Abstract

Investing is an activity that sacrifice the resources at this time in hopes of gaining greater profits in the future.. Before making an investment decision, an investor will consider many factors, one of which is about risk. There are two types of risk, systematic risk and unsystematic risk. Systematic risk is reflected in the value of beta coefficient. Beta indicates the volatility of stock return to market return. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of inflation, interest rate, dividend payout ratio, and current ratio on systematic risk in State-owned Enterprises. This research was classified as descriptive verificative research. This study used data panel analysis with methods Common Effect Methods. These results indicate that inflation, interest rate, dividend payout ratio and current ratio does not have significant influence on systematic risk in State-owned Enterprises listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2011-2013 either simultaneously or partially.

Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the measurements levels of job satisfaction and job performance, as well as to examine the positive effects on job satisfaction of employees performance in PT XYZ. This study used a quantitative approach, primary data which was obtained from the questionnaires to 60 employees, and secondary data from the company record, literature and previous research. The conclusion was, first, that each of individual employees had different job satisfaction. Second, the job performance was individual. Third, job satisfaction was high, working condition indicator as the highest and social service indicator as the lowest. Fourth, job performance was high, quality of work indicator as the highest, as well as cooperative and dependability indicator as the lowest. Fifth, the job satisfaction had no positive effect on job performance in PT XYZ.

Abstract

Conflict became one of the biggest problems in the Middle East region. This situation will deteriorated the country and will impact on economic perfomance, so defense budget is important to resolve these problems. This study aims to determine the effect of military budget on economic perfomance in 22 countries of the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia 2000-2014 period. This study uses 5 variables namely GDP per capita, military budget, gross capital formation, human capital and final consumption expenditure. This study uses panel data analysis with fixed effect model. The results of model estimation suggest that military budget has a significant negative effect on economic perfomance, while gross capital formation, final consumption expenditure have significant positive effect on economic perfomance. Meanwhile, human capital does not have significant effect on economic perfomance in 22 countries.

Abstract

This paper attempts to view at the development of Islamic thought in the study of economics and economic growth. In particular, it attempts to explore the similarities and differences between Islamic ideas about economics and to construct economic growth thought and how it used to bridge the gap. The analysis starts from Muslim thought Ibn Khaldun, Al-Ghazali and Ibn Taymiyyah. In addition, the study looked at how the views of classical Islamic scholars had entered into the idea of economic growth. Suggestions will be made on how the gap can be bridged or made closer to contemporary economic thought and economic direction of the country’s future.

Abstract

Accrual earnings management is a form of manipulation of financial statements on the accrual components to increase its profit in order to look good in the investors perception. This research approach discretionary revenue published by Stubben in 2010 with two different formulas are conditional revenue models and revenue models to measure the accrual earnings management to be proxies to the performance of the company. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of accrual earnings management by discretionary revenue approach on firm performance in manufacturing companies listed on the Stock Exchange. The Results of analysis for this study were 1) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Revenue Model does not affect the Return On Asset. 2) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Revenue Model does not affect the Tobin’s q. 3) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Conditional Revenue Models effect on the Return On Asset. 4) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Conditional Revenue Models has no effect on Tobin’s q.

Abstract

Tax holiday is a facility given by the government to investors in Indonesia to attract foreign and local investors in Indonesia, especially in the industrial sector as well as to improve national economic growth. Purpose of this research is to analyze the tax holiday policy and how the impact on the investment in Indonesia. Data consists of primary and secondary data which are collected through interview, questionnaire and literature study. Respondents are Honam Petrochemical Corp, PT. Asahimas Chemical, PT. Nippon Shokubai, PT Petrokimia Butadiene Indonesia and PT. Ebel Industries. The results showed that all companies meet the criteria to obtain the facility of tax holiday. Giving tax holiday facility is very influential against the growth of industry in Indonesia especially for petrochemical industries that has an important role in the economic growth.

Abstract

The approach of this research is qualitative, using case study method. The data was obtained through in-depth interview, observation, literature study, and documentation. The data analysis steps used were data reduction, data display, and verification. The purpose of the research is to investigate the promotion strategy of the tourism village of Jelekong, Bandung Regency performed by Kompepar Giriharja. The result of the research shows that Kompepar Giriharja performs promotion mix, i.e., word of mouth, public relations, personal selling, event, exhibition, merchandise, publication, and website. From overall promotion strategy applied by Kompepar Giriharja, the main priority was through event and public relations. The conclusion of this research is Kompepar Giriharja has not formulated comprehensive and integrated promotion strategy.

Abstract

Measuring company performances using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is started by doing SWOT analysis to determine the internal and external factors. This analysis will show the company’s current position as well as the strategies that have to be applied. The results of the research shows that currently the company is in a good condition but facing a big challenge.Therefore the strategies that must be implemented is a strategy of diversification. The final step of this research is determining several KPI’s which generate six inisiative programs that must be done.They are conduct Focus Group Discussion with regular customers (wholesale and resellers), implement sales program references, doing pull marketing and targeted marketing programs, determining raw product completion time, conduct competency program design, conduct market surveis, do outreach company’s SOP to employees, to assess the ability of existing human resources, implement reward program for the achievement of the target, and build the competency profiles.

Abstract

The essence of the Islamic economic system is strengthening the real sector. This research aims to analyze the effect of Islamic monetary instrument (such as SBIS, PUAS and Islamic bank financing in the real sector. This research uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) as a method of analysis. The finding revealed that based on the VECM estimation test, in the long term SBIS and Islamic bank financing has a positive effect on the Industrial Production Index (IPI). Meanwhile, PUAS has an adverse effect toward Industrial Production Index (IPI). Besides, based on impulse response function (IRF) test, the shock of SBIS and PUAS responded positively by Industrial Production Index (IPI). Then based on the result of FEVD test, the variable of PUAS in the model of this research has the most significant contribution toward Industrial Production Index (IPI).

Abstract

The phenomenon happening nowadays is that, colleges become commodities needed by society in order to improve people’s lives. A quality college is literally seen by the public from its facilities and infrastructures as well as by the satisfaction of the students at that college or university. So the purpose of this study is to observe the effect of service quality on student satisfaction at the Extension Program Faculty of Economics, University of Jambi, either simultaneously or partially. The data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from questionnaires disseminated to 100 students which were selected as research sample. The method used is descriptive method of verification, while the research tool used is path analysis. The result of this research shows that there is significant effect of service quality on student satisfaction both simultaneously (by 54.2%) and partially. The partial effect on reliability is 19.98%, responsiveness is 23.25%, physical evidence is 25.34%, empathy is 21.57%, and assurance is 18.10%.
