Abstract

The Tingkeban ceremony, as a cultural heritage of the Javanese community in Nganjuk, East Java, Indonesia, is faced with preservation challenges due to the influence of modernization and globalization. This research explores integrating local wisdom and Islamic values in maintaining and enriching the Tingkeban Ceremony. This study used a case study approach involving observation, interviews, and document analysis as data collection methods. This research reveals that the fusion of local wisdom and Islamic values in the Tingkeban Ceremony results in a harmonious and meaningful cultural tradition, reflecting their Javanese identity and Islamic faith. The local wisdom in the ceremony includes values such as cooperation, togetherness, and tolerance, while the integrated Islamic values include good manners, submission to Allah Swt. and cleanliness. Collaboration between various parties, including the community, religious leaders, and local government, is essential in ensuring the continuity of the Tingkeban Ceremony. Although the practice has evolved, the core values of the ceremony have been maintained and even strengthened. This study recommends efforts to increase the role and involvement of the community in preserving the Tingkeban Ceremony, develop educational programs that strengthen understanding of cultural values and Islamic faith, and promote this ceremony as an attractive cultural tourism destination in Nganjuk.

The research method approach used in this article is a literature study or literature review. Sources are collected from books and various research articles on pollution of the marine environment and its consequences for human health that have been carried out by previous researchers, then studied from the perspective of maqāsid al-sharī’ah. The findings in this study show that the problem of damage to marine ecosystems due to pollution is a big problem that must be resolved, because of the impact caused not only on the environment but also on human health problems as a result of consuming marine biota exposed to waste, especially heavy metals. While preserving the ecosystem is part of maqāsid al-sharī’ah. Therefore, in realizing halal products that are tayyib, serious attention is needed on supply chain sources. The results of this research can contribute to thinking and decision-making regarding the importance of preserving the environment in realizing a good source of food supply.

Abstract

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), under the leadership of Yahya Cholil Staquf, has taken significant steps in addressing global challenges and modernity through the concept of "Fiqh of Civilization". This concept aims to broad the understanding of Islamic jurisprudence beyond the Muslim community scale, encompassing inter-civilizational interactions. This research investigates how NU integrates universal Islamic principles with contemporary social, economic, and political dynamics, creating new scholarly constructs relevant to the current era. By utilizing a qualitative-descriptive method based on a literature review, this study analyzes various NU initiatives and programs, such as the Civilization Fiqh Halaqah and the Thought Congress. Findings indicate NU's seriousness in fostering a dynamic and inclusive scholarly discourse, focusing on pluralism, social justice, and environmental sustainability. This study further explores the contributions fiqh of civilization to "Al-Nahdlah Al-Tsaniyah" reflecting a paradigmatic shift in religious understanding and practice. The results show that fiqh of civilization not only reinterprets religious texts but also enrich social interactions and strengthens Islamic identity in a global context. This concept underscores the importance of adapting religious texts to change realities and highlights NU's strategic role in advancing progressive and responsive Islamic thought. The conclusion of this study asserts that fiqh of civilization has facilitated a productive dialogue between Islamic principles and contemporary challenges, essential for the development of a harmonious and sustainable civilization.

Abstract

This research analyzes the concept of the child's best interests in divorce judgments from the perspective of the principle of maslahah, with a focus on Verdict Number 225/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Bkls. The study aims to explore how court decisions consider the welfare of the child in the context of divorce, particularly concerning custody and post-divorce financial arrangements. The analytical approach encompasses legal aspects and judicial considerations related to the principle of maslahah. The identified academic problem is the ambiguity in applying the best interests of the child principle in divorce judgments in Indonesia, which often overlooks the aspect of maslahah. The research findings indicate that although the principle of maslahah is frequently mentioned, its implementation is still limited and requires enhancement in judicial practice. This study provides an in-depth understanding of the implementation of the child's best interests in the context of divorce and recommends improvement measures to effectively protect the rights and interests of children in the future. This research is expected to guide wise decision-making among legal practitioners and judicial institutions in handling divorce cases involving children.

Abstract

The prevalence of mental health disorders in contemporary society underscores the need for effective psychotherapeutic approaches. While modern psychotherapy has made significant strides, the potential of Sufistic approaches, particularly in Islamic contexts, remains largely unexplored. This study examines the dhikr (remembrance of God) concept of Abdurrauf al-Singkili, a prominent 17th-century Indonesian Sufi, as a psychotherapeutic model. Through extensive library research, utilizing documentary techniques to analyze Abdurrauf's works and related scholarly materials, this study employs content analysis to elucidate his unique approach to dhikr. The findings reveal that Abdurrauf's dhikr concept offers a comprehensive Sufistic approach to psychotherapy, potentially serving as an alternative or complementary model in addressing current mental health challenges. Abdurrauf's conceptualization of dhikr as a means for spiritual fortification and psychological tranquility demonstrates remarkable parallels with contemporary meditation and relaxation therapy techniques. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on integrative psychotherapy, highlighting the relevance of traditional Sufistic practices in modern mental health interventions.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic law through the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is a long-standing historical phenomenon. This process has led to social fragmentation, resulting in the disintegration of the Indonesian people both within the nation and state. This article examines the progressive response of the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School alumni and student communities to the democratic process by introducing the fiqh of nationality, particularly in light of the rise of salafism ideology. Specifically, this article focuses on the use of the fiqh of nationality as a logical counter to the puritanism paradigm, which views human subjectivity as limited to carrying out God's commands. The aim is to identify patterns in the exploration of the meaning of normative texts that promote social and humanist goals and religious values. Additionally, this article reveals social strategies employed in representing the fiqh of nationality in the public sphere. A qualitative approach was employed as a method to discover important aspects of text exploration strategies and patterns. To provide more detailed text patterns and exploration, interviews were conducted with several senior students who initiated the discourse on the fiqh of nationality, as well as with several caregivers. The research findings indicate that the fiqh of nationality emerged as a result of a dynamic dialectic with citizenship phenomena at the local and global levels, which seeks to counter the tendencies of certain groups to generate monolithic religious propositions and understandings.

Abstract

Childfree is the view of married couples who decide not to have children. Childfree also became the talk of the Indonesian people when Gita Savitri, an influencer promoted the childfree campaign in Indonesia. Childfree has two perspectives: some view childfree as something that is allowed, and some reject it. In addition to causing various perspectives among the public, childfree also causes differences of opinion among people who are experts in Islamic science. Therefore, with the differences in opinions, views, and laws, the author is interested in making childfree a research problem that needs to be discussed. According to the Qur'anic verses, the author chose Tafsir Al-Mis}ba>h} to find the perspective of childlessness. The purpose of this research is to complement the shortcomings of previous studies from the religious side. Data processing in this article is through the tah}li>li> method. The tah}li>li> method itself is an analysis of the verses of the Qur'an studied from one verse, or letter, whose order is adjusted to the systematics of the Uthma>ni> mush}af. Tafsir Al-Mis}ba>h} views children from three perspectives, namely lust, humans are created in pairs, and children are sustenance.
