Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe about the chance to teach Indonesian language as a foreign language in higher institutions in Timor Leste and the motivation of the students in learning Indonesian language. Timor Leste people use Indonesian language as a working language and as a teaching language in some educational institution. This study is a descriptive qualitative research and uses questionnaire to gather the data. The respondent of this study are 11 Timorese students who study in higher education. The data shows that not all universities have Indonesian language course but they use Indonesian language as a teaching language in their institutions. On contrary, almost all senior high school in Timor Leste have Indonesian language course in their curriculum. The position of Indonesian language in Timor Leste als influences the motivation of the students to learn Indonesian language. Suggestions for further research and related institutions are provided.

Abstract

Transaction theory is an idea approach of literature teaching developed by Louise Michelle Rosenblatt. This Theory was recommended to be use at students whose age 4-12 year or elementary school level, but it can be used for higher level. Transaction theory portray the existence of interrelationship (reciprocal) between art text and student. Assumption of transaction theory in literature teaching is meaning of literature is created by reading activity, student's early respons have to consider, class atmosphere has to co-operative, related to daily life, and linkage with other literatures.

Abstract

Bahasa jurnalistik dalam media cetak khususnya tabloid merupakan wujud bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi dalam bentuk tulis. Bahasa tabloid menggunakan ragam bahasa jurnalistik. Tabloid Nova  merupakan salah satu wujud nyata dari fungsi bahasa yang dipakai dalam media cetak. Kalimat serta kosakata yang digunakan dalam artikel media cetak dalam tabloid Nova dianalisis melalui  kajian semantik jurnalistik. Kajian semantik jurnalistik dalam tabloid Nova memperoleh tujuh jenis perubahan makna dan menemukan sebelas faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya perubahan makna.

Abstract

Background of this research was student do not pay attention to politeness anymore. Each of them just showed their emotions rather than etiquette in language. Moreover, the main key of etiquette is can communicate properly to the hearer and behave politely while discussion is going on. Interruption is permitted in discussion if students are aware of etiquette behavior. Purpose of this research was: (1) to describe the form of polite and impolite utterance in discussion activity based on student politeness principal active years 2016, 3 – years diploma of Solok Nursing Program Study Health Ministry Padang, and (2) to describe the politeness and impoliteness language sign. Type of this research was qualitative research by using descriptive method. There was no change in data of this research to make any symptoms or any certain aspect appear. Techniques of collecting data were: (1) observation and recording, and (2) field record. Data analyzing was conducted by using observation, recording and interview techniques. This stage would show the result of realization in politeness of language and also the deviation form of maxim politeness. There were 15 cooperative principles by Leech, 6 utterances were categorized as tact maxim, 4 utterances were categorized as generosity maxim, 3 utterances were categorized as approbation maxim, and 2 utterances were categorized as agreement maxim.

Abstract

Textbooks that support learning Creative Critical Reading courses are still very minimal. It certainly affects the ability of students to understand reading skills. Students have limited ability to understand the theory due to the limitations of reverence. One effort that can be done is to develop textbooks. Textbooks should be able to motivate students. One effort that can be done is by developing ARCS-based teaching book (Attention, Relevance, Convidence, Satisfaction). This article aims to comply with ARCS-based teaching-learning techniques. Creation of Creative Critical Reading books with ARCS contains four components: awakening and attention to students' attention during learning (Attention), using subject matter that is relevant to the student's life (Relevance), instilling confidence, and cultivating a sense of satisfaction on students to learning (Satisfaction). The expected result in this research is the creation of ARCS-based critical and creative reading book (Attention, Relevance, Convidence, Satisfaction) for Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program students.

Abstract

The research intents on describing and explaining the honorifics forms of Samawa language and their use effect factors. The conducted method is case study. Source of data is native speaker of Samawa language in Sumbawa by purposive sampling. Data collection is conducted by in-depth interview with the informants. Data is analysed by interactive model. Furthermore, research findings present that (1) honorific forms of Samawa language is classified by two, they are referent honorific (first person pronoun, second person pronoun, and third person pronoun) and hearer honorific (family relation, professional relation, title, marital status, and general greeting nominal); (2) factor that affects the honorific use of Samawa language contains of power (sex, age, position in the family, occupation, position in an institution, marital status, and education), distance (solidarity, familiarity, and affect), and formality (purpose and setting).

Abstract

AbstrakThis study aims (1) to describe localized, illocutionary, and student-speaking acts of speech acts against teachers in thematic learning at Klegen 02 Madiun. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method that leads to a description of the actual conditions in the field and then described in the text. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are 1) locus speech acts in thematic learning conducted by teachers and students as well as students to the teacher is good enough. The intensity is not often on the grounds that children are accustomed to convey something without any other purpose, 2) the acts of students' illocutionary acts of speech occur in the form of assertive, directive, and expressive speech acts, 3) acts of speech acts are performed to influence others.

Abstract

Reading skill of Indonesian people was very low included our students. By reading, someone not only got knowledge, but also influenced one’s character. Lecturing Critical and Creative Reading Of Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PBSI) Students Oriented In Character Education To Describe Character education model that integrated in lecturing and giving activity of critical and creatif reading. Reaserch method used qualitative descriptive. This article discussed two cases; (i) character education model that integrated in lecturing critical and creative reading, (ii) giving students’ activity of critical and creative reading. Research result of character education model can be observed by; a. Reading organization, b.Writen purpose, c. How to solve problem, d. Logicallity that be writer in article and, f. Comparing between text and the real fact.

Abstract

Penggunaan teori kritis sebagai alat pengkajian dalam penelitian ini disebabkan oleh adanya persoalan tentang penumpang kereta rel listrik (KRL) yang sering melanggar aturan dengan menaiki atap kereta tersebut. Penelitian ini pada dasarnya lebih menekankan titik perhatiannya pada sosok penumpang KRL sebagai sosok yang senantiasa termajinalkan dalam kehidupan sosial. Kajian ini merupakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Kajian ini juga terbatas hanya pada satu teks berita yang dimuat dalam satu rubrik metropolitan pada haian Kompas. Model analisis wacana yang digunakan adalah model Theo Van Leuween dengan tujuan untuk mendeteksi dan meneliti bagaimana para penumpang yang duduk di atap KRL dimarjinalkan posisinya dalam suatu wacana. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa terdapat dua jenis eksklusi yang dilakukan, yakni pasivasi dan nominalisasi; sedangkan inklusi ada tiga jenis, yakni diferensiasi, abstraksi, dan identifikasi. Keterbatasan dalam kajian ini disebabkan karena faktor kajian yang hanya terfokus pada satu teks berita.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa hal, yaitu, ketika wawancara informal dengan guru mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Kota Solok pada tanggal 11 Agustus 2014 dan 24 Desember 2014, ada beberapa masalah siswa kurang berminat dalam menulis sebagai Setiap siswa ditugaskan untuk menulis, siswa yang mengeluh, dalam banyak kata-kata siswa dalam pendek korsleting, siswa yang kurang beruntung dalam menulis teks sesuai dengan struktur, karena siswa teks banyak yang tidak mampu merumuskan teks sesuai dengan struktur yang sebenarnya, Jenis penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Metode ini disebut metode kuantitatif untuk data penelitian dalam bentuk angka dan analisis menggunakan statistik. Data dianalisis hasil tes, menguji kinerja menulis biografi teks. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, menguji kemampuan siswa untuk menulis biografi teks berdasarkan orientasi kualifikasi struktur lebih cukup (LDC) daripada dengan rata-rata 72,58. Kemampuan siswa untuk menulis biografi teks berdasarkan struktur peristiwa / masalah yang kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LDC) dengan rata-rata 67,74. Kemampuan siswa untuk menulis biografi teks sesuai dengan struktur kualifikasi reorientasi adalah Cukup (C) dengan rata-rata 62,09. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dijelaskan pada Bab IV, dapat disimpulkan bahwa semester pertama siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Kota Solok pada tahun akademik 2015/2016 dalam menulis teks biografi didasarkan pada struktur teks mampu menulis biografi teks kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LDC) dengan nilai rata -rata 69,57.
