Abstract

Global warming is becoming worse; therefore, innovation and creativity are needed to minimize global warming effects. One of the innovation and creativity can replace material inconcrete mixing with waste material. Waste material used in this research is steel production waste, named Precious Steel Ball (PS Ball). PS Ball is used in this research to replace fine aggregate with PS Ball, whose percentage addition of PS Ball is 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% to 50% as a replacement for of thevolume of fine aggregate. Specimen used to study the beam flexural strength of concrete is the size of 600 x 150 x 150 mm. The results shows that the maximum flexural strength in the mixture without using PS Ball with flexural strength values is obtained at 4.254 MPa. While the flexural strength witha mixture of sand instead of PS Ball can lower flexural strength by an average of 27.341% compared to the concrete mix without the use of PS Ball. The pattern of cracks occurs in the concrete without bending mixture of PS Ball and Ball PS percentage of the mixture is up to 30% and 45%. The patternof bending and shear cracks occurs at the levels of PS Ball 35%, 45% and 50%.Keywords: PS. Ball, flexural strength, concrete beam

Abstract

PT X is a spinning company which produces sewing thread. The company has some quality problems at twisting area, where defects are detected. To improve the quality performance in that area, DMAIC method is used . The result of the study and analysis reveals that the first priority of defect that has to be fixed is curly thread, then hairy thread, and last is the thread that has abnormal TPI. The research suggests some improvement proposals: the use of ultraviolet light sensor forthread, installation of automatic system at some parts of the machine, cooperation with raw thread suppliers and/or spare-part machine suppliers to look for solutions by collaborating with SISIR, the possibility of finding alternative suppliers, the use of the original spare parts, some training andmentoring how to maintain the machine for relevant staff and technicians , utilization of check-sheet form in work inspection which is to be filled, completed by operators and to be checked by chief operator, and the use of picture image of assembly thread line as a guide for operators.Keywords: Thread Defect, Quality, DMAIC, 5W+1H

Abstract

This research is conducted with the aim to find a description of the coping stress strategies used by the ex-post duty of Garuda Peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of The Congo. The design used in this study is a descriptive research using a questionnaire. The study involves 80 respondentsdrawn from a population of 180 people.Measuring instruments used are the Ways of Coping Questionnaire (WCQ) developed by Lazarus and Folkman (1984,) which has been modified by the researcher. The questionnaire consists of 43 items with each item validity between 0.303 to 0.640 and the degree of reliability of 0.790. From the research,it is found out that 46.25% of Garuda peacekeepers post duty in the Democratic Republic of The Congo use both types of stress copingstrategies. A total of 28.75% uses stress coping strategies that focus on problem and as much as 25% uses coping strategies focused on emotion. Suggestions for further research is to conduct research on the effectiveness of coping stress strategies in order to obtain an idea of the effective stress coping strategies for the soldier in charge of the country, especially after duty of the Congo. The researchercan also do research on how strong the contribution of degree of stress, work experience in their influence on the use of stress coping strategies.Keywords: coping stress, garuda peacekeepers

Abstract

Pada masa kini, sastra tradisional dengan aksara kuno di Indonesia dinyatakan hampir punah. Demikian juga, sastra sastra tradisional lainnya saat ini juga terancam punah. Untuk mengatasi ini, diperlukan pembelajaran sastra tradional yang sarat dengan nilai luhur dan nilai kepribadian bangsa. Akan tetapi, banyak dijumpai kelemahan dalam pembelajaran sastra tradisional ini, salah satunya adalah masih monotonnya sistem pembelajaran sastra di kelas. Penerapan metode mengajar yang beragam yang disertai dengan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang kreatif perlu didesain dan diaplikasikan, salah satunya ialah papan permainan.Kata kunci: papan permainan, sastra tradisional, kreativitas

Abstract

In the Chinese language teaching in Indonesia, course books become one of the most prominent problems. Most of the Chinese educational institutions in Indonesia are still using Chinese course books published by China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. It is known that there are no course books that are absolutely perfect and suitable to be used by all language learners. These circumstances lead to the selection of course books which has become a complex task. The selection ofcourse books is connected with the course books evaluation, both internal and external. Good or bad quality of course books has impacts and influences to the entire teaching process .In addition, the selection of course books needs to pay attention to many aspects. Course books must be able to meetthe Indonesian social needs of the Chinese language in accordance with the educational institution’s purpose of Chinese language learning, the characteristics of learners’ age as well as learning language, and also their Chinese language proficiency level.This paper specifically describes how to improve the quality of learning, while creativity is required in selecting Chinese language course books for elementary level adult learners in Indonesia.Keywords: quality of learning, creativity, the selection of course book, elementary Chinese, Indonesian adults

Abstract

The present paper aims at discussing what features of English intercultural competence are believed to be important for Indonesian EFL learners to become successful English learners and in international communication. The research participants are 113 learners currently enrolling in D3 (Diploma Three) English program and English Literature program (BA in English Literature) at Maranatha Christian University. In order to gain data for the present study, a questionnaire containing open and closed questions has been administered to the participants. A descriptive statistical analysis is conducted to answer some questions raised in the study. The findings show thatmost of the students learn English to be able to communicate with both native speakers of English (such as Americans British, Australians) and non-native speakers of English (such as Malaysians, Singaporeans, Indians) and they think that it is important to gain intercultural competence as well asknowing non-native varieties of English.Keywords: English, communication, intercultural competence, varieties of Englishes

Abstract

Dengan metoda pengajaran yang tidak tradisional dan kreatif yang mengikuti pendekatan Communicative Language dalam mengajar grammar bahasa Inggris, siswa diajak untukmengaplikasikan pola grammar secara langsung dalam percakapan dalam konteks nyata yang dipakai oleh bahasa tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode yang dipakai adalah cara pengajaran kreatif dimana mahasiswa difasilitasi untuk bercakap-cakap baik berpasangan maupun berkelompok dalam suatu konteks kehidupan sehari-hari dalam bentuk game, role play, informationgap activity dan berbagai teknik CLT lainnya. Oleh sebab itu, dengan menggunakan metodapengajaran yang tidak tradisional ini, akan lebih sesuai jika cara penilaian terhadap siswa sejalan dengan metoda ini, yang dinamakan Alternative Assessment. Dalam metoda penilaian yang tidak tradisional ini, perkembangan siswa dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan pola grammar yang benardalam bahasa asing ini dapat dinilai dengan lebih menyeluruh dan benar-benar berfokus pada kemampuan berbahasa Inggris mereka. In this era, optimalization of company value represented by stock value has become the main purpose of company management. Dividend policy is directly connected to this matter. Continuous shared dividend may or may not attract potential investors depending on their purpose of investment. The option to retain earning also may lead to different results. Stock price may escalate or drop depending on the policy made. This paper tries to examine and discuss this matter as well as tries to search the best possible policies regarding the dividend policy. Abstract

It should come as no surprise that tooth loss and age are linked. It has been documented that there is a specific tooth loss relationship with increasing age because some teeth are retained longer than others. There is an interarch difference in tooth loss, with the maxillary tooth loss beforemandibular teeth. There is also an intraarch difference with posterior teeth loss before anterior teeth.Frequently, the last remaining teeth in the mouth are the mandibular anterior teeth, sometimes accompanied by compromised conditions, and it is a common finding to see an edentulous maxilla opposing mandibular anterior teeth2. The swing-lock removable partial denture concept offers a wayof maximizing the retention and stability of the removable partial denture and may be very useful in restoring the extremely compromised dentition4. Abstract

This applied research is done at Seteran Semarang Restaurant in Bandung as a business development model by opening a new branch at Paskal Hyper Square Bandung. The variables used for the service qualities of what consumers want are variables derived from 5 main dimensions according to Parasuraman V. A Zeithaml and L.L Berry. Those five main dimensions are tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The result of QFD part 1 shows that there are 35consumer needs, which are arranged according to priority scale as proposed by the previous 5 main dimensions and there are 43 technical efforts needed to meet these consumer needs. The 43 technical efforts require 47 design characteristics which are shown in QFD part 2 and to be further deployed to part 3. The third part of QFD produces 68 characterictics of process which must be done in order to fulfill the 47 design characterictics in the second part. The goal of this research is to design servicedevelopment model by deploying from consumer needs into the process characteristics according to the priority scale.Keywords: QFD ( Quality Function Development ), Service Quality.
