Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the influential factors of blood pressure. Design of this study was a cross-sectional study. Study was conducted in Bogor, West Java. Criteria’s sample were men, age above 30 years, work as a driver of the public transportation which the routes are Kampus Dalam and Leuwiliang and had been works for more than 2 years. Total sample for this study were 30 people. The result of multiple regression test showed that there were three influential factors of blood pressure. The first factor is family size. Reduction of one family member will raise the systole as high as 2.103 mmHg and diastolic for 1.396 mmHg. The second factor was age. Increasing one year of age will raise the systole for 0.369 mmHg and the diastolic for 0.283 mmHg. The last one was nutritional status. Increasing one unit of BMI will raise the systole for 1.148 mmHg and the diastolic for 1.211 mmHg.

Abstract

The objective of this study were to analyze the patterns of food consumption, physical activity, history of disease, family history of dementia, and incidence of dementia in elderly in Werdha Tresna, nursing home, Bogor. Research design was cross sectional study with 42 elderly as subjects. The results showed that there were significant correlation between the level of education, adequacy of level vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, history of diabetes and physical activity with incidence of dementia in elderly (p<0.05). There were no significant correlation between age, adequacy of level folic acid, history of hypertension, and family history of dementia with incidence of dementia in elderly (p>0.05).

Abstract

The general objective of the study is to determine relationship between parenting style and teenase delinquency. The study was conducted among senior high school children in Central Jakarta. There were 306 teenagers served as respondents of this study. Results of the study showed that internal reliability of teenage delinquency measurement was 0.9 which indicates that the tools was very good in assessing teenage delinquency. Finding showed is that family characteristics such as fathers educational attainments is negatively correlated to teenage delinquency, while family size is positively correlated to teenage delinquency.Parenting style which is indicated as otoritarian, permissive and democratize also correlated to teenage delinquency. Positive and significant relatinnship (Ą=0.05) was estabilished between permissive parenting style and teenage delinquency. On the other hnad, the democratize parenting style is negative and significantly (Ą=0.01) related to teenage delinquency. Therefore, parents were and encouraged to apply democratize parenting style to help reduce teenage delinquency among senior high school children.

Abstract

Academic achievement as one of learning outcome indicator in adolescents influenced by the self and family environment factors. This study was aimed to analyze the effect of child characteristics, family characteristics, parenting style perceived by adolescents, self-efficacy and self regulated learning on adolescents academic achievement. The study used self report method which involved 91 eighth grade students from two junior high schools in Bogor. Data analysis included descriptive analysis and inference analysis (correlation test and linier regression test). Result showed that majority of samples perceived their parent as authoritative (86.8%) followed by authoritarian (11.0%) and permissive (2.2%). The result also showed that majority of samples had medium level in self-efficacy and self regulated learning. More than a half of samples had under average level in academic achievement. Correlation results showed that there were significant and positive relationship between authoritarian parenting style with birth order, family size as well as gender. Self regulated learning were significantly and positively related with authoritative parenting style (r=0.257, p-value<0.05) and self-efficacy (r=0.330, p-value<0.01). Meanwhile, regression results showed a positive effect of academic achievement on father's education (β=0.315, p-value=0.006) and authoritative parenting styles (β=0.259, p-value=0.014), as well as negatively on gender (β=-0.267, p-value=0.014) and permissive parenting style (β=-0.203, p-value=0.039).

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze child’s perception on parenting style, level of emotional intelligence and academic achievement of high school students at SMA 3 Sukabumi. Results showed that more than 60 percent student perceived that parenting style is classified as emotional coach. In general level of EQ of the students classified as moderate (62.8%) while the rest classified as high. There was significant difference in term of duration of student activities based on classes (IPA or IPS) while by gender there was not significance. Academic achievement of girls was significantly higher than boys, also their motor achievement. Parenting style of the parent was significantly correlated with EQ of student, particularly in term of emotional awareness, self motivation, social relationship, and total EQ. In line with this total EQ and social relationship have positive and significant correlation with cognitive achievement, while empathy, social relationship and total EQ also have significant associations with motor achievement. Only self motivation was significantly related to attitude of students.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to know characteristics of family and child who come from family whose working mother and unworking mother; to analyze the differences of breastfeeding and psychosocial stimulation between two groups; to analyze the correlation between characteristics family and child, with breastfeeding and psychosocial stimulation; and to analyze the impact of breastfeeding and psychosocial stimulation toward child’s social-emotion development. A cross sectional design was applied in this research. This research represented the part of Yuliati’s (2006) research which entitled “Study of behavior buying and consuming milk for 2-5 years old of child and impact to child’s growth and development”. Population in this research represented sample from Yuliati’s research that were selected by purposive with criteria 3,5-5 years old of children who come from family whose working mother and unworking mother. The result showed that there were not significant differences between characteristics of family and child, duration of breastfeeding and psychosocial stimulation between two groups. Correlation test of Rank Spearman showed that only father’s education and family’s income that had significantly negative correlation with duration of breastfeeding. Meanwhile, father’s education, mother’s education, family’s income and mother’s knowledge about child’s growth and development significantly had positive correlation with psychosocial stimulation. Based on gender, girl significantly had higher psychosocial stimulation than buy. Psychosocial stimulation and child’s age were dominant factor in influencing child’s social-emotion development, while duration of breastfeeding was not influencing.

Abstract

Emotional intelligent as one aspect of human resources is very important to achieve successful living of individual and society. It is a learned behavior that transferred to individual from social environment from early childhood to old ages through socialization within family and out side the family. Facts show that in Indonesia especially in urban area many adolescent high school boys and girls have limited emotional intelligent. The objective of the study is to analyze the effect of parenting, school environment, and role of peer group to adolescent emotional intelligent. The study was carried out in Bogor Municipality. Two hundred samples consisted of 100 students enrolled in senior high school and their parents, especially mother, respectively were drawn using stratified random sampling method with school performance quality as stratification criteria. Data were collected through interviews and self reporting. Descriptive statistics and multiple regressions were used to analyze the data. Results showed that father education attainment and age of mother affect emotional parenting type. Emotional parenting type, school discipline, emotional learning offered in school curriculum, and role of peer group as social comparison learning affect adolescent emotional intelligent significantly

Abstract

Academic achievement is influenced by many factors such as internal factor and external factor. Internal factors in this research is a factor that can be used to learn. Meanwhile, the external factor of the adolescent involved is the factor of the family in the form of parenting style that implements the parents. This study aims to analyze the nurturing style, motivation, and strategies in learning against adolescent achievement. The data were collected using a questionnaire technique involving 149 VIII students from two State Junior High Schools in Bogor. The results found that about nine of the adolescents perceived the authoritative parenting style (89,3%). The results of the study also found that more than half of adolescents had moderate motivation categories (53,0%) with broader motivation. Seven of the adolescents had a low learning strategy (72,3%) and a fairly well-done dimension was the regulatory effort. The academic achievement of adolescents is almost entirely (95,3%) is categorized well. Multiple linear regression models show that the duration of mother education and authoritarian parenting style have a significant negative effect on academic achievement. Meanwhile, the mother's authoritative parenting style and self-determination strategy in learning have a significant positive effect on academic achievement.

Abstract

The new challenges for first-year students potentially to influence their academic achievement. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of students and families, parental support, academic emotions, and learning strategies and their effects on the academic achievement of first-year students. Determination of research location by purposive at Institut Pertanian Bogor. An example of this study is a total of 110 students of the Program Pendidikan Kompetensi Umum (PPKU) selected by simple random sampling. The results found that parental support related to emotional and instrumental aspects, positive and negative academic emotions were significantly correlated with the use of learning strategies. The dimension of learning strategy that is time and environment management and effort learning correlated on academic achievement.

Abstract

Academic achievement is affected by external and internal factors. This study generally aims to examine the influence of family characteristics (per capita income and parental education), individual characteristics (age and gender), cognitive intelligence, and self-regulated learning toward academic achievement in adolescents. A total of 91 samples (Mage=13.9 years) with the largest percentage of the respondents were women were selected from two different junior high schools in Bogor area. Cognitive intelligence, self-regulated learning, and academic achievement were measured using Riley Inventory Basic of Learning Skills (RIBLS), Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSQL), and student academic record, respectively. The partial regression analysis showed there was a negative effect of mother’s education on self-regulated learning. Gender was found to positively predicted cognitive intelligence. The regression analysis also showed that parental education and cognitive intelligence positively predicted adolescent academic achievement. Per capita income, gender, and self-regulated learning showed no significant effects on academic achievement.
