Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing anxiety in the community. This anxiety is also felt by adolescents so teenagers become one of the groups at risk of having poor sleep quality. Unmet sleep quality may have an impact on improving health for the process of restoring body functions in order to complete daily tasks and have a good quality of life. This research aims to describe the quality of life along with the quality of sleep of Catholic High School teenager Rex Mundi Manado during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Students of Rex Mundi Catholic High School who reach the inclusion criteria were recruited through cluster random sampling. WHOQOL-BREF and PSQI questionnaires were used as tools through online data collection In total,. 87 students participated in this study and showed the average quality of life score in the physical domain, psychology, social relations, and the environment was at a score of 51-75. The majority of students had scores good enough for subjective sleep quality, 1-2 for latent sleep, 6-7 hours of sleep, efficient sleep >85%, sleep disorder scores of 1-9, and the majority had never used sleep medications in the past month, and for daytime dysfunction had a score of 1-2. The conclusion of the study is that most respondents have a moderate level of quality of life in the domain of physical, psychological, social relationships, environment, and have good sleep quality.Keywords: quality of life, quality of sleep

Abstract

Background: Adolescent is a period of growth that is most unique since there are very large changes covering physical, psychological and social development. The growth and development of adolescents are influenced by the quality of life with physical activity. However, the COVID-19 epidemic has severely limited the physical activity of adolescents, which has an impact on their quality of life and growth.Objective: The general aim of this study was to discover the quality of adolescent life and physical activity during the pandemic and the specific objective was to find out an overview of the quality of life, physical dimensions, psychological dimensions, social dimensions, environmental dimensions in physical activity.Method: This study used descriptive research with a cross-sectional design and it also used the cluster random sampling technique and simple random sampling by distributing WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires and the Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) through google form.Results: Based on the 91 samples, it indicated that the physical health dimension of students with light physical activity, most of the good quality of life was 37.4, the psychological dimension with moderate physical activity, most of the good quality of life was 29.7, the social dimension with the most moderate student activity was 31.9.Conclusion: Students of SMP Negeri 2 Manado had a good and moderate quality of life, while their physical activity was moderate in all dimensions.Keywords: quality of life, physical activity, adolescents, COVID-19.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a disease that is transmitted through the air by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis). Tuberculosis usually attacks the lungs, but can also attack the extrapulmonary (larynx, lymph nodes, pleura, kidneys, bones and joints). Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis usually have symptoms such as coughing, sweating, especially at night, fever, fatigue, and weight loss. In 2015, pediatric TB cases accounted for 9% of all TB cases in Indonesia.In this case discussion there is a patient diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient came with a complaint of cough with phlegm for approximately 1 month. The patient has done a sputum test / culture, and the results are positive, the patient has finished undergoing initial phase of OAT treatment therapy, and is undergoing an advanced phase of therapy. This discussion is about a holistic diagnostic approach to the patient's disease. This is done in order to know better about the factors related to the occurrence of the disease in patients.

Abstract

Background: Adolescance is a transitional period that creates significant change of physical, psychological, environment and social that can determine the quality of human life so that adolescents need a place to chanel theie mental turmoil due to these change. The role of school as a protection mechanism for adolescents during a pandemic has become less effective then can lead them to the various problems including alcohol consumption.Aim: This study aims to describe the quality of life and alcohol consumption of the student of SMA Negeri 7 Manado during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: This research is descriptive with a cross sectional design and has been conducted from September to December 2020. By using the stratified random sampling method, it has been found that 93 respondents met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results and Conclusion :The results showing that the quality of life of  SMA 7 Manado adolescents, both girls and boys, is in the moderate category, this has been seen in the physical domain of men that is (66.71%), psychological (52%), social (58.26%), the environment (67.98%).  Physical domain is in female students (67.5%), psychological (57.84%), social (60.85%), and environment (67.98%).  Alcohol consumption of adolescents in SMA 7 Manado is still in the low category, that is (14%).Keywords: quality of life, adolescents, alcohol, COVID-19, pandemic

Abstract

Pharyngitis is one of the most common diseases that occurs in most people. This report is a case discussion  of a 67-year-old man with painful swallowing, cough, and chills. The patient has a smoking habit, and has a history of hypertension, with a regular antihypertensive drug consumption, such as amlodipine. This discussion is related to a holistic diagnostic approach to the patient's complaints, in order to better understand the factors associated with the occurrence of the disease in the patient.Keywords: pharyngitis, hypertension, holistic diagnostic

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic disease is one of the health problems in Indonesia which continues to increase and has not been successfully reduced. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a chronic disease which has been a major cause of death and global burden of disease. The prevalence of CHD in North Sulawesi is 1.8%, exceeding the national prevalence, making North Sulawesi the fourth highest province in Indonesia. The management of CHD aims to prevent recurrent coronary events and complications by modifying risk factors. Holistic approach is needed to identify the risk factors that cause CHD. Family medicine is a medical specialty that provides health care with a holistic approach at first-level health facilities. Program Rujuk Balik (PRB), as one of the leading programs, is optimized to improve the quality of health services for the participants of BPJS Kesehatan and to facilitate access to health services for participants who have chronic diseases. The catastrophic costs can be minimized through holistic management of CHD by family physicians maximizing the function of PRB. Objective: To determine the overview of the management of PRB participants with CHD by family physicians in Manado City. Methods: This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Results: It was found that all respondents were in the good category at managing the participants of PRB with CHD (100%). Conclusion: The management of the participants of PRB with CHD by family physicians in Manado City has been well. Keywords: program rujuk balik, coronary heart disease, family physicians.

Abstract

The results of a survey of Indonesian health data stated that adolescent knowledge about reproductive health was not sufficient, only 33% of female adolescents and 37% of male adolescents knew that they were more likely to become pregnant if they had sexual intercourse. Adolescent knowledge about reproductive health is still relatively low. This type of research is pre-experimental in the form of one group pre-post test design. The population in this study were the students of class X who were at the State Senior High School 7 Manado totaling 45 sample respondents using purposive sampling. The results of the study on the level of knowledge before reproductive health education was carried out in the good category were 7 respondents (15.5%), the sufficient category was 23 respondents (51.1%), and the less category was 15 respondents (33.3%). And the results of the research after the reproductive health education was carried out were in the good category of 25 respondents (55.6%), sufficient category 17 respondents (37.8%), and the poor category only 3 respondents (6.7%). The results of the study showed that the level of knowledge before being given health education was (63.11%) and after being given reproductive health education was (79.00%). The result of the paired t-test test, the p value is 0.000, which is smaller than the significant value of (0.05). The conclusion is that there is a significant effect of reproductive health education on adolescent knowledge at the State 7 Manado Senior High School. Abstract

Introduction: Pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. Control of DMT2 disease requires a holistic approach to meet the needs of the community through the pre-diabetes group, namely family physicians. Studies have found that general practitioner that have limited knowledge of risk factors for pre-diabetes screening, laboratory diagnostic criteria for pre-diabetes, and management recommendations for patients with pre-diabetes contributing to an inadequate diagnosis of pre-diabetes. Purpose: To find the behavior of family physicians in the management of chronic disease pre-diabetes mellitus in Manado City. Methods: This research is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional design. Result: The results showed that the knowledges level of family physicians in Manado City was in the good category totaling 31 doctors (100%), the attitudes level of family physicians in the good category with 31 doctors (100%), and the practice level of family physicians was in the good category with 31 doctors (100). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, family physicians in Manado have good knowledge, attitude, and practice about pre-diabetes. Keywords: pre-diabetes, behavior, family physicians

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading causes of premature death worldwide. The 2018 Indonesian prevalence of hypertension based on the results of population measurements at the age of 18 years or above was 34.1%. The hypertension prevalence in the North Sulawesi Province is still very high. Health services usually initiate from primary health care, such as primary health centres or family physicians. Family physicians are responsible for providing comprehensive health services to every individual, including hypertension. This study aimed to measure the prevalence of hypertensive patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in family physician practices. This research was a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional study design, starting from October to December 2022. This study used secondary data on patient medical records at family physician practice during the COVID-19 pandemic from June 2021 to May 2022. There were 768 patients in this study. The prevalence of hypertension patients in family practice during the COVID-19 pandemic was 31.3%. The majority of patients were above 65 years old and female groups. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels. As the 6th leading cause of death in developing countries, type 2 DM (T2DM) accounts for 90% of all DM cases. Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) 2018 states prevalence of DM in Manado City was 4.51%. This study aims to determine the epidemiological data of T2DM during the COVID-19 pandemic in family doctor practices in Manado City, with the specific aim of knowing its prevalence and pattern of it. This study was a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional study design. Data were from the medical record data of T2DM patients in family doctor practices in Manado City from June 2021 to May 2022. The results showed that the prevalence of T2DM in family doctor practices was 28.64%. Most patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were female, and most T2DM patients were over 65 years old.
