Abstract

Abstract. In general practice of giving exclusive breast-feeding still low fromachievement target although various studies have shows the benefit of exclusivebreast-feeding to the baby’s health have been done. To achieve this, there needs to be knowledge for  mothers about exclusive breast-feeding because mother’s knowledge is very important domain in shaping thebehavior of  giving exclusivebreast-feeding. The purpose of this study was to know the influence of healtheducation on mother’s knowledge and behavior in giving exclusive breast-feeding.Study Design is one pretest posttest designs. Techniques used in taking samplesis purposive sampling with a sample size of 30 people. Based o the result ofdata analysis with sign test techniques is obtained p-value /Asym sig =0,000< α (0,05) so it can be concluded that there is influence between    health education on mother’s knowledge andbehavior in giving exclusive breast-feeding. To improve the achievement ofgiving exclusive breast-feeding, they need to have adequate health educationand to increase knowledge. Patient’s knowledge about exclusive breast-feedingwill shape mother’s attitudes to do exclusive breast-feeding. In theory,changes in behavior or adopt new behaviors, follow the steps mentioned above,are through the process: knowledge,attitude,practice. Key words: health education, knowledge, behavior,exclusive breast-feeding

Abstract

Abstract. Each learningactivities undertaken by teachers and students have a goal to achieve a passinggrade. In the school year 2010/2011 students who have not achieved masterylearning reaches 40%. Ideally in learning activities in the classroom masterylearning are achieved by 80%. Therefore, classroom action research wasconducted through two cycles, each cycle consisting of a plan stages, action inthe form of distribution activities and discussion groups, then performedobservations and the results will be a reflection for the next cycle. Jigsaw 'steam of experts model can improve students' understanding on the matter ofinternational trade. This is indicated by the teacher performance appraisal of62.5%, the average student value of 83.33%. In the second cycle the value ofteachers' performance by 93.75% with an average value of 93.75%. The testresults of students in the first cycle by an average of 68.06 and at 80.56 onthe second cycle. Researchers recommend to other researchers to develop a modelof instructional strategies Jigsaw 's team of experts to be combined with otherlearning approaches. Kata kunci : understanding of the material, the modeljigsaw expert team

Abstrak. BahasaInggris di Indonesia telah diajarkan mulai tingkat pendidikan dasar. Bahasa Inggrisini dipelajari oleh para siswa nulai dari tingkat dasar sampai dengan menengahbahkan di perguruan tinggi. Di Indonesia para siswa mempelajari Bahasa Inggrissebagai bahasa asing (English as a Foreign Language). Umumnya pembelajaranBahasa Inggris mencakup grammar, writing, reading, listening, dan speaking.Namun demikian, para pengajar Bahasa Inggris juga perlu mengajarkan aspekbudaya dari bahasa Inggris tersebut. Aspek budaya dari bahasa Inggris ini dapatditemukan dalam idiom. Idiom yang merupakan bahasa kiasan seringkali digunakandalam percakapan sehari-hari oleh para penutur asli Bahasa Inggris. Salah satucara yang dapat dipergunakan untuk mengajarkan idiom adalah dengan instrumentlagu. Tulisan ini membahas pengajaran idiom Bahasa Inggris melalui lagu-laguberbahasa Inggris. Lagu-lagu berbahasa Inggris yang memuat idiom di dalamliriknya dapat menjadi sarana yang efektif, karena dengan mendengarkan lagu,murid-murid akan termotivasi untuk mencari tahu makna idiom yang terdapat dalamlirik lagu tersebut.

Abstract

Abstract. This concise paper elaborates a certainconsideration relacted toa a current situation of education in Indonesia. Thequality of education in our country is relatively low compared to that of othercountries like Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. Teachers and lectures areencouraged to be professional when doing learning and teaching process. This isbecause; teachers and lecturers are of extremely important in that process.Even, if a very high technology is applied, the learning and teaching processwill never be meaningful without them. Professional teachers/lecturers musthave three things simultaneously: expertise, commitment, and skill. Besides,contextual teaching and learning (CTL) must be carried out to make students seemeaning in the academic material they are studying by connecting the subjectswith their daily lives. By doing so, it is expected that the learning andteaching process could be better. Abstract

Abstract. Language is a means of communications;it can be in spoken language, in a written text, in speech or inteaching-learning process. The language used in communication must be clear,well organized, and understandable.  W.F.Bolton said: the ability to use language is the most distinctive characteristicof human beings and yet most people taken their language ability for granted,never considering its richness and complexity. It is also said by LudwigWittgenstein the limit of language means the limit of my world. In Englishthere is parts of speech consisting of noun, verb, adverb, adjective,conjunction, preposition, pronoun, and interjection. Taking one of them, thenoun, has many representations with the same name ‘noun.’ It is not so simpleto understand it. It needs some abilities to know it well. Almost students getlittle bit confused if they meet with noun in some representations. To know itbetter needs some ways, namely, reading a lot, rich of vocabulary, goodknowledge in English especially noun with its various representations. It hasthe same meaning but has many different representations. Student-centered is agood way to increase the student’s ability to know ‘noun’ better.   Keywords:parts of speech, noun, student centered.

Abstract

Abstrak. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas kesulitan-kesulitanyang dihadapi oleh para mahasiswa semester pertama FKIP Bahasa InggrisUniversitas Jember dalam menulis komposisi bahasa Inggris di dalam kelas.subyek penelitian ini adalah 37 mahasiswa Writing 1. Data diambil dari tugasakhir yang berupa paragraf yang berisi permasalahan mahasiswa yang palingmenyulitkan ketika mereka menulis dalam bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian inipula dipakai sebagai refleksi pembelajaran bagi guru selama satu semesterpembelajaran writing 1. Berdasarkan hasil analisa dari paragraph yang ditulismahasiswa didapatkan enam jenis permasalahan paling pokok yang dirasa sangatmenyulitkan bagi mahasiswa ketika menulis bahsa Inggris. Kosakata (vovabulary),struktur bahasa Inggris (grammar), ide pokok (main idea),  isi (content), organisasi ide (organization),dan permasalahan psikologi penulis (writer’s block) adalah enam hal yang dirasamahasiswa sangat menyulitkan mereka dalam proses menulis. Dengan mengetahuipermasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa dapat memberikan input yang sangatberguna bagi guru dalam mempersiapkan materi pembelajaran pada pembelajaranberikutnya sekaligus dapat membantu para mahasiswa meningkatkan kemampuanmenulis mereka. Kata kunci: permasalahan menulis, paragraf,mahasiswa baru, persepsi siswa,

Abstract

Sereh Herb have been proven to have effect asanalgetic at mice which have been induced by acetic acid. In order to develop Sereh herb as  fitofarmaka, it requires acute toxicity testfrom sereh herb to know it’s safety level. Result of this research is expectedto become a studied material of Toxicology. In acute toxicity test of aethanolextract from sereh herb, mice divided into 5 groups which consist of 1 negativecontrol group and 4 dose levels with 2 times interval dose, 200 mg / kg BW, 400mg / kg BW, 800 mg / kg BW, and 1600 mg / kg BW. Up to maximum volume which maybe given to mice, the highest dose given to mice did not caused death,therefore the highest dose expressed as apparent LD50 ( LD0).Thereby, aethanol extract from sereh herb have LD0 value equal to1600 mg / kg BW. If converted to human being with 50 kg BW , LD0aethanol extract from sereh herba become 443,6 g / kg BW. Aethanol extract from sereh herb does not have LD50, this indicate that aethanol extract from sereh herbdoesn't have potention to make toxic effect, this matter is also shown by noany clinical symptom at mice. Thereby acute toxicity potention of Aethanolextract of sereh herb can be classified to relativelynot dangerous (> 15 g / kgBW ). In conclution, safety levelof Aethanol extract from sereh herb relatively safe to be consumed by human being.

Abstract

Abstract. Due to develop the potention of Drymaria cordataWilld. as a medicine from natural product, an experiment was done to isolatethe flavonoid from this plant. Flavonoid isolated by extraction with methanol,followed with fractionation using ethyl acetat and ethanol. Examination ofethanol fraction by thin layer chromatography with stationary phase silica gelGF 254 and mobile phase 15 % acetic acid showed phenolic compound ondetection with FeCl3 and gave yellow colour with amonia thatidentify flavonoid compound. Purification has done using column chromatographyand paper chromatography.  The structureof two isolated compounds was identified by ultraviolet spectrophotometry.
