Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the dimensions of forgiveness (avoidance motivation, revenge motivation, and benevolence motivation) and childhood emotional wounds in early adulthood from the perspective of motivational theories of forgiveness. Although previous research has demonstrated that forgiveness is associated with psychological well-being, the multidimensional mechanisms linking each dimension of forgiveness to childhood emotional wounds remain insufficiently understood. This study employed a quantitative correlational design involving 234 early-adulthood university students (M = 20.87; SD = 1.42; 78.6% female). Data were collected using validated Likert-scale psychological instruments and analyzed using Pearson product–moment correlation. The results indicated that avoidance motivation (r = -0.232; p < 0.001) and revenge motivation (r = -0.304; p < 0.001) were significantly negatively associated with childhood emotional wounds, whereas benevolence motivation showed no significant relationship (r = -0.028; p = 0.670). These findings suggest that reductions in childhood emotional wounds are more closely associated with decreases in negative motivations rather than increases in benevolent intentions toward others. Theoretically, the results reinforce the view that forgiveness is a multidimensional emotion regulation process rather than merely a prosocial orientation. Practically, emotion regulation-based interventions such as mindfulness and cognitive restructuring may be utilized to reduce avoidance and revenge motivations among individuals with past emotional wounds.

Abstract

Moral resilience is a critical aspect of adolescent development, particularly within vocational education contexts characterized by substantial social and professional pressures. However, the psychological mechanisms explaining the role of religious awareness in fostering moral resilience remain underexplored. This study aimed to examine the relationship between religious awareness and moral resilience among vocational high school students. This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional correlational design as a preliminary investigation. A total of 26 students (M age = 16.50, SD = 0.85) from a single class at Al-Ishlah Vocational High School, Palangka Raya, Indonesia, participated using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between religious awareness and moral resilience (r = .769, p < .001). Regression analysis indicated that religious awareness significantly predicted moral resilience (R² = .592, p < .001). Religious awareness plays an important psychological role in shaping students’ moral resilience. The findings support the perspective that the internalization of religious values contributes to moral regulation within vocational adolescent contexts.

Abstract

Student adaptation during the early transition to higher education is a critical aspect closely related to academic success, social functioning, and psychological well-being. Based on Self-Regulation Theory and the Theory of Student Adjustment, self-control is conceptualized as a key psychological factor that contributes to successful student adaptation. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-control and college adjustment among first-year psychology students at Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design was employed. A total of 98 first-semester students participated in the study and were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Self-Control Scale and a Student Adjustment Scale with established validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between self-control and student adjustment, r(96) = 0.772, p < 0.001. These findings indicate that students with higher levels of self-control tend to demonstrate better adaptation in dealing with academic, social, personal-emotional, and institutional demands during the transition to university. This study provides empirical support for the role of self-regulation in student adjustment processes and highlights the importance of developing self-control enhancement programs to support successful adaptation among first-year university students.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between job crafting and work engagement among employees at Bina Kasih General Hospital based on the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Theory. Although previous research has demonstrated a positive association between job crafting and work engagement, the underlying empirical evidence remains limited, particularly in healthcare contexts in developing countries. A total of N = 122 hospital employees participated in this study using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Job Crafting Scale based on the Tims and Bakker model and the Work Engagement Scale based on the Schaufeli and Bakker framework. Both instruments showed good internal consistency (α = 0.920 for job crafting; α = 0.849 for work engagement). Data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation via IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between job crafting and work engagement (r = 0.735, p < .001), indicating that employees who actively modify and optimize their work tend to demonstrate higher levels of work engagement. These findings contribute to the extension of the JD-R model and provide practical implications for enhancing employee engagement in hospital settings through the promotion of job crafting behaviors.

Abstract

Peer conformity is considered a key social factor that may contribute to students’ tendencies to adopt a hedonistic lifestyle. Despite increasing concerns regarding hedonistic behaviors among university students, empirical research examining the role of peer conformity within the Indonesian higher education context remains limited. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between peer conformity and hedonistic lifestyle tendencies among university students. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 243 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Psychology at a university in Indonesia, selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale instruments measuring peer conformity and hedonistic lifestyle tendencies. The results of Pearson correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between peer conformity and hedonistic lifestyle tendencies (r = 0.571, p < 0.001). These findings suggest that higher levels of peer conformity are associated with stronger tendencies toward a hedonistic lifestyle. The study contributes to social psychological literature by emphasizing the role of peer dynamics in shaping lifestyle behaviors during emerging adulthood. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of developing educational interventions and peer influence management programs to promote healthier lifestyle choices and psychological well-being among university students.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between Job Demands and Workplace Well-Being among nurses at RSU Bina Kasih Medan based on the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Theory framework. This correlational quantitative study involved 121 nurses selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using validated and reliable Job Demands and Workplace Well-Being scales and analyzed using Pearson Product–Moment correlation analysis. The results revealed a very strong and statistically significant negative relationship between Job Demands and Workplace Well-Being (r = −.915, p < .001, 95% CI [−.94, −.88]). These findings indicate that higher levels of job demands are closely associated with lower levels of nurses’ workplace well-being. Furthermore, Job Demands explained 83.7% of the variance in Workplace Well-Being (r² = .837), indicating a substantial contribution of job demands to workplace well-being. These findings support the JD-R Theory, which posits that high job demands may deplete individuals’ psychological resources and reduce well-being when not adequately balanced by sufficient job resources. This study contributes empirical evidence to the literature on workplace well-being in the healthcare sector, particularly in the context of Indonesian nurses, and underscores the importance of effective workload management in enhancing well-being in hospital settings.
