This research aimed to develop a contextual learning–based audiovisual media and examine its validity. This study utilized the Research and Development (R&D) method, referring to Borg and Gall’s development model which consisted of six stages: (1) problem analysis, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) validation, (5) product revision, and (6) product trial testing. The study was conducted on fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Salatuhur. Based on the validity examined by the experts—media expert, language expert, and material expert—the average score of the validity from the media expert was 92% in the very feasible category. The average validity score from the material expert was 85.49% in the very feasible category. Meanwhile, the average validity score from the language expert was 94.16%, also in the very feasible category. Moreover, the results of students’ responses obtained a score of 97.49% in the very feasible category. Based on the research results, the final product of a contextual learning–based audiovisual media on the material of energy sources and their changes was feasible to be utilized for learning activities of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Speaking skill refers to students’ ability to convey their ideas. This research employed a questionnaire method within an R&D design, supported by data collection through observation and interviews. The purpose of this study was to produce feasible (valid) local-wisdom–based finger puppet media for improving the speaking skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Cikande Permai. This study used the R&D model proposed by Sugiyono (2010: 409), which consists of six steps: (1) problem analysis, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) design validation, (5) design revision, and (6) product testing. The product was tested on one teacher and 10 fourth-grade students. The validation results from material experts reached 87%, from linguists 84%, and from media experts 83%, all of which were categorized as very feasible, indicating that the product could be used as learning media. Furthermore, field trials were conducted through students’ response questionnaires, yielding a score of 93.7% in the very good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the local-wisdom–based finger puppet media is feasible for use in learning.

This study aimed to describe the implementation of learning efficiency of elementary school (SD) students through E-learning, and to know the advantages and disadvantages of its implementation. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative with literature study design. The data were collected through literature study in the form of academic manuscripts and relevant previous research including more than 20 scientific articles. Then, the data were analyzed thorugh content analysis techniques. The results revealed that 1. The implementation of learning efficiency for elementary school students through e-learning was practical and effective with the support of the ease of technology and internet in teaching and learning activities; 2. The advantages of implementing learning efficiency for elementary school students through e-learning in the disruption era were students and teachers could easily share information, and it saved costs, energy, and time in getting maximum results; besides, the students could learn actively and independently. On the other hand, the disadvantages of implementing the learning efficiency of elementary school students through e-learning in the disruption era was the lack of interaction between teachers and students, teachers tended to ignore social and academic aspects, and not all places were available on the internet. Based on these results, this research implied that teachers and students should be able to use e-learning wisely and the government should address the gap in internet access in Indonesia, especially in remote areas.

The focus of this research was to determine the implementation of Pioneer Teaching Campus (PTC) 2020 activities as a forerunner to driving literacy and numeracy learning at elementary schools. The type of this research was qualitative research with a narrative approach. The stages in this narrative research included (1) identification of phenomena to be studied, (2) determining participants allowing researchers to study the phenomena, (3) gathering information (experiences) from participants, (4) retelling information (experiences) from participants, (5) collaborating with participants, and (6) writing narratives based on information (experiences) from participants. The results showed that the implementation of PTC 2020 was very helpful for teachers in target schools, especially in literacy and numeracy learning since it was common for many teachers to be reluctant to carry out literacy and numeracy learning in their classes, even though literacy and numeracy programs had been promoted for a long time. Many factors caused this condition, ranging from age that affected motivation, teachers' understanding of literacy and numeracy learning, to the limited ability of teachers to use technology.

Early in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic spread in almost all regions of Indonesia, which resulted in changes in the teaching process. Teaching was carried out by using various digital applications, one of which was WhatsApp application. The purpose of this study was to describe the teaching through WhatsApp application as a learning resource and tool, and to find out the effect of WhatsApp on the students’ reading ability at grade 1. The method in this study was a quantitative experimental research with a questionnaire, interviews, and observations as the instruments. The subjects of this study were grade I students who were registered in elementary schools and participating in teaching with WhatsApp. The results of the study illustrated that WhatsApp application used by the teacher was ineffective as a medium and learning tool for grade 1 elementary school students. The data revealed that 70% of parents stated that their children were not yet able to read, 12% of parents stated that their children were not able to recognize and pronounce words correctly. In conclusion, WhatsApp had no effect on students' initial reading abilities during the Covid-19 pandemic as the result of the hypothesis testing indicated that the probability value (significance) was 0.000; thus, Ho was rejected. Using WhatsApp application as a medium for early reading was not recommended. Keywords: , ,
