have linier function with amplitude equal 0.6665 times of H-Bridges numbers and have exponential function of THD with value below 5%.

Abstract

With the bursting development of computer science and the hardware technology, Internet of Things and wireless sensor networks has been popularly studied in the community of engineering. Under the environment of Internet of Things, we carry out theoretical analysis and numerical simulation on the sensor network spectrum detection technology based on cognitive radio network. As a means of information and intelligence, information service system is an important research hotspot in the field of Internet of things. Wireless sensor network is composed of a large number of micro sensor nodes, which have the function of information collection, data processing, and wireless communication, characterized by the integration of wireless self-organization. However, most of the methodologies proposed by the other institutes are suffering form the high complexity while with the high time-consuming when processing information. Therefore, this study is to assess the economic feasibility of using the optimized multipath protocol availability and the increased bandwidth and several mobile operators through the use of cost-benefit analysis, single path selection model is to develop more path agreement to achieve better performance. To test the robustness, we compare our method with the other state-of-the-art approach in the simulation section and proves the effectiveness of our methodology. The experimental result reflected that our approach could achieve higher accuracy with low time-consuming when dealing with complex sources of information.

Abstract

News curators in twitter are a user, which is interested in following, spreading, giving feedback of recent popular articles. There are two kinds of this user, news curator as human user and news aggregator as bot user. In prior works about news curator, the classification system built using followers, URL, mention and retweet feature. However, there are limited prior works for classifiying Indonesian News Curator in twitter and still hard for labelling data involve just two features: followers and URL. In this paper, we proposed a framework for classifying Indonesian news curator in twitter using Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) and added features such as location, bio profile, and common tweet. Another purpose for analysing the influential features of certain class, so its make easier for labelling data of this role in the future. Examination result using percentage split as evaluating system produced 87% accuracy. The most influential features for news curator are followers, bio profile, mention and retweet. For news aggregator class are followers, location, and URL. The rest just common tweet feature for not both class. We implemented Feature Subset Selection (FSS) for increasing system performance and avoiding the over fitting data, it has produced 92.90% accuracy.

Abstract

In mobile ad hoc networks, route selection is one of the most important issues that is studied in these networks as a field of research. Many articles trying to provide solutions to choose the best path in which the important parameters such as power consumption, bandwidth and mobility are used. In this article, in order to improve the solutions presented in recent papers parameters such as power remaining, mobility, degree node and available bandwidth are used by taking the factors for each parameter in proportion to its influence in choosing the best path. Finally, we compare the proposed solution with the three protocols IAOMDV-F, AODVFART and FLM-AODV with the help of OPNET simulation program based on network throughput, routing discovery time, the average number of hops per route, network delay.
