Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning motivation of fifth-grade students in mathematics at SDN 010 Ujung Batu. The purpose of this classroom action research was to improve students’ motivation in learning mathematics through the use of number card games as learning media. The research was conducted at SDN 010 Ujung Batu for one month, starting in August 2014. The subjects of the study were 30 students of class V. The research instruments consisted of teacher and student activity observation sheets and achievement tests. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the application of number card games as learning media was able to increase students’ motivation to learn mathematics, particularly on integer material. This improvement was indicated by the increase in students’ learning motivation from 59.9% in the first cycle, which was categorized as fairly good, to 71.3% in the second cycle, which was categorized as good. These results show that the use of number card games as learning media can effectively enhance students’ motivation in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low science learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 006 Tri Mulya Jaya. Of the 20 students, only 10 students achieved mastery learning. The low learning outcomes were caused by several factors, namely: (a) the learning model used by the teacher was conventional, and (b) the learning process was teacher-centered, resulting in passive students. The purpose of this study was to improve students’ science learning outcomes through the implementation of the cooperative learning model Make a Match. This study was conducted using classroom action research consisting of two cycles. The data collected included teacher activity, student activity, and students’ science learning outcomes. The results showed that both learning activities and science learning outcomes improved in each cycle. Student activity increased from an average of 54.00% at the first meeting of Cycle I to 62.00% at the second meeting of Cycle I. In Cycle II, student activity further increased to 75.00% at the first meeting and 83.00% at the second meeting. In terms of learning outcomes, the percentage of students achieving mastery learning increased from 50.00% with an average score of 61 in the preliminary data to 75.00% with an average score of 79 in Cycle I, and further increased to 85.00% with an average score of 76.5 in Cycle II. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of the Make a Match cooperative learning model can improve science learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 006 Tri Mulya Jaya.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the student worksheet assignment method in class VII.2. The research was conducted in March and April 2016. The subjects of the study were 26 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Dumai. The parameters measured in this study included students’ absorption, mastery learning, student activities, and teacher activities as supporting data. The research instruments consisted of instructional tools and data collection instruments. The instructional tools included a syllabus, lesson plans, and tests, while the data collection instruments consisted of student activity observation sheets and teacher activity observation sheets. The results of the study showed that students’ absorption in the first cycle reached 70%, which was categorized as moderate, and increased to 78% in the second cycle, categorized as high. Student mastery learning in the first cycle reached 88.46%, and slightly increased to 88.50% in the second cycle, indicating that students achieved mastery learning. Student activity in the first cycle obtained an average score of 80.76%, categorized as very good, and increased significantly to 97.5% in the second cycle, categorized as excellent. It can be concluded that the implementation of the student worksheet assignment method can improve student learning outcomes in ecosystem material for class VII.2 students of SMP Negeri 2 Dumai.

Abstract

The background of this study was the low science (IPA) learning outcomes of students, where out of 20 students only 9 students achieved learning mastery and the average student learning outcome was 62, which was still below the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) of 65. This research aimed to improve the science learning outcomes of first-grade students at SDN 006 Tri Mulya Jaya. The study was conducted as a classroom action research carried out in two cycles by applying a direct instructional model. The data used in this research consisted of teacher activity data, student activity data, and students’ science learning outcomes. The results indicated that the application of the direct instructional model had a positive impact by increasing teacher and student activities as well as students’ science learning outcomes. Teacher activity increased from 37.00% in the first meeting of cycle I to 50.00% in the second meeting of cycle I, then to 74.00% in the first meeting of cycle II, and finally to 82.00% in the second meeting of cycle II. Student activity also increased from 37.00% in the first meeting of cycle I to 41.00% in the second meeting of cycle I, then to 76.00% in the first meeting of cycle II, and to 80.00% in the second meeting of cycle II. Students’ science learning outcomes also improved, as indicated by the increase in the number of students achieving mastery from 14 students (70.00%) in the first cycle to 17 students (85.00%) in the second cycle. Likewise, the class average score increased from 62 in the preliminary data to 72.5 after the first cycle and further increased to 76.5 after the second cycle.

Abstract

The background of this research was the low mathematics learning outcomes of students. Out of 24 students, only 11 students achieved learning mastery. This study aimed to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Quantum Teaching model. This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted at SD Negeri 011 Bukit Gajah, Ukui District. The data used in this study included teacher and student activity data as well as students’ learning outcomes. Based on the results of the research, both learning outcomes and the activities of teachers and students showed improvement in each cycle. This was evidenced by the increase in the average student learning outcomes, where the initial average score of 63.90 increased to 66.86 in Cycle I, showing an improvement of 2.96 points (4.63%), and further increased in Cycle II to 77.05, showing an improvement of 10.19 points (15.24%). Classical learning mastery in the preliminary data showed that only 13 students (35.71%) achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). In Cycle I, learning mastery increased to 11 students (64.29%), and further increased in Cycle II to 20 students (85.71%) achieving mastery. The improvement in learning outcomes was supported by the increase in teacher activities, where in Cycle I Meeting I the percentage was 70.83% in the good category and increased to 79.17% in Cycle I Meeting II, showing an improvement of 11.76%, while in Cycle II Meeting I the percentage increased to 83.33% in the very good category and further increased to 87.50% in Cycle II Meeting II. Student learning activities also increased, where in Cycle I Meeting I the percentage was 58.33% in the sufficient category and increased to 66.67% in Cycle I Meeting II, showing an improvement of 14.29%, while in Cycle II both meetings reached 83.33% in the good category.

Abstract

The background of this study was the low science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 021 Tanjung Palas, where out of 25 students only 8 students (32.00%) achieved learning mastery. The low learning outcomes were caused by several factors, including: (a) students’ lack of enthusiasm for learning; (b) students’ inability to answer reasoning-based questions; (c) limited student involvement in the learning process; (d) suboptimal use of learning media or teaching aids; and (e) students’ low level of understanding of science subject matter. This research was conducted as a classroom action research (PTK) aimed at describing learning outcomes through the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. The subjects of this study were students of class V A at SDN 021 Tanjung Palas, and the research was carried out in two cycles. Improvements in learning outcomes were analyzed based on four categories, namely learning absorption, learning effectiveness, mastery learning completeness at both individual and classical levels, and overall learning achievement. Data were collected using oral tests and written tests in the form of worksheets administered after the learning process. The results showed that students’ science learning outcomes improved in each cycle, as indicated by mastery learning achievement, where in the first cycle 15 students (60%) achieved mastery and in the second cycle the number increased to 22 students (88%). It can be concluded that the application of the CTL learning model can improve science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 021 Tanjung Palas.

Abstract

The background of this study was the low science learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 001 Ukui Satu, Ukui District. This research was conducted as a classroom action research in two cycles and aimed to improve science learning outcomes through the implementation of the training method. The data used in this study consisted of teacher activity data, student activity data, and students’ science (IPA) learning outcomes. The results showed that teacher and student activities, as well as science learning outcomes, improved in each cycle. This improvement was evidenced by: (a) increased teacher activity, where in the first cycle the teacher activity score was 19 (63%), categorized as fairly good, and in the second cycle it increased to 22 (73%), categorized as good; student activity also increased from a score of 47 (60%) in the first cycle, categorized as high, to a score of 52 (67%) in the second cycle, also categorized as high; and (b) improved science learning outcomes, as indicated by an increase in the number of students achieving the minimum mastery criterion (KKM), from 10 students (77%) in the first cycle to 11 students (85%) in the second cycle.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the Indonesian language learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 004 Bagan Besar through the use of generative teaching methods. The subjects in this study were fifth-grade students of SDN 004 Bagan Besar in the Indonesian language subject, specifically on the material of commenting on factual issues. This research is a form of classroom action research, which is a practical approach aimed at improving deficiencies found in classroom learning, including enhancing students’ creativity and their ability to generalize concepts. This is carried out through specific actions designed to improve teaching practices so that learning becomes more effective and professional. Based on the observations conducted, student learning outcomes improved significantly. This improvement can be seen from the first meeting before the implementation of the generative teaching method, where learning outcomes in the first cycle reached 76%, and increased further in the second cycle to 92%. Based on this analysis, it can be concluded that the application of generative teaching methods can improve the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 004 Bagan Besar, Kecamatan Bukit Kapur.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of fourth-grade upper students of SDN 006 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam in describing directive texts. The goal of this study was to improve their ability to describe directive texts through the application of the demonstration method, conducted over a period of one month. The research was carried out at SDN 006 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam, involving 32 fourth-grade students. This classroom action research began in early August 2016. The research instruments consisted of teacher and student activity sheets as well as achievement tests. Based on the data presented in Chapter IV, this study succeeded in improving students’ ability to describe directive texts through the demonstration method. The findings show that the research objectives were achieved. The preliminary data indicated that the average student score before the implementation of the demonstration method was only 65.9. After the demonstration method was applied in the first cycle, the average score increased to 71.6, categorized as “high.” In the second cycle, the average score rose further to 88, also within the “high” category. Moreover, the performance indicators were achieved, with 96.9% of students, or 31 out of 32 students, meeting the completion criteria.

Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of writing skills of students. This is due to: (a) instructional methods used by teachers always lectures, discussion and provision of duty; (b) students are not trained to write well and truly in the study; (c) the student is only assigned to write his own without the guidance of a teacher; and (d) interaction in the learning occurs only in one direction. To that end, researchers conducted research is conducted with the aim of improving students' writing skills by applying multi-sensory methods in classroom action research. This study was conducted in two cycles, data collection techniques used were observation activities of teachers and students, and a written test. Results of the study stated that through multi-sensory method of increasing students' writing ability. This is evidenced by: (a) the activities of teachers has increased in the first cycle to the second cycle. In the first cycle in the implementation of learning first meeting with a percentage of 45% after the second meeting with a percentage of 55%. Cycle II increased in all three meetings with the percentage of 70% and after the fourth meeting accomplished 75%. Besides the student activity also increased in the first cycle of the first meeting keatifan students reached 48% and in the second meeting reached 61%. In the second cycle to the 3rd meeting with the percentage of 71% and 4 meeting to reach 84%; and (b) the students' writing skills also increased in the first cycle in the implementation of learning first meeting with a percentage of 45% after the second meeting with a percentage of 55%. Cycle II increases at a meeting to 3 with a percentage of 70% and after the fourth meeting accomplished 75%.
