Al-Ulum adalah jurnal yang terbit berkala pada bulan Juni dan Desember, ditelaah dan direview oleh para ahli dalam bidangnya, diterbitkan oleh lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo, Indonesia ISSN 1412-0534 E-ISSN 2442-8213 Al-Ulum telah diakreditasi dengan peringkat B oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Keputusan Keputusan Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi No. 53/DIKTI/Kep/2013 untuk periode 2013-2018. Sekarang, AL-Ulum telah terakreditasi sistem online dengan peringkat “Sinta 2” untuk periode 2018-2022 oleh Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi SK No. 21/E/KPT/2018.

This paper is aimed to offer a solution on the problem of handling the elderly in Indonesia. Increased life expectancy of Indonesia's population affects growing elderly population. So it could be that the twenty first century is called the era of aged population, because the growth of the elderly in Indonesia will be faster than other countries. Indonesia will experience a boom in the number of senior citizens at the beginning of two decades of the 21st century. The elderly in need of handling the complexity of their problems needs to be tackled. One way out of this issue is through social funds for the elderly in Indonesia as a priority. Particular allocation from the social funds, such as, the Muslims’ charity (zakat) and other fundingsources are managed by BAZNAS. Surely, this priority will show the concern of Indonesia’s government for the elderly peoples.

Tafsir Bugis, which compiled by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), existed within South Sulawesi among Bugis people to fill the lack of literature in Bugis area; therefore, the Qur'an can be understood by ordinary people who do not understand or know Latin language (i.e. Malay) or Arabic interpretation. This includes commentary Tafsir al-Qur'an Bugis completed a 30 chapters written by Bugis interpretation AG. Daud Ismail. The methodology of the tafsir is using the tahlily method through textual forms and the way its construction is not very merely affiliated schools of philosophy and its schools of fiqh.

Judicial power is the power of an independent state to hold court to conduct of lawenforcement and justice based on the Pancasila to found the law-based-state, Republic of Indonesia. This statement becomes the definition of judicial power which listed in the Article 1 of Constitutional No.4 2004. As a consequence of power sharing system that is applied in Indonesia, the judiciary or judicial functions held by judicial institutions set by the 1945 Constitution. Chapter IX of the 1945 Constitution mentions three state agencies within the scope of judicial power, i.e. the Supreme Court (MA), the Constitutional Court (MK), and the Judicial Commission (KY). However, according to the Article 24 paragraph 2, only the Supreme Court (and judicial bodies underneath it) and the Constitutional Court (MK) holds the authority as organizer of judicial power. Meanwhile, the rest of judiciaries are often referred as extra-judicial institutions.

This article aims to elaborate the value of local pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Islamic economic development. The pesantren’s Islamic economics is assessed by using the Pierre Bourdieu's social practice theory of social action, namely (Habitus x Capital) + Ranah = Practice. In the theory of social practice, internalization of social values, interpreted as social capital in realizing the behaviour of Islamic economics (economic behaviour). The transformation of the value of local wisdom, believed to be able to inspire all the actions and social roles of individuals in the economic field by promoting the three basic pillars, among others: 1) ownership (al-milkiyah) according to sharia, 2) ownership use (tasharruffi al-milkiyah) and 3) distribution of community wealth (taui 'al-tsarwah baina al-nas) through mechanisms according to the system: shari'a, ai-ashlu fial-afdl' al-taqajyudu bi al-hukm al-syar'.

This paper is aimed to provide a clear picture of differences in interest or usury and mark-up that has sometimes lead to miss-interpretation within community in a variety of banking transactions, especially on credit. The difference in price (mark up) in a murabahah transaction by “bai `bi tsaman ajil†cannot be equated with loan transactions in conventional banks, if the mark up its credit determination based on changes in interest rates that apply to each bank and can be changed at any time based on changes in interest rates, and determination that is made unilaterally by the creditor without first bargaining with the debtor. While at “murabahan bai wa tsaman ajilâ€Â, setting his mark up is made in advance at the time of the transaction and does not change until the end of the agreement.

This article examines Islamic fundamentalism through a historical perspective on globalization offered by Roland Robertson, the theory of Islamic fundamentalism and its relation to the involvement of youth in Indonesia. In theory, Islamic fundamentalism is divided into two classifications. First is the "continuity and change", the development of fundamentalism in Islam is both continuity and change in Islamic history. The second theory is the "challenges and opportunities". The basic assumption of this theory is that the crisis in the modern Muslim world, accumulation social, political, and cultural are consider the main factors influence Islamic fundamentalism. Advanced technology in communications, information, and the country's transportation networks around the world; variety of shows, events, and the phenomenon will spread rapidly from one country to another.

Radical individual and organizations are setting strong foothold on Internet. They operate in dark network hidden from authorities view to pursuade, recruit, and coordinate radical and violent actions. The presence of radical individual and organizations onInternet sites have caused massive debate and contraversi among Internet users, law enforcement bodies,and policy makers regarding misuse of Internet. However, little is known how exactly radical individual and organizations deliver their propaganda on Internet and what radical organizations practice such activities on Internet. Through the use of content analysis approach, this study analyzed various radical websites content to provide deep insight of radical operation and propaganda on Internet. Data was collected from various popular radical organization websites and previous studies. The findings show that well-kown organized radical and terorist oragnizations in Indonesia and International have intensively used Internet for new arena to radical and terror public across the globe. They use Internet topursuade, deliver propaganda to a global audience, recruit new members, communicate with international supporters, solicit donations, and fostering public awareness. This study concludes that Internet has become a new instrument to spread radicalism and terror within community life.

The core application of Islamic personality is not a separate entity relationships on the basis of legal relations. Perfection and absolute principle of Islamic personalities must be supported by elements of legal relationship under Islamic law. It needs various strategies to apply the principles of Islamic personality. There are two main strategies to implement the principles of Islamic personalities. That is what he calls a common guide and the guide during the legal relationship. The definition of common standards is a benchmark that is formal. While the definition of the benchmark when there is that in the event of a legal relationship both parties are equally Muslim and legal bond that ties them to do under Islamic law.

This paper examines the economic behavior according to Islamic ethics. In economic theory, human behavior deals with four issues: production, distribution, service and consumption. There are four things assessed in Islamic ethics, four things related to the purpose of human life, the concept of good luck, property rights, and employment. The main argument proposed in this article is that Islam does not rule out the existence and worldly possessions, as long as they do not ignore the life hereafter. The purpose of life and human life is to gain happiness in this world and the hereafter as well. Therefore, ethics of Islam appreciate the professional as an integral part of religious orders.

Crusade represents the war that happened between Muslims and Cristians in the past. This fight is called Crusade, which is by Cristian people referred as holy war, because the expedition of Christian military hence the Cross sign as unifier attribute and as holy war symbol in attacking to Islamic world. According to writer analysis, the magnifier of Cristian people is understood thouroghly as religious emotion of the Cristian people. With the the Cross sign symbol, they would easily inspired the religious emotion of Cristian people. Provenly, in three period of attacks, some Cristians took a great participation in the the war. In a period of that war, winning and fail was coming exchangeably between the legion of Islam and Cristian people.
