Abstract

This study departed from the fact that often teachers find difficulties in selectingappropriate materials. It is assumed that the students' low grade in basic competenceto write short story is attributed to their poor ability and motivation to write as well asthe teachers' poor selection of learning materials. In response to this situation, thepresent study developed a book specifically designed to improve the students' abilityto write a short story. To bring this aim into practice this project took 30 junior highschool students and 6 teachers of three junior high schools of Pekalongan District,Central Java. All were purposively selected. Following research and developmentmodel of research suggested by Borg and Gall (cited in Sukmadinata 2008:169), thisstudy found that: (1) in terms of the profile of the book, the students were interestednot only in its interesting cover but also in its handy form. Besides, it used easilyunderstood language and the price was reasonable; (2) the experts' examinationshowed that the prototype of the book could feasibly be used for supporting theteachers' instructional practice; and (3) the book was effective to support teachers'instructions. This study is preliminary in nature however, and therefore a furthercomprehensive study is needed in the future to fill in the gap this study may still leave.Kata Kunci : menulis cerpen, buku panduan, siswaSMP

Abstract

Sebagai tenaga profesional, guru harus merencanakan, melaksanakan, menilai pembelajaran, membimbing dan melatih peserta didik, serta melaksanakan tugas tambahan. Tujuan penelitian adalah memotret jenis pembalajaran dalam tim  yang diimplentasikan para guru, mendeskripsikan perencanaan yang seharusnya disiapkan para guru, merumuskan keuntungan dan kekurangan pembelajaran dalam tim yang dirasakan para guru dan para siswa, mendeskripsikan hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan para guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran dalam tim. Pendekatan penelitian adalah deskriptif dengan unit analisis para kepala/wakil kepala sekolah, dan para guru  SMP, SMA, dan SMK Kota Semarang dengan sampel penelitian sebanyak 84 orang yang ditarik secara acak. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, dokumentasi, dan wawancara mendalam secara terbatas. Data terkumpul dianalisis dengan memadukan analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Studi ini menunjukan bahwa pembalajaran dalam tim telah banyak diimplentasikan dengan bentuk yang bervariasi: tradisional, kolaboratif,  bimbingan/dorongan, paralel, pemisahan/perbedaan kelas, pengawasan, kelompok anggota, perbedaan sub-kelompok, dan perencanaan individual. Manfaat yang dirasakan oleh para guru adalah saling mengisi materi, saling menutup  kelemahan, menanggulangi pembelajaran yang luas dan kompleks, meningkatkan kerjasama, dan memberi peluang kepada para guru muda bertim dengan guru senior. Aspek penting yang harus diperhatikan adalah pemilikan rasa saling mempercayai, mampu berkomunikasi secara efektif, saling memberi dan menerima, bersikap terbuka, jaminan ketuntasan belajar, dominasi salah seorang tim, penyatuan gagasan/ide, materi kurang fokus, masih ada rasa egois seseorang,dan kurangnya saling percaya diri. Teachers, as professionals, have to plan, implement, and assess learning. Teachers have also to mentor, train students, and perform additional duties as well. One of many ways that can be taken to accomplish the jobs is implementing team teaching. The objectives of the research were to describe the implementation, the planning, and the advantages and disadvantages of team teaching. The study was also aimed for describing the aspects that must be observed by teachers in implementing team teaching.  The study was descriptive with the unit of analysis of principals/vice principals and teachers of junior high schools, senior high schools, and vocational high schools of Semarang (84 people, randomly sampled). The data were collected through a questionnaire, documentation, and limited in-depth interview. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The study showed that team teaching was implemented in various forms: traditional, collaborative, mentoring, parallel instruction, splitting class, monitoring, team members, sub-team difference, and individual plans. The benefits perceived by teachers were that team teaching compensated learning materials, compensated each others’ weakness, tackled a broad and complex learning, enhanced cooperation, and gave opportunities to young teachers to work with the senior ones. The important aspect that must be considered was the feeling of mutual trust, ability to communicate effectively, give and take, being open, learning mastery guarantee, the dominance of an individual team member, collaborative ideas, less focused material, egoistic feeling, and lack of self confidence.

Abstract

This research has a purpose to describe the improvement of the competence inwriting scientific papers of grade XI-IA of SMA Negeri 9 Semarang by using inquiryelement. This research is a classroom action research by using Kemmis and Taggart’scycle theory. There are 2 cycles that consist of 4 steps each: planning, observing,action and reflection. The subject is the skill in writing scientific papers. The resultvariable of this research is the competence of scientific papers writing and the processvariable is the inquiry element. This research uses some test instruments, i.e. 1) thesystem of writing; 2) the ability to think logically; 3) the coherence between the titleand the content; 4) the ability to use proper Indonesian spelling; 5) the ability to writeparagraphs, sentences and words; 6) the ability to write quotations; 7) the ability towrite the bibliography ; and 8) the order of the writing. The non-test instruments arein the form of 1) observation sheet; 2) students’ journal; and 3) interview. The testdata were analyzed quantitatively using statistical formula. Categorization anddescription were used to analyze the non-test data. The result shows that the inquiryelement can be used in teaching the scientific paper writing of grade XI-IA students ofSMA Negeri 9 Semarang. The improvement of the competence can be seen in cycle Iand II. The average score of pre-cycle step was 62.11. Abstract

The research is aimed at finding out the different effect of maximumexercise load, sub maximum, the power of high and low arm and the interactionbetween exercise lead and arm power on the accuracy of badmintorn full smashstroke. The study was conducted at Remaja Badminton Club of Semarang in 2003.The number of the sample was 40 players. The design used was factorial 2x2. Theexercise load was measured with exercise load test which had validity coefficient onthe firs day 2.82 and on the second day 2.45. The reliablity coefficient was 0.99. Thearm power was measured with arm power test with validity coefficient on the first day238.09 and on the second day 245.92. The reliability coefficient was 0.996. Theaccuracy of the badminton full smash stroke was measured with badminton strokeaccuracy test with the validity coefficient on the first day 0.820 and the reliabilitycoefficient 0.937. The study showed that there was a different effect betweenmaximum exercise load and sub maximum (Fo = 184.02 > Ft = 4.11). There was adifferent effect between high arm power and low arm power (Fo =16.20 > Ft = 4.11).There was an interaction between exercise load and the arm power (Fo = 6,42>Ft =4,11) toward the accuracy of badminton full smash stroke.Kata kunci : beban latihan, power lengan, dan ketepatan pukulan smash penuhbulutangkis

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain tutorial online (tuton) PIPS model siklus belajar (MBS). Penelitian dilakukan di portal UT-Online menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Subjek penelitian adalah 21 mahasiswa peserta tuton dari 16 Unit Program Belajar Jarak Jauh (UPBJJ) di Indonesia. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik dokumentasi dan validasi, serta dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif-persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain tuton model MBS secara ‘kuantitatif’ kurang efektif meningkatkan aktivitas/partisipasi mahasiswa dalam forum inisiasi, diskusi, tanya jawab, dan penyelesaian tugas-tugas tutorial. Namun secara ‘kualitatif’, kualitas diskusi dan tanya jawab ‘cukup baik’ dilihat dari interaksi yang terjadi antar-partisipan, dan konten diskusikan/tanya jawab. Ketepatan waktu penyelesaian tugas-tugas tuton, perolehan nilai tugas, dan tingkat penguasaan mahasiswa atas kompetensi PIPS juga ’baik’. Rendahnya tingkat partisipasi mahasiswa di dalam tuton disebabkan oleh faktor keterbatasan waktu akses, yang menyebabkan jumlah mahasiswa akses, frekwensi, durasi, dan waktu akses sangat terbatas; dan faktor teknis, terkait dengan kendala dan keterbatasan biaya, fasilitas, dan jaringan akses. The purpose of the study is to develop a tutorial online (tuton) design for Social Studies uses learning cycle model (LC-Model). The study was conducted at UT-Online portal uses the Research and Development (R&D) method. The research subjects consist of 21 UT’s students from 16 Units of Distance Learning Program (UPBJJ) in Indonesia. Data collected with the documentation and validation techniques, and analyzed with the descriptive-percentage techniques. The study shows that the tuton design using the LC-Model, quantitatively, is not effective to increase students’ activity/participation in initiation, discussion, and ask-questions forums, also to completion of tutorial assignments. Qualitatively, however, the quality of their discussions and ask-questions are ‘good’, viewed to processes and contents of discussion and ask-questions. Timeliness to the completion of tuton assignments, the acquisition of the task scores, and the level of student’s mastery to social studies competency also is 'good'. The low of students’ participation in the tuton was caused by the limited time for access viewed from the amount of students who accesses, access frequency, duration, and time; and technical factors associated with cost, facilities, and access network constraints or limitations.

Abstract

This study is an action research aiming at answering the question of: “How thescore of the TOEFL Listening Comprehension Test of the students taking listeningcomprehension 1 in the even semester of 2006/2007 can be improved?” Eighty fourstudents of three classes took part in the study. The data were collected through test,questionnaire, and field notes. The tests were used to measure the students' skill indoing the TOEFL listening comprehension test at the beginning of the research, afterthe first cycle, and at the end of the second cycle. The questionnaire was used to knowthe students' perception of the TOEFL listening comprehension test. The field noteswere used to record the students' responses and the effects of the treatment as a basis ofreflection. During the study, the skills of doing the TOEFL listening comprehensiontest were divided into 22 sub skills. There was a significant improvement at the end ofthe research. The pretest mean score of class A: 42.67, class B: 41.82, and class C:32.44. The mean score at the end of the first cycle of classA: 58.42, class B: 56.09, andclass C: 43.33. The mean score at the end of the second cycle of classA: 80.67, class B:80.67, and class C: 67.78. The percentage of the improvement of the mean score ofclass A: 52.89%, class B: 51.84%, and class C: 47.86%. A further detailed study isneeded to find a breakthrough in the method, technique, and material which will speedup the mastery ofTOEFLlistening comprehension test.Kata kunci: skor TOEFL, listening subskills, listening comprehension

Abstract

Pendidikan dan pembelajaran sejatinya mempunyai tugas untuk memberikan bekal pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan karakter kepada siswa agar bermanfaat bagi kehidupannya. Upaya ini terkait erat dengan sajian mata pelajaran di sekolah, termasuk di dalamnya materi menulis kreatif yang tercakup dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Dalam studi pendahuluan ketika tim melakukan pengabdian di SMA Islam Batu, diketahui bahwa siswa di SMA Islam Batu sangat senang bercerita. Keterampilan berbicara siswa lebih baik daripada keterampilan menulisnya. Siswa merasa kesulitan ketika menuangkan ide cerita ke dalam sebuah karya kreatif, khususnya puisi atau cerpen. Kesulitan ini terletak pada kebingungan siswa untuk memulai menulis, semangat menulis siswa yang cenderung rendah, model pembelajaran yang dipergunakan guru belum memfasilitasi siswa untuk mengeksplorasi ide. Hal ini tentu sangat mengganggu dan perlu diselesaikan dengan segera, mengingat KD di kelas X-XII, baik itu mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk peminatan maupun umum menuntut siswa dapat menulis kreatif. Selain itu, industri kreatif saat ini memungkinkan siswa untuk dapat berkarya dan membuka peluang bagi siswa untuk mengaktualisasikan diri sekaligus dapat menjadi media promosi agar SMA Islam Batu lebih dapat diperhitungkan di masyarakat. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian pengembangan, akhirnya dihasilkan model pembelajaran KTM (Kreatif, Mandiri, dan Kreatif) Berbasis Lingkungan Sosial untuk Siswa SMA. Model pembelajaran ini dinilai dapat mengarahkan siswa untuk lebih kreatif dan mandiri, karena siswa dihadapkan pada persoalan riil dan siswa diminta untuk mencari solusi atas persoalan yang diangkatnya sebagai ide pembuatan karya kreatif.Education and learning actually have the duty to provide knowledge, skills, and character to students so that they benefit their lives. This effort is closely related to the presentation of subjects in schools, including creative writing material included in Indonesian language subjects. In a preliminary study when the team did service at the Batu Islam High School, it was found that students in Batu Islamic High School were very happy to tell stories. Students’ speaking skills are better than their writing skills. Students feel difficult when putting story ideas into a creative work, especially poetry or short stories. This difficulty lies in the confusion of students to start writing, the spirit of writing students who tend to be low, the learning model used by the teacher has not facilitated students to explore ideas. This is certainly very disturbing and needs to be resolved immediately, considering KD in class X-XII, whether it is Indonesian language for specialization or general subjects requires students to be creative writing. In addition, the creative industry now allows students to be able to work and open opportunities for students to actualize themselves as well as being a media for promotion so that Batu Islam High School can be more calculated in the community. By using the development research method, finally the KTM (Creative, Independent, and Creative) learning model based on the Social Environment for High School Students was produced. This learning model is considered to be able to direct students to be more creative and independent, because students are faced with real problems and students are asked to find solutions to the problems he raised as the idea of making creative works.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji dan mendeskripsikan dinamika organisasi kependidikan di Indonesia. Studi dilakukan pada situs-situs resmi organisasi profesi kependidikan menggunakan analisis konten atau teks web difokuskan pada sejarah perkembangan; pelaksanaan peran, fungsi, tugas dan kewenangan organisasi, serta kendala atau masalah yang dihadapi. Studi menunjukkan bahwa ada lebih dari 100 organisasi profesi pendidikan di Indonesia berbentuk asosiasi, federasi, forum, komunitas/masyarakat, serikat, klub, koalisi, aliansi, dan/atau lembaga. Dinamika organisasi dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor akademik-profesional, yuridis-formal, serta konteks sosial-politik organisasi. Secara umum, organisasi profesi pendidikan di Indonesia masih fokus pada fungsi pengembangan profesional. Sementara, fungsi advokasi hanya dilakukan oleh beberapa organisasi profesional; dan fungsi regulasi (standarisasi, akreditasi, sertifikasi, dan lisensi) masih dikoordinasikan dan dikendalikan oleh lembaga yang ditetapkan oleh Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dan/atau LPTK. Masalah yang dihadapi oleh organisasi terkait dengan pelaksanaan fungsi dan kewenangan organisasi di bidang regulasi. The study was aimed to examines and describes the dynamics of professional organizations of education in Indonesia focused on the development, implementation of the roles, functions, duties, authorities, and the problems are faced. Data was collected from the organizations official websites and analyzed using web’ content or textual analysis. The study shown that there are more than 100 professional organizations of education in Indonesia. It formed in association, federation, forum, community/society, union, club, coalition, alliance, and/or institution. The dynamics of the organizations were influenced by academic-professional, juridical-formal, as well as socio-political context of organizations. In general, professional organizations of education in Indonesia were still focused on the development functions of professional. Meanwhile, advocacy functions are performed by some professional organizations, and regulatory functions (standardization, accreditation, certification, and licensing) are remains coordinated and controlled by institutions established by the Ministry of National Education and/or LPTK. Problems which faced by organizations are related to the implemention of regulatory functions.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi pembelajaran matematika dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Formulate Share Listen and Create bernuansa konstruktivisme untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis pada materi turunan fungsi yang efektif dengan perangkat yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model Plomp. Perangkat yang dikembangkan terdiri atas silabus, RPP, buku siswa, LKS, dan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Indramayu di kabupaten Indramayu. Kelas XI IPS 2 dipilih  sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IPS 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Klasifikasi perangkat yang dikembangkan tergolong valid. Perangkat secara praktis dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis berdasarkan respon siswa dan guru yang positif. Selain itu, kemampuan komunikasi matematis kelas eksperimen mencapai ketuntasan proporsi lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol. Aktivitas dan motivasi berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis mereka.  Ada peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen. The aim of this research is to know implementation of mathematics learning with the model of cooperative learning of Formulate Share Listen and Create nuanced of constructivism to increase the mathematic communication ability through the material of the differential senior high school which is effective, by valid and practical devices. This is a development research by Plomp models. It was conducted at .The devices developed are syllabus, lesson plan, worksheet, student book and test of mathematics communication ability. State SHS 1 Indramayu in Indramayu. Grade XI social two is choosen as a experiments class and XI social two a controls class. The clasification for developed devices are included into valid learning devices. It is also increase mathematics communication ability practically cause student and teacher responses are positive. Beside that, its also achieve the minimum mastery learning criteria proportionalwise even better than control class. Activities and motivation give positive influence towards their mathematics communication ability. There are increment student’s mathematics communication ability of experiment class.

Abstract

Badminton Movement Training is a compulsory subject that each scholar in the faculty of Sport Science, Sport Trainer Education, and Physical Health and Recreation Education at FIK UNNES Semarang must pass. The basic techniques in badminton movements training includes the technique of holding rackets, behavior and position, forehand stroke, backhand stroke, smash preparation, and stroke variation. Badminton is full of complex abilities and skills. Therefore, it is important to a badminton player to have best physical performance, and this can be gained only through a well and continuous programmed physical training so that the badminton player can have his or her best physical performance. This will give positive effect to his or her mental and psychic condition, and eventually affects to the performance of his or her playing technique directly. Training will affect both nervous and muscles system. To the nervous system, the effect of the training is to repair and to develop the structure and the function of synapses so their physiology grows better. Training movement pattern will also be recorded in the brain nervous system as motor-engram. The motor-engram will control muscles’ activities, especially those which need high skill.
