Abstract

Tourism growth in emerging destinations has intensified competition among leisure venues, particularly in Bali’s beach clubs, which have become a distinctive attraction for domestic and international tourists. Sustaining revisit intention is critical for the long-term success of these establishments, yet little is known about the determinants of loyalty in this context. This study investigates the mediating role of satisfaction in the relationship between perceived value, hedonic value, and revisit intention, drawing upon the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A quantitative survey of 387 domestic tourists visiting beach clubs in Bali was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings demonstrate that perceived value, hedonic value, and satisfaction significantly influence revisit intention, with satisfaction acting as a robust mediator. Hedonic value exerts a stronger indirect effect than perceived value, highlighting the role of emotional and experiential dimensions in shaping loyalty. The study contributes theoretically by extending TPB with constructs of consumer value in leisure tourism and practically by offering insights for managers to design strategies that enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen competitive advantage.

Abstract

Jawara is a local wisdom value used as a tourism selling point in Banten. In its application, the symbolism of Jawara land has become an obstacle to the development of a tourist village in Cikolelet, Serang. This study aims to analyze the local wisdom values in Cikolelet Village. Specifically, this study examines the obstacles encountered in developing Cikolelet, the first tourism village in Serang Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, combining field observations, comprehensive interviews, and extensive literature reviews. The results show that the socio-cultural values of the community, namely obedience, honesty, patriotism, and religiosity, are strengths in the development of Cikolelet as a tourist village. However, the commodification of tourist attractions is considered to have reduced the value of local wisdom. The clash between community customs and tourists' behavior and dress codes stems from the lack of rules or guidelines for tourists' conduct and attire, as well as the community's concerns about the adverse effects of tourism on the village. Therefore, involving tourism stakeholders in the management of the tourism village is one solution to avoid such conflicts and to build collaboration among various parties in the development of the tourism village.

Abstract

This study examines the spatial-temporal dynamics of the Kayutangan tourism corridor, Malang City, utilizing Google Popularity Times. This novel big data approach fills traditional data gaps by capturing real-time visitor behavior. Data collected via web scraping were analyzed using Python-based data mining and visualization. The results reveal clear temporal patterns, with peak visitation on Saturdays during the afternoon and evening hours. Spatial analysis highlights an uneven distribution of visitor intensity, with specific locations dominating activity. This study contributes a scalable framework for heritage tourism planning, demonstrating the tool’s effectiveness for real-time visitor flow management and targeted infrastructure development.

Abstract

This study provides empirical evidence on how viral social media content influences behavioral, emotional, and online engagement with tourist destinations in The Gambia, an area that has received limited empirical attention in tourism research. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 256 respondents familiar with tourism-related viral social media content in The Gambia. Tourist destination engagement was influenced most by emotional engagement, followed by behavioral engagement, and finally by online engagement. In other words, tourists react to emotional experiences that they have had due to viral content on social media rather than behavioral and online engagement. Although previous research has demonstrated the importance of social media as a marketing tool for tourism destinations, little information exists addressing the influence of viral social media content on behavioral, emotional, and online engagement of visitors at their destinations in The Gambia. The purpose of this article is to address this gap by looking into the impact of the aforementioned engagement characteristics on tourist destination engagement. The findings suggest that tourism destination managers in The Gambia should prioritize emotionally engaging digital storytelling and authentic user-generated content to strengthen tourist destination engagement.

Abstract

Cultural tourism has experienced significant growth, driven by increasing tourist demand for authentic and immersive cultural experiences. One prominent example is the Tari Kecak performance, a cultural attraction that integrates elements of art, culture, and immersive visitor experience. Despite its strong cultural appeal, a gap remains between tourists’ expectations and their actual experiences. This study aims to examine the influence of destination attributes, memorable tourism experiences (MTE), and value for money (VFM) on tourist satisfaction and revisit intention, with satisfaction serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing online questionnaires to 220 tourists who had attended a Tari Kecak performance. The results reveal that memorable tourism experiences and destination attributes significantly influence tourist satisfaction, whereas value for money does not significantly affect satisfaction or revisit intention. Tourist satisfaction is shown to enhance revisit intention and serves as a key mediating variable. Specifically, satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between destination attributes and revisit intention, and partially mediates the relationship between memorable tourism experience and revisit intention. This study contributes to the cultural tourism literature by integrating destination attributes, memorable tourism experiences, and value for money in explaining tourist satisfaction and revisit intention. Practically, the findings help kecak dance organizers and destination managers develop immersive cultural experiences to improve tourist satisfaction and repeat visitation.
