Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan ringkasan temuan penelitian tindakan pada kelas Prosa yang diampu penulis. Studi ini melibatkan 25 orang mahasiswa, 15 perempuan dan 10 laki-laki, dan ditujukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mereka dalam memahami dan menganalisis karya sasrta melalui pengguanaan komik. Merujuk pada model Penelitian Tindakan tiga siklus, studi ini menemukan bahwa penggunaan komik secara signifikan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa sebagaimana ditunjukkan fakta-fakta berikut; (1) pada tahap pretes hanya terdapat 4 (16%) mahasiswa yang mampu secara mudah memahami dan menganalisis karya sastra; jumlah ini meningkat setelah penggunaan komik, yaitu menjadi, (2) 15 (60%) pada siklus pertama; (3) 22 (88%) pada siklus kedua; dan, (4) mencapai puncaknya hingga 25 orang (100%) pada siklus ketiga/fase postes. Berdasar temuan tersebut, studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa komik merupakan salah satu media efektif dalam membantu mahasiswa memahami karya sastra secara mudah. Lebih dari itu, dalam konteks peningkatan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, studi ini mendapatkan pelajaran baik yaitu, pentingnya guru dan calon guru secara kreatif mengembangkan dan mendayagunakan media dan alat bantu pembelajaran demi keberhasilan para siswa mereka. The present paper is an excerpt of an action research-based study conducted in the author’s class on prose. It involved 25 students, 15 females and 10 males, and aimed to improve the class participants’ understanding of literary works through the use of comics. Following a three-cycle model of Action Research, this study found that the use of comics has significantly improved the students’ ability to understand and analyze literary works contents, as it is indicated by the fact that; (1) only four students (16%) could easily understand and analyze literary works in the pre-test stage; whilst after the introduction of comics the number increased up to; (2) 15 (60%) in the first cylcle; (3) 22 (88%) in the second cycle; and, (4) peaked to 25 (100%) in the third cycle which was also the post-test phase. Based on these findings this study concludes that comic is amongst the effective media to help students to easily understand literary works. Moreover, for the contexts of teaching improvement, this study has also learnt that it is highly recommended for English teachers, and those who would be, to creatively develop and use attractive teaching aids and learning media in general for the success of their students.

Abstract

Play is a joyful activity and an inherent need for children so that children maylearn many skills in pleasure without any pressure. Trough play, children will be wellprepared for their environment and be ready on their next educational levels.Children’s intelligence is not only determined by a single score based on anintelligence test which measures the verbal, linguistic, and logical mathematicalcompetence. Children also have an intelligence which is called multiple intelligences.People have more or less 8 intelligences, which are verbal linguistic, logicmathematic, visual spatial, kinesthetic, music, interpersonal, intrapersonal, andnaturalistic. The multiple intelligences should be well understood by teachers, parents,and other educators. They should not develop only verbal, linguistic, and logicalmathematical intelligences. Developing multiple intelligences during early childhoodcan be conducted through a joyful play. Abstract

To teach science is basically to teach about everything in the universe. Sincetheir early age children could actually be introduced to the nature, and theirengagement in or observation of any kind of natural process may help them to enrichtheir experience and sense of science. In this sense, therefore, the use of naturalresources is important as it will also allow them to do some experiments, to furtherexplore and investigate their natural surrounding. These ability and skills areundoubtedly of a great usefulness for and in their future. Within the currentKindergarten Curriculum, science teaching is a part of the cognitive developmentenhancement. Unfortunately, in teaching science to their young learners, often,teachers adopt teaching strategies which do not suit their stage of development, forexample through the introduction of abstract scientific concept. In fact, children ofearly age think in a concrete way, and therefore, to teach them more effectively, is tosome extent to bring the subject matter to a more concrete way. Abstract

Compared to other literary works, drama is the most unique one. It is based on thedefinition that drama is made to be performed. For the reader, these images of actioncome to life when we interact with the combination of dialogues and stage directionswe call a script. The printed page does not make drama itself. The activating ingredientis our living response to what we read.And the two most important resources we haveas readers are our powers of imagination and empathy. Drama analysis as one of thesubjects learned in a university has become a class that is tiresome and timeconsuming.Students often do not enjoy or even understand the text. It is due to themethod of learning which focuses on the structural elements of the text. To avoid suchconstraint there are two alternative approaches provided by the writer, they are readerresponse and intertextuality. Those two methods are the combination of readers, text,and how the readers respond to the text. They can be applied as a solution of students'boredom in a drama analysis class. By using the approach of reader response andintertextuality students can enjoy the class more than before and even be able toperform all the skills of response such as describing, engaging, explaining,interpreting, connecting, as well as judging. Abstract

Kompetensi yang ingin dicapai dari mata kuliah manajemen katering adalah agar mahasiswa memiliki pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang konsep manajemen katering serta terampil mengelola usaha katering. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1). Untuk mengetahui apakah metode mengajar lesson study dapat meningkatkan pemahaman materi kuliah manajemen katering? 2). Untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah aktivitas mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan manajemen katering dengan menggunakan metode mengajar lesson study. Metode penelitiannya adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan dengan dua siklus, mengikuti prosedur: (1) perencanaan (planning), (2) pelaksanaan tindakan (action), (3) observasi (observation) dan (4) refleksi (reflection) dalam setiap siklusnya. Untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap materi manajemen katering, dilakukan dengan membandingkan nilai tes ke-I dengan tes ke-II, serta membandingkan nilai tes ke-II dengan tes ke-III, menggunakan t- test. Hasil penelitian pada siklus I didapat data sig. (2 tailed) yang nilainya .000 dan ternyata < 0.010 sehingga sangat signifikan, artinya ada perbedaan antara nilai pada tes I dengan tes II. Untuk mengetahui mana yang terbaik dilihat dari capaian rata-ratanya, dimana rata-rata yang tertinggi ada pada tes II yaitu 76,08, sehingga dapat dikatakan ada peningkatan hasil belajar dari siklus I dan II. Hasil penelitian pada siklus II data sig. (2 tailed) nilainya .000 dan ternyata < 0.010 sehingga sangat signifikan, artinya ada perbedaan antara nilai pada tes II dengan tes III. Untuk mengetahui mana yang terbaik dilihat dari capaian rata-ratanya, dimana rata-rata yang tertinggi ada pada tes III yaitu 78,25, sehingga dapat dikatakan ada peningkatan hasil belajar dari siklus II dan III dengan menggunakan metode lesson study.   Interest that wish reached by from eye of management course catering is in order to student haves knowledge and an understating of concept of catering management and skillful effort catering management. Intention of research this is the: 1). To know wether method of lesson study can improve understanding of management course matter catering? 2). To know how student activity in catering management by using method of lesson study. Its research method is research of class action that conducted with two cycles, follow procedure: (1) planning, (2) action,  (3) observation and (4) reflection in every its cycle. To know improvement of student understanding to catering management, conducted by compare to value first tes with second tes, and compare to value second tes with third tes, use t-test. Research Result at cycle first got data sig. (2-taileds) that its value .000 and in the reality < 0.010 until very significant, that means there is difference between value at first tes and second tes. To know maximum the best are seen from performance the average of its, where the average of the very top is on second tes that is 76,08, so it’s can be told there is result improvement learns from cycle first and second. To know maximum the best are seen from performance of the average of its, where the average of the very top is on third tes that is 78,25, so it’s can be told there is result improvement learns from cycle second and third by using lesson study method.

Abstract

The aims of this investigation were a) to make a simple lerning model aboutoverlay with Arc View program in order to find a new geospatial information, b) toincrease lerning activity on Geography Information System (SIG) subject, throughCTL-based approach. The subject of this research is 35 students of 6th semester atGeography Education Program of Social Faculty of Semarang State University(UNNES). The location of this observation is in the Geography Information SystemLaboratory of Social studies of UNNES has bee done too field research outside thelaboratory. This is an action research, consibting of 2 cyolus. The result shows that, inthe first cycle a) There were 8 students still confused in using Arc View 3.3 Program,b) 12 students were make 3 basic maps, c) and only is students who succeeded infinishing overlay task. the second cycle show that, a) 2 students can make digitallymap, b) 6 students can make 3 basic map, c) and 27 students succeed in finishing SIGpractical overlay task in finding a new geospatial information.Kata kunci: Overlay, SIG, informasi geospatial baru

Abstract

This experimental research was aimed to find out: 1) the different effect between the exercise method of sit heel raises the feet on the block compared to on  floor towards the result of the tuck style long jump, 2) the different effect between long leg and short leg towards the result of tuck style long jump, 3) the interaction between the exercise method of sit heel raises and the length of leg toward the result of tuck style long jump. This is an experimental research. The result of the research hypothesis test was analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) two ways with significance degree 95%, the result i.e: the first hypothesis test shows that the value of count is 12.29 higher than the F table as amount of 4.11 ( Fo=12.29> Ft=4.11 ). The summary: there is different effect between sit heel raises exercise with feet touches up on the block and the feet touches upon the floor toward the result of tuck style long jump. The second hypothesis test shows the value of F count is 17.97 higher than F table as amount 4,11 ( Fo=17.97 > Ft=4.11 ). The summary: there is different effect between long leg and short leg toward the result of tuck style long jump. The thirdhypothesis test shows F count 4.67 is greater than F table as amount 4.11 ( Fo= 4.67 > Ft=4.11 ). The summary: there is interaction between sit heel raises exercise and the length of leg towards result of tuck style long jump. The further analysis caused by significant Analysis of Variance between the method of sit heel raises exercise and the length of leg towards the result of tuck style long jump tested using F Scheffe test andthe result are as follows: a) Sit heel raises exercise with feet touches upon the block was proven to give a better effect comparing to sit heel raises exercise with feet touches upon the floor towards the result of tuck style long jump ( FSA=11.97>Ft=4.11), b) Long leg was proven to give a better effect comparing to short legs towards the result of tuck style long jump ( FSB=18.47 > Ft=4.11 ). Hopefully this research result will be useful for sport teacher and coaches who intend to develop long jump, if they want to create exercise program, sit heel raises exercise with feet touches upon the block involved in the alternative exercise, and should give interest in the length of leg, because in this research it was proven that long legs had abetter effect compared to short legs towards the result of tuck style long jump.Kata kunci: latihan heel raises duduk, panjang tungkai, lompat jauh gaya jongkok

Abstract

The research was a descriptive qualitative research. The research process wasstarted by doing an observation among students in applying the basic concept ofsimple present tense in their daily activities. Before analyzing the research, theresearchers did some observations, try out test, collecting data, and interview amongstudents. The researchers found out that more than 80% students could not understandthe basic concepts of simple present tense well. They often did some grammaticalerrors. Its topic was chosen based on the researchers’ experience as the Englishteachers. The researchers often found students’ grammatical errors especially insimple present tense. The aim of the research was formulated as: (1). To know howstudents can understand and make the simple present tense in positive, negative, andinterrogative form both in singular and plural subject at the written test, (2). To knowwhat kinds of grammatical errors were used to be done by students in creating thesimple present tense sentences at the interview test, (3). What kinds of general errorswere used to be done by students. The research was located at 2 Senior High Schoolon Jalan Sendangguwo Baru no 1, Semarang. The subject of this research was the firstgrade students of 2 Senior High School. The samples were taken randomly from eachclass (20% from the total population). The techniques of collecting data were done bywritten and interview test. The collecting data were done three times. At the first,students were asked to answer the essay test, at the second, students were asked towrite down their daily activities in English Language. Then at the third, students wereasked to tell their daily activities orally. The results of the test were: at the try out test,there were only 12 of 42 students (30%) who could do and write the simple presenttense sentences correctly. On the collecting data test, there were 32 of 42 students(65%) who could do and write the simple present tense sentences correctly. It could besaid that there was an improvement to understand the basic concept of simple presenttense among students (35%). While at the interview test, students were used to doovergeneralization and incomplete application of rules as their common mistakes.Kata kunci: simple present tense, overgeneralization, incomplete application of rules

Abstract

Education with a dimension of EO (Emotional Quotions) can be found in theconcept of dance education. This article is the result research that examine how theimplementation process, and improvement of emotional intelligence of youngchildren through learning the art of dance by using a qualitative approach. Data iscollected through focused interviews, participant observation, and studydocumentation. The data is analyzed by reducing, clarifyng, describing, concluding,and interpreting all the information. The data is then examinated it's confirmabilityand dependability. The result showed the implementation process of dance educationin early childhood dependent on it's teaching and learning process, which includes:objectives, teaching material, teaching methods and learning activities, facilities andinfrastructure, evaluation, social and cultural conditions. The improvement ofemotional intelligence of young children through learning the art dance can be seenthrough: (1) a sense of pridfe, (2) has a brave nature, (3) able to control emotions, (4)able to hone refinement, (5) be able to nuture a sense of responsibility, (6) able tonuture a sense of self, (7) easy to interact with others, (8) has a good performance, (9)are able to develop imagination, and (10) becomes a creative child.Kata Kunci: pendidikan seni tari, kecerdasan emosional, dan anak usia dini

Abstract

Pembelajaran materi organisasi sistem kehidupan di SMP Negeri 3 Pabelan tidak dapat dilakukan dengan pengamatan langsung karena keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana. Media kartu pop up  card adalah salah satu yang dapat digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pop up card dalam pembelajaran materi organisasi kehidupan di sekolah ini. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan ialah metode “True Experimental Design” bentuk “Pretest-Posttest Only Control Design”. Data yang diambil adalah data hasil belajar siswa, aktivitas siswa, tanggapan siswa dan tanggapan guru. Berdasarkan hasil uji t perbedaan mean antara pretest posttest diperoleh t hitung = 1.679 dan t tabel = 1.671, untuk t> t tabel, maka Ho ditolak. Analisis hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas eksperimen mencapai ketuntasan 93,94%, sedangkan kelas kontrol 78,13%. Aktivitas siswa kelas eksperimen, 72,7% siswa pada pertemuan pertama dan 84,8% siswa pada pertemuan kedua tergolong aktif dan sangat aktif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan, penggunaan kartu pop up card efektif dalam pembelajaran sistwm organisasi kehidupan di SMP N 3 Pabelan Learning material organization of life systems in SMP Negeri 3 Pabelan can not be carried out by direct observation because of limitations facilities and infrastructure. Pop up card is media that can be used. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of pop up card in learning material organization of life in this school. The samples in this study were taken by purposive sampling technique. The method is the True Experimental Design form Pretest-Posttest Only Control Design. The data is taken from student learning outcomes, student activities, student and teacher responses. Based on the results of t-test the mean difference between pretest posttest obtained t = 1.679 and the t table = 1.671, t> t table, so Ho is rejected. Analysis of the research showed that the experimental class students achieve mastery 93.94%, while the control class is 78.13%. Experimental activity graders, 72.7% of students at the first meeting and 84.8% of students in the second meeting have an active and very active criteria.  Based on the results of this study concluded that pop up card is effectively used in learning the material organization of life systems in SMP N 3 Pabelan
