<![CDATA[<p>This study explores the representation of healthy culture in Hoshi Shinichi’s short story <em>“Nemuri Usagi”</em> (<em>The Sleeping Rabbit</em>), focusing on how the narrative reflects Japanese values related to physical, mental, and social well-being. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literary anthropology framework, the analysis identifies cultural elements that construct a holistic concept of health in Japanese society. The findings reveal that <em>“Nemuri Usagi”</em> portrays health not merely as the absence of illness, but as an integration of discipline, harmony, and mindfulness in daily life. Through symbolic characters and minimalist storytelling, Hoshi Shinichi emphasizes the balance between rest and productivity, individual awareness and collective responsibility. <![CDATA[<em>This article examines Akutagawa Ryūnosuke's short story Yabu no Naka (1922) as a critical reflection of the socio-political transformations during Japan's Taishō era (1912-1926). Using a New Historicism approach, the study reveals how the story's multiperspective narrative technique not only challenges the notion of absolute truth but also represents the paradoxes of Japan's modernization, including class tensions, gender dynamics, and legal authority. Through characters such as the woodcutter, the priest, the bandit Tajōmaru, and the samurai's wife Masago, Akutagawa portrays a society caught between traditional values and Western modernity. <![CDATA[<p>This study aims to evaluate the perceived effectiveness and implementation dynamics of <em>Lesson Study</em> in the Cross-Cultural Understanding course (<em>Ibunka Rikai</em>) conducted through the <em>Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka</em> (MBKM) program. This descriptive qualitative research involved students and lecturers from Semarang State University and Ganesha University of Education. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results highlight three main themes: (1) Improved quality of instructional design collaboration, (2) Dynamics of cross-cultural interaction in virtual spaces, and (3) Technical challenges and pedagogical adaptation. Findings indicate that while conventional methods often limit active interaction, the <em>Lesson Study</em> approach successfully facilitated deeper student engagement and understanding of Japanese cultural nuances. <![CDATA[<p>This article took the field of semiotic research and focuses on interpretation of meanings of three Japanese poems/<em>waka</em> (和歌), that include the word <em>‘Naniwa’</em> (難波) from the famous Japanese poetry compilation, named <em>Hyakunin Isshu</em> (百人一首). The research conformed Michael Riffaterre's theory of semiotic readings, with procedure of: (1) heuristic reading, (2) hermeneutic reading, (3) matrix, model, variant, and (4) hypogram. This research used qualitative descriptive method, a research method that describes and illustrates linguistic phenomena. Heuristic reading produced referential meanings, while hermeneutic reading produced persuative meanings and indirect expressions due to the use of <em>kakekotoba</em> (掛詞), a pivotal vocabulary that is usually written only using hiragana letters, however its meaning refers to more than one vocabulary. The matrix on the 19th waka is "anxiety", then the matrix on the 20th waka is "sacrifice", and the matrix on the 88th waka is "love". Thus, the three matrices are realized into models, which took form of words or phrases written in the waka. Lastly, the models are shaped into variants that refers directly to the lines in the waka. The hypogram (intertextual relation) of the three waka referred to the word <em>Naniwa</em> which is clearly written using the same kanji: 難 (<em>nan</em>) and 波 (<em>wa</em>). <![CDATA[<p align="center"><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>Within variety of society, sociolingustic became a study which further opens understanding of how language is used within society. Japanese is one of unique language that being used accordingly depends on context as well as the speaker and listener’s age, social standing, and other aspect within society. As a part of society, young people aged from 10 to 30 often use a variety of casual language which is often known as slang or <em>wakamono kotoba</em>. Depending on their creativity and motivation, Yonekawa describes 14 types of how young people form <em>wakamono kotoba</em> and became popular within their circle, both in written or spoken communication in daily life. This study has a purpose to deepen understanding of how <em>wakamono kotoba</em> formed in a sport background of young people in a manga then adapted to anime <em>Haikyu!!</em>. This study’s data is based on the latest <em>Haikyu!!</em> anime in a movie format to see <em>wakamono kotoba</em> used in high school volleyball club. As a descriptive qualitative study, methods of data collecting and analyzing used a triangulation method to note needed data and analyze the variety of forming words. Within overall collected data, 5 variation of forming words has been deemed to be how the words are formed by analyzing meaning of each word. By shortening of the original word, absorbing foreign words, changing the pronounciation and how to read the word as well as combining words into one. <![CDATA[<p>This study examines the polysemic meaning of the Japanese word 結構 (kekkou) and its use in everyday communication. Through pragmatic analysis using Dell Hymes' SPEAKING theory, this study identifies two main functions of 結構 (kekkou): as an expression of satisfaction or approval and as a subtle rejection. This word is often used in Japanese culture to show politeness in both formal and informal communication, which requires understanding the context to avoid misunderstanding. Within an utterance, the polysemy 結構 (kekkou) has different meanings and uses. The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of polysemy 結構 (kekkou) in Japanese speech. This study adopts a qualitative approach through discourse analysis. The data were taken from a set of data corpus collected by the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics. The data were collected by the documentation method, namely by searching and selecting sentences or phrases containing the word 結構 (kekkou) from various sources. In addition, the data were analyzed using 8 components of speech event formation (SPEAKING).
