Abstract

This paper is based on a research concerning religious harmony in Denpasar Bali. The purpose of this paper is to look at religious life in Denpasar multicultural society, how they coexist with a harmonious life, and how they experience friction due to religious and ethnic differences. This study applies a qualitative method with an interdisciplinary approach comprising anthropology and social sciences. Inter-religious relations in Denpasar reflect a public awareness of the existence of a pluralistic society that has an egalitarian narure with similarities as well as differences in their being creatures of God Almighty. Harmonious life in Denpasar is based on mutual respect and appreciation in among adherents of different religions.

Abstract

This article discusses the position of ahad hadis according to both Sunni and Shi’i scholars. As being commonly acknowledge by muslims that Sunni school strongly holds an transmitted materials (riwayat) and opinions of all scholars among the prophet’s companions, while Shi’i school based its reason on merely materials and opinions from ahlu bait companions. Both schools actually have the same conclusion on the possibility to use ahad hadis as a source in Islamic law, but a few issues on transmission requirements. Both Sunni and Shi’i agree that ahad hadis is applicable to ibadah (worship), but not to akidah (faith) Shi’i school in particular requires the transmitter of ahad hadis school be ma’sum (devirely protected).

Abstract

This article investigates muslims scholars’ views about women’s creation and their right of leardership based on the Qur’an. Various methods of exegesis of the Qur’an influences significantly in understanding the women’s creation and their right of leadership. The failure to find out ideal impression of the verses of the Qur’an is This article investigates Muslims scholars’ views concerning creation of women and their leadership right in accordance with the Qur’an. Various methods of Qur’anic exegesis significantly influence understanding of the creation of women and their right of leadership. Failure to disclose the ideal impression of the Qur’anic verses is majorly caused by separation of its texts and contexts. A historical awareness and external reality today are two in each other's pocket variables. Another factor is hadith (riwayat) from an ahlul kitab who converted to be a Muslim and recounts that Hawa was created from Adam’s left bent rib bone. Whereas according to the Qur’an humankinds, both men and women, have originally been created from the same source in that they share equal position, and men cannot subordinate women. Nor are they competitors one another, rather they are partners with own virtues and women to serve as public leaders as long as they fulfill qualitative criteria of competences, including those of the managerial,  leadership, intellectual, personal, and also of course, with a public support.

Abstract

Landasan filosofis dari konsep emanasi adalah keinginan untuk menghindarkan Tuhan dari alam yang pluralis dalam rangka memurnikan keesaan Tuhan dari segala hal yang material. Gagasan dasar Islam tentang Tuhan adalah Keesaan-Nya, penciptaan oleh-Nya dari ketidakadaan dan ketergantungan semua ciptaan kepada-Nya. Menurut Al-Kindi, Tuhan adalah yang benar dan tinggi serta dapat disifati hanya dengan sebutan-sebutan yang negatif, seperti Tuhan bukan materi, tidak berbentuk, tidak berjumlah. Untuk membuktikan keesaan Tuhan berikutnya datang al-Farabi dengan teori emanasinya, menurutnya bahwa alam ini memancar dari Tuhan dengan melalui akal-akal yang jumlahnya sepuluh.

Abstract

This paper was originally an investigative study focusing on the famous hadith Malays in society. The purpose of this research is to collect the famous hadith (hadits masyhur) in the Malays, then assess the level of hadith to the Malay community concerning the status of hadith which spread among them, especially the fake hadits. The collections of hadits masyhur may be obtained from a variety of sources, such as reading books , local books, magazines, newspaper, jumat speechs, and a collection of recorded religious lectures like Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam Malaysia TV1 and so on. This research employs a critical approach in looking at hadis as the second source of Islamic teaching. It refers to the critical methodology of Hadith scholars who had been instrumental in developing the science of hadith. This study is expected to impose the Islamic community about the importance of sorting hadis which have been implemented among the society in order to apply hadis sahih. Furthermore, Muslims also can avoid the distortions to al-Sunnah or Hadith. Therefore, studying the science of Hadith is strongly important to Muslims, especially among the Malays for keeping the Islamic religion, especially the second source of Islamic teachings, namely al-Sunna or Hadith.

Abstract

Istiqamah is an attitude of consistency fo doing religious (Islamic) teaching. It’s a behavior of Faithful in obeying God’s commends from the beginning he or she declared to be a muslim until the end of their life. Based on that, this article tried to explain what is the essentilal meaning of istiqamah ? what is the epistemology of istiqamah? And what is axiology of istiqamah? For dealing with those problems, the article uses theological approach and Qur’anic exegesis in order tp get a comprehensive describing of istiqamah in the Qor’an. The article discovered that the man who strongly occupied the istiqamah, whether in understanding, saying or actiting, would have a God’s blessing. According to Hadis (Prophet’s saying), a muslim who implemented istiqamah consistently would bring him  to have a happiness in his life and hereafter.

Abstract

The term contraception means the prevention of pregnancy through prevention of conception. There are various ways of contraception, such as contraceptive injections, intravaginal contraceptive, condoms, intrauterine devices (IUD), tubectomy, vasectomy surgery, and alternative conventional means. Contraception methods most widely used today are oral contraceptives and injections. In this context, the substantial function of the Family Planning (KB) program is obviously to lower fertility in order to reduce the burden of nation development in efforts to accomplish contentment and prosperity for the people or nation of Indonesia. As stated in decree number 10 of 1992 on Population Development and Family Welfare Development, the definition of Family Planning is raising efforts and community involvement through maturing age of marriage, birth control, fostering family resilience and family welfare with the purpose of establishing small, happy, and prosperous families.

Abstract

This article aims at outlining the characteristics of Ibn Khaldun’s political thought and at analyzing Ibn Khaldun’s views on state leadership. Based on Ibn Khaldun’s works, it clearly explains that Ibn Khaldun saw man from sociological and anthropological point of views. For him, human are not able to live without living and working with other creatures. This shows the necessity of organization for all mankind due to its function as an important factor in leading human existence to perfection.

Abstract

An aspect of the Holy Prophet’s main concerns is kafālat al-yatῑm (orphan provision). The Prophet as uswah hasanah, has practiced and ordered that his people nurture orphans with their best care. In this respect, Muslims are obliged to take a good care of orphans and to support them with provision. How this orphan care should be performed, with reference to the instructions of the Prophet, is the subject to be reviewed in this article. The method applied is ma'an al-hadith, a method which seeks to analyze the meaning of the material contained by the hadith (matn) using a variety of analytical techniques. Through these methods, the author finds that the basic instructions given by the Prophet with regards to orphan care is closely related to motivation of conducting it, rules of orphan's property management, and substantial profits earned by those who cares for orphans.

Abstract

This article deals with the sources of the theory of emanation or overflow (fayd) espoused by the Muslim philosophers and theologians to answer the question around the creation of the Universe, particularly on the generation of the universe from God. It will specifically investigate how Muslim philosophers have responded to the issue from either doctrinal or philosophical point of view. There are two major theories in the creation of universe; that it was created out of nothing and at some point of time in the past. The other theory believes in the creation of the universe out of prime substances and at no point in time in the past. The Muslim philosophers like al-Kindi and al-Farabi, as well as rational theologians like the Mu’tazilites hold the second theory. On the other hand, traditional theologians have the same belief with those who hold the first theory. In fact, newer findings from modern sciences through empirical observations, particularly in the field of physics and astronomy, have revealed that the second theory is more acceptable rationally than the first one. In other words, the theory that the universe was ever-created and created out of existed substances appears to be more compatible with modern theories of sciences on the same subject, particularly the “Big Bang” theory.
