Abstract

Marital readiness, particularly in young adults, is an important aspect that will determine success in building a relationship with their spouse in the future. This study aimed to explore the key factors affecting marital readiness among university students. Critical factors included in this study design are age, family life preparation programs, emotional intelligence, and family life knowledge. A quantitative explanatory study with 120 university students in Jakarta Province as participants was conducted. Questionnaires consist of demographic data, family life knowledge, emotional intelligence, and marital readiness were used to collect the data. The data were then analyzed using PLS-SEM to determine the effect of the key factors on marital readiness. The results show that marital readiness is significantly influenced by age, involvement in family life preparation programs, family life knowledge, and emotional intelligence. Therefore, participating in family life preparation programs will enhance knowledge about preparing for family life, which will then increase marital readiness. Also, marital readiness will increase when university students have higher emotional intelligence and age.

Abstract

Visual spatial abilities are essential in academic and everyday life. This study aimed to determine the impact of traditional game cengkling on early childhood visual spatial abilities. A quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design was applied with 18 participants evenly divided into experimental and control groups. Participants in the experiment group were given traditional game cengkling with a modification on the visual spatial system such as visual perception, color perception, and space. A visual ability scale was used to collect the data both in pretest and posttest. Data were then analyzed with the independent sample t-test and the paired sample t-test. The results show a significant difference in visual spatial abilities on pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group. Whereas in the control group, no significant difference in visual spatial abilities was found. It can be concluded that the traditional game cengkling stimulates visual spatial abilities in early childhood.

Abstract

Partisans are more likely to be motivated by a desire to justify their political opinion which is called as confirmation bias. This research aimed to investigate the determinant factors of confirmation bias among college students who actively obtained political information in social media. All participants were associated with a student organization of particular political ideologies. The determinant factors of confirmation bias under investigation were critical thinking, consisting of two dimensions-i.e., critical openness and reflective skepticism; authoritarian personality; collective entitlement; and political preference. A confirmation bias scale pertaining to media reporting was specifically constructed for the purpose of this study. The measurement of critical thinking, authoritarian personality, and collective entitlement utilized existing instruments. The sample in this study was 95 students with various political ideologies. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted to analyze the data. The current study results demonstrated that critical openness, collective entitlement, and authoritarian personality were predictors of confirmation bias. Meanwhile, reflective skepticism and political preference were not significant predictors. The findings could be the building blocks for developing an intervention to increase digital citizenship awareness by open-mindedness to reduce confirmation bias among social media users

Abstract

Digital literacy capability is a must in the era of internet access, especially in the use of social media. All internet users, especially university students, must practice digital literacy. This study aims to found the common forms of university students' digital literacy behavior when using social media. This study uses a mixed-method approach as it consists of data search using a digital literacy scale, an open-ended questionnaire, and interviews with university students in Yogyakarta. The results of this study indicate that respondents with high digital literacy levels conduct a process of evaluating truthful information by checking trusted sources of information directly and discussing their findings with significant others. The likelihood and ability to evaluate information correctly is affected by family background, formal education, and negative hoax impact awareness. The study also found that after respondents perform across (double) checks, they will usually forward the information, also known as doing a repost. This research implies a description of digital literacy behavior carried out by students in Yogyakarta; with this study, digital literacy behavior expects to provide an overview of information technology policymakers.

Abstract

Work stress is a widespread issue among various kinds of employees because of its negative impact. This study aimed to determine the role of work-life balance toward work stress experienced by aircraft maintenance technicians. A total of ninety-two aircraft maintenance technicians participated in this quantitative approach using scales as the research instrument. The data were collected and then analyzed using multiple linear regression methods. The results showed that three dimensions of work-life balance, namely WIPL, PLIW, and WPLE, have a significant simultaneous role on work stress with an effective contribution of 56.5%. Partially, WIPL and PLIW significantly have a positive role on work stress with a contribution of 40.7% and 12.19%, whereas WPLE does not have a significant role on work stress. This study implies that a low level of WIPL and PLIW will reduce work stress levels in aircraft maintenance technicians and vice versa. Therefore, organizations can support aircraft maintenance technicians in managing work-life balance to maintain work stress levels.
