Abstract

Jogja Fashion Week Carnival (JFWC) is held in order to promote the development of costume creative industry in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. Woven and batik (Javanese traditional fabric) as products of Indonesia is reproduced into art costumes. It may add the value of both the product and the price of the product itself as the core of the continuity of the creative industry economy in Indonesia. The eastern value of the costume design worn during the carnival may reflect the traditional value of society. The concept of the costume making is rooted from Indonesia folklores, legends and myths that are still being developed in present society. Throughout the event, exploration done by the artists is seen as a genuine attempt to support the Government in promoting costume industry both in national and international scale. Costumes worn in JFWC were analysed using aesthetic theory by adopting the point of view of DeWitt Henry Parker. The point of view comprises three main aesthetic principles, i.e.: an intact unity, thematic principle, as well as balance principle. Those three concepts can be used to find out the basic locality value of a costume that later can be used as the art education’s source of material. Finally, it is concluded that the theme of JFWC costume creation concept is sourced from the rich tradition of Indonesian society.

Abstract

Masalah yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah hubungan fenomena Campursari Manthous sebagai ‘jenis musik Jawa baru/kreasi’ dengan fenomena kondisi sosial budaya masyarakat pendukung. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah sosiologis dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian, Gunung Kidul, Klaten, Boyolali, dan Semarang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, Campursari Manthous merupakan paduan antara musik diatonik gamelan dengan musik non diatonik utamanya langgam dan pop. Basik  garapan Campursari Manthous ada tiga, yakni berbasis gending,  langgam, dan  pop. Melalui fenomena Campursari Manthous yang dijadikan sebagai sarana berkesenian sehari-hari oleh masyarakat pendukung dapat diketahui aspek kehidupan sosial budaya masyarakat pendukungnya. Aspek kondisi sosial budaya masyarakat tersebut dikaitkan dengan aspek mentalitas. Dalam konteks ini masyarakat pendukung Campursari Manthous adalah masyarakat yang bukan kategori masyarakat  tradisional murni tetapi juga bukan masyarakat yang murni modern. The problem in this research is focused on the relationship between Campursari Manthous as a new Javanese music and social phenomena of its supporting community. This research uses sociological approach by means of descriptive-qualitative method. It was located in Gunung Kidul, Klaten, Boyolali and Semarang. The result shows that Campursari Manthous harmonizes the diatonic traditional Javanese musical instrument and non-diatonic music such as langgam and pop. The basic instruments of Campursari Manthous are three, namely gending, langgam, and pop. The phenomena of Campursari Manthous used as daily musical media by its supporting community could reveal the socio-cultural aspects of its community. These are related to mentality aspect. In consideration of this latter aspect, the community does not either characterize a purely traditional community or a purely modern one.

Abstract

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a genius figure and professionals in the field of musiccomposition. In addition to a composition he is also an expert in playing musicalinstruments, violin and harpsichord. He have many works of instrumental musiccomposition, vocal, even to the form of a symphony orchestra with choir produced. Somegreat works that have been created is a composition for string quartet chamber music.Eine Kleine Nachtmusik K.525 is one of his works, which is still often heard in thecorners of the world. The composition of this string quartet has a character andcharacteristics of light music and lively, so well known in the community. In this case, theauthor tried to assess Eine Kleine Nachtmusik in the development and function of thepresentation is still sound and well-known in this modern era. To discuss this paper usedqualitative methods with descriptive analysis, the approach to musicology. Abstract

Technological developments in society and their social practices contribute to the popularity of folk songs. In this regard, this study aims: (1) to analyze the form of popular Banjar song music, and (2) to analyze the discourse and culture-media context that underpins the popularity of the Banjar song. This research was conducted using qualitative methods with data collection strategies including observation, document studies, questionnaires, and interviews. In the aspect of content, analysis of the form of music is carried out in stages: (1) notating the popular Banjar song document; (2) analyzing the form/structure of the music; (3) presenting the elements of the music form, and (3) making conclusions. Meanwhile, in studying the culture-media discourse on popular Banjar songs, it is carried out using the Pierre Bourdieu’s social practice approach which focuses on the concepts of habitus, capital, and the cultural field. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, it is known that popular Banjar songs have basic forms with three variations, namely the form of one part (A), two parts (AB), and three parts (ABC). However, it shows that most of the songs that exist are in the form of two parts, with a tendency to use major tonality. This finding confirms that the popular Banjar song is a product of mass culture, namely artworks produced from the popular culture ecosystem. In this study, it is also found that social and symbolic capital in the popularity of the Banjar song becomes a social practice that takes place in the cultural field of the people of South Kalimantan. The cultural field is a social space for cultural agents to actualize the popularity of the Banjar song.

Abstract

Dalam sejarah musik telah dikenal adanya musik Barat dan non Barat (atau sering diistilahkan dengan musik Timur). Realitas Barat dan Timur ini telah menjadi wacana yang universal sejak pihak Barat dalam masa Penjajahannya mampu menguasai dunia ilmu pengetahuan dan seni. Kemampuan Barat atas ilmu pengetahuan dan seni inilah yang akhirnya mampu menguasai geografi maupun wacana dunia Timur. Dunia Timur menjadi objek kajian oleh Barat. Kejenuhan Barat akan dirinya sendiri membual Barat mencoba mencari sumber-sumber imajinasi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan dasar bagi karya-karyanya. Idiom musik Timur telah menggelitik Barat menjelang akhir abad ke-19. Kekuatan musikal Timur yang, menurut Barat, penuh dengan muatan-muatan mistis dan estetika yang eksostis telah mampu memberikan nuansa musikal 'yang lain' daripada musik Barat. Banyak komposer Barat pergi keluar dari wilayah geografi maupun budayanya, terutama ke Timur, untuk melakukan kontemplasi atas eksotisme musikal Timur guna bahan baku dasar musiknya. Realitas inilah yang akhimya menimbulkan perkawinan antara musik Barat dan Timur.   Kata kunci: Musik ,Timur, Barat, Budaya, Idiom.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the character establishment of learners through learning dance in terms of the learning process, exercises and elements of traditional dance. This research was conducted to find and explain the process of learning traditional dance in the development of learners’ character establishment. This research data is in the form of information, documents and learning process collected through interview, literature study and observation. Meanwhile, triangulation method is done to test the validity of data from those various sources. The result shows that learning the traditional dance of Bajul Mahambara can enrich the experience of learners and on the other hand train the intellect and sense by understanding the characters of local wisdom contained in traditional dance. Learning traditional dance can give a positive influence in establishing the character of learners which are (1) religiosity; (2) honesty; (3) responsibility and cooperation; (4) tolerance; (5) discipline; (6) creativity.

Abstract

This research aims to find out (1) whether there is an influence between student’s achievements of learning violin toward their emotional intelligence, (2) whether there is a correlation between student’s achievement of learning violin and their emotional intelligence, and (3) how much contribution of student’s achievement of learning violin to their emotional intelligence. It is a qualitative research which is defined as a research method based on positivism philosophy which is used to study particular sample and population. The sample and population are drawn randomly using research instruments to collect data, and the data are analyzed statistically. This aims to examine the hypothesis defined. The finding shows that there is a significant influence between student’s achievement of learning violin and their emotional intelligence about 76.1%, while the rest of it 23.9% is influenced by other factors which are not studied in this research. It proves that learning violin influences student’s emotional intelligence very much and emotional intelligence is influential in increasing student’s achievement. From the data, it shows that most of the students participating in violin extracurricular are able to increase their learning achievement.

Abstract

Cacat mental merupakan keadaan kemampuan mental di bawah normal yang tidak dapat disembuhkan, tetapi bias diperingan melalui pendidikan, bimbingan, latihan, dan perlakuan-perlakuan khusus. Apabila secara wajar seni tari dimengerti sebagai pelajaran inti dan penuh dengan perencanaan, maka dapat berfungsi sebagai katalisator bagi pertumbuhan seseorang dan sebagai penyatu banyak disiplin, termasuk pemberian perlakuan khusus seperti tersebut di atas. Tari dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai alat sekaligus sebagai proses dan produkpendidikan dalam kesatuan totalitas dari kehidupan manusia. Tari dapat merupakan metode yang relative ideal untuk mencapai keseimbangan daya tahan dan kontrol tubuh, serta pembentukan jiwa melalui pengalaman emosi imajinatif dan ungkapan kreatif. Semua itu barangkali sangat dibutuhkan oleh anak manusia, tidak terkecuali anak penyandang cacat mental. Persoalannya mungkin hanva terletak pada bagaimana strategi, metode, dan esensi tari sebagai materi bimbingan bagi anak pengandang cacat mental.

Abstract

Di tengah maraknya jenis hiburan modern seperti sinetron, ketoprak sebagai salah satubentuk kesenian tradisional tak pelak harus bersaing dengan jenis hiburan moderntersebut untuk memperoleh perhatian di hati masyarakat. Terutama karena adanyaperubahan selera masyarakat terhadap kesenian tradisional semacam ketoprak Keseniantradisional memang harus berkompromi dan beradaptasi agar bisa bertahan. Ketoprak Humor,Ketoprak Canda, Ketoprak Jampi Stres, atau Ketoprak Plesetan relatif berhasil melakukannyamelalui televisi. Agar tontonan ini tidak cepat membosankan, maka pihaknyamembalutnya dengan humor segar. Apa yang dilakukan Kethoprak Humor ini menjadiinspirasi bagi Kethoprak Gobyok pimpinan H.M. Syakirun, yakni mengemas kethoprakdengan menonjolkan sisi humor, hanya saja Kethoprak Gobyok masih memakai bahasaJawa sebagai media penyampai pesannya. Kethoprak sebagai sebuah teater tradisionalterikat oleh hukum panggung. Hukum panggung ini menyangkut bagaimana akting diahirsecara baik dan bagaimana dialog mampu menjadi sarana untuk menyampaikan lakonkepada penonton. Agar dialog dapat benar-benar hadir secara baik sehingga penontondapat menikmati cerita secara uttth perlu ada kerjasama yang baik antarpemain. Namundemikian pada praktiknya Prinsip Kerja Sama yang terjaUn bagus dalam kethoprak padaumumnya, dalam konteks kethoprak humor justru sering dilanggar. Hal ini dilakukanuntuk menciptakan efek humor, penciptaan efek humor ini dilakukan dengan caramelanggar kebenaran dan melanggar kelaziman. Namun demikian, meski menonjolkansisi humor, Kethoprak Gobyok masih berusaha menjaga agar alur cerita tidakmenyimpang, dan humor yang dilontarkan tidak mengganggu dialog antarpemain. Hal inimembuktikan bahwa kerjasama sangat penting untuk dipatuhi dalam membentuk ceritakethoprak, sementara itu pelanggaran dilakukan untuk memberi sentuhan-senUihan humordalam rangka menarik minat penonton.Kata Kunci: dialog, kethoprak gobyok, pelanggaran, pematuhan, prinsip kerja sama

Abstract

Dalam upacara gerebeg gunungan di Surakarta dan Yogyakarta Canthangbalung merupakan penaridi barisan paling depan yang bertindak sebagai pemimpin upacara. Berbagai atribut, rias busanayang unik serta gerak-gerik yang lucu, membuat orang menjadi gembira. Sebagai pemimpinupacara, Canthangbalung tidak saja memimpin rombongan secara fisik, akan tetapi jugabertanggungjawab keselamatan semua rombongan. Dalam budaya Jawa bertugas untuk nyingkirkegodho rencana dan sarap sawan, baik yang kasat mata maupun yang tidak kasat mata. Kehadirantari Canthangbalung dalam gerebeg gunungan memiliki makna ganda yaitu disamping sebagaihiburan, juga penjaga keselamatan serta makna-makna yang sangat filosofis, berkait denganmasyarakatnya. Simbol sebagai fenomena fisik, terlihat dalam bentuk fisik dari tariCanthangbalung dengan berbagai atribut gerak dan asesorinya.
